I’ve been too busy organizing support for a proposed homeless shelter in Koreatown to post any photos, but here are some beautiful medium format photos taken by a really cool neighbor and friend I made! 

He’s an old-school 70s punk who hasn’t lost his sense of rebellion even now. I’m so honored to have these protests documented with real black and white film. Check out his photobook project:

ちょっと前に、現在NYのセックス美術館で開催されているアラーキーの展覧会が、SNS上で話題になっていて、言いたいこといっぱいあったけれど、自分にとって大切なことだけに時間が必要で、すっかり出遅れてしまいました。一度蓋をした過去をこじ開けて、改めて向かい合って、事実を事実としてただ受け止められるようになるのは、想像以上に大変なことでした。怒りがあるからといって、全てを否定したいわけじゃないし、あなたのせいで人生がめちゃくちゃになったと大声あげて言いたいわけじゃない。どうしてこうなったのか、お互いに相手の気持ちを知って、わかりあって終わらせたかったのです。結果、わかりあえない人だと気付い

So my girlfriend sent me this link here, basically what Kaori writes here (back then she was one of his long term girlfriends) that she was used by him, degraded to the point where she had suicidal thoughts, worked for him without any kind of pay, that he sees his models as inferior to him and that’s how he treated Kaori too. It ended up with her struggling through the last 16 years, having stalkers, money issues and as you can imagine, being broken as a human being.

Thanks for reading and uh, I’d say don’t support his work. At least don’t buy it for the prices people ask for (also, dont buy it new) and generally, I’d be happy with all these old people who exploit their models/the people they work with completely gone from the art scene.
