Alternate Ending; ( after seeing the scene with Tyler and Monty’s sister ) He’s alive, and healing.
Monty is charged with assault for Tyler, as Alex is charged with murder for Bryce. As we seen, Monty’s sister and Tyler have a heart to heart compelling to how damaged Monty truly is, which leads Tyler to feel sorry for him. Tyler does not file charges on Monty for sexual assault, even though what he did was unforgivable. Tyler requires Monty to seek help for his behavior. Tyler felt pity for his sister who knew him differently. Monty later apologizes to Tyler, feeling guilty for what he has done. Tyler heals after he moves forward with Monty. Monty remains close to Tyler, admiring his courage. After Monty decides to seek some help, and his father finds out about his relationship with Winston. Monty emancipates himself, after Bryce’s mother suggests safety staying with her. Monty continues to spend time with his sister, and focus on bettering himself. Monty later comes forward with how abusive his father truly was. He opens up about his father, and how he was assaulted throughout his entire childhood. Which later caused the built up aggression, and self-destructive behavior. His father then does time for his crime. Monty is not forgiven for the things he had done, however, like Bryce monty is given a chance to change. Unlike Bryce, Monty makes a difference. Monty and Winston further their relationship by making things official, as Monty finally starts to feel comfortable with himself after receiving the help he never had. Monty continues to participate in sports, and focus on his academic that way he could apply for colleges with Winston. As they finish the school year; Monty asks Winston to prom with the support of fellow classmates. Him and Winston later move in together for college that summer after graduation.
