The Monkees – Daydream Believer (1967)
Sometimes there’s nothing better than Nez winking… ;)
Like, I know The Monkees were a cheesy ‘60s Beatles rip-off, but in terms of cheesy ‘60s Beatles rip-off weren’t they a damn good one?
Still a very, very wonderful song.
The worst thing about the 60s is that I wasn’t there.
Remember when Davy Jones appeared in an episode of Spongebob Squarepants?
I’ve just been reminded of the origins of “Alternate Title”, namely that Micky didn’t realize that “Randy Scouse Git” was off-color British slang, and I have a question. Where the fuck was Davy on this?
The song was recorded for “Headquarters” so all four of them were intimately involved in the production process, why did Davy at no point tell Micky what his new song title meant? Did he assume that Micky knew? Or did he just sit there going “Oh this will be hilarious” and said nothing deliberately? I just…how did that happen?
The Monkees - Mike and Micky
It's currently pouring where I am! Could you do some jork/dolenzmith rainy day headcanons?
I would love to! Sorry this took a bit longer & it’s probably not raining anymore :( ! This is another Modern AU because I love doing those:
Peter likes chilly, rainy days. Davy usually stays over at his apartment because he doesn’t want to drive in the rain. So he just puts on one of Peter’s sweatshirts and lounges around with Peter. It’s the best.
Davy isn’t the biggest fan of rain but he loves to be at Peter’s place when it is raining.
Peter always burns his incense & the two of them laze around the place. They usually go for cuddling and watching Friends.
And it’s basically a routine for them that when the rain calms to just a drizzle, Peter convinces Davy to go for a nice walk around the neighborhood.
Davy curls up in Peter’s sweatshirt and they head out once the rain has considerably slowed down. They walk up and down sidewalks, holding hands and Davy makes many attempts to keep Peter from hopping in the puddles.
They go for the nearest coffee shop at the end of their walks. Something to warm them up after all the cold rain. And while they usually intend to get coffee, they almost always get hot chocolate.
Micky & Mike’s rainy day experiences are almost never as sweet & cute as Davy and Peter’s.
On one occasion, the two of them were out & about. And they decided to drive out to one of those trails at a forest preserve & walk around because it was a nice sunny day.
It wasn’t long before they each got bored and they went back towards their car. Just in time too because clouds were shaping overhead & it started to pour rain.
And not the nice kind of rain. It was the humid, hot weather rain that feels disgustingly warm and uncomfortable;e.
But of course, Micky locked the keys in the car. Leaving the two of them to stand around outside while the rain pours down on them. Mike bickers with Micky about how dumb of him it was to lock the keys inside. They sit down and lean back on the car and Mike calls someone to get them.
It isn’t long before Mike gives in because he really can’t stay mad at Micky and he just slings his arm around the boy and they cuddle closer to wait.
I hope this was ok! Thank you for requesting!
MICKY.

Mike Nesmith probably, whenever Peter started getting on his nerves in the ‘60s:
