Been working on trust-building excercises and cross-species communication with Ridley(Schneider’s Dwarf Caiman/Smooth Fronted Caiman/{Paleosuchus Trigonatus}). Made a bit of a breakthrough the other night. He responds incredibly well to my caiman impression and will sometimes even “charumph” back at me. The first time it happened, I thought it might have been purely coincidental…but I have since performed several different experiments- each with accompanying videos, documenting the behavior. From what I can tell, they’re by no means astrophysicists, but then they’re also not as primitive as I once thought.
