how to find literally any post on a blog in seconds (on desktop)
there are so many posts about ~tumblr is so broken, you canât find any post on your own blog, itâs impossible, bluhrblub~
I am here to tell you otherwise! it is in fact INCREDIBLY easy to find a post on a blog if youâre on desktop/browser and you know what youâre doing:
url.tumblr.com/tagged/croissant will bring up EVERY post on the blog tagged with the specific and exact phrase #croissant. every single post, every single time. in chronological order starting with the most recent post. note: it will not find #croissants or that time you made the typo #croidnssants. for a tag with multiple words, itâs just /tagged/my-croissant and it will show you everything with the exact phrase #my croissant
url.tumblr.com/tagged/croissant/chrono will bring up EVERY post on the blog tagged with the exact phrase #croissant, but it will show them in reverse order with the oldest firstÂ
url.tumblr.com/search/croissant isnât as perfect at finding everything, but itâs generally loads better than the search on mobile. it will find a good array of posts that have the word croissant in them somewhere. could be in the body of the post (op captioned it âlook at my croissantâ) or in the tags (#man I want a croissant). it wonât necessarily find EVERYTHING like /tagged/ does, but I find itâs still more reliable than search on mobile. you can sometimes even find posts by a specific user by searching their url. also, unlike whatever random assortment tumblr mobile pulls up, it will still show them in a more logically chronological order
url.tumblr.com/day/2020/11/05 will show you every post on the blog from november 5th, 2020, in case youâre taking a break from croissants to look for destiel election memesÂ
url.tumblr.com/archive/ is search paradise. easily go to a particular month and see all posts as thumbnails! search by post type! search by tags but as thumbnails now
url.tumblr.com/archive/filter-by/audio will show you every audio post on your blog (you can also filter by other post types). sometimes a little imperfect if youâre looking for a video when the op embedded the video in a text post instead of posting as a video post, etc
url.tumblr.com/archive/tagged/croissant will show you EVERY post on the blog tagged with the specific and exact phrase #croissant, but it will show you them in the archive thumbnail view divided by months. very useful if youâre looking for a specific picture of a croissant that was reblogged 6 months ago and want to be able to scan for it quicklyÂ
url.tumblr.com/archive/filter-by/audio/tagged/croissant will show you every audio post tagged with the specific phrase #croissant (you can also filter by photo or text instead, because I donât know why you have audio posts tagged croissant)Â
the tag system on desktop tumblr is GENUINELY amazing for searching within a specific blog!Â
caveat: this assumes a person HAS a desktop theme (or âcustom themeâ) enabled. a âcustom themeâ is url.tumblr.com, as opposed to tumblr.com/url. Iâve heard you have to opt-into the former now, when it used to be the default, so not everyone HAS a custom theme where you can use all those neat url tricks.Â
if the person doesnât have a âcustom themeâ enabled, youâre beholden to the search bar. still, Iâve found the search bar on tumblr.com/url is WAY more reliable than search on mobile. for starters, it tends to bring posts up in a sensible order, instead of dredging up random posts from 2013 before anything else
if youâre on mobile, Iâm sorry. godspeed and good luck finding anything. (my one tip is that if youâre able to click ON a tag rather than go through the search bar, youâll have better luck. if your mutual has recently reblogged a post tagged #croissant, you can click #croissant and itâll bring up everything tagged #croissant just like /tagged/croissant. but if thereâs no readily available tag to click on, you have to rely on the mobile search bar and its weird bizarre whims)Â
Seriously. I mean it. Because inevitably you will love something that no one else loves. Or you will love something that everyone loves and people will shit all over it because itâs âso trite and unimaginative and done.â Or you will love something that no one else has ever heard of. Or you will love something dark and edgy and or obscure and people will roll their eyes and say, âWhat, do you want people to think youâre dark and edgy and obscure?â
Alternatively, you will not love the thing that everyone else loves, and you will wonder what precisely is wrong with you that the sight of that thing is aggravating the shit out of you now when the whole world sings its praises as one.
People will irritate you. Theyâll irritate you with headcanons that make no sense and misinterpretations of canon. They will make the same jokes 500 times. They will overwhelm your corner of fandom with something you either are tired of hearing about or donât care about. They will post art that isnât theirs. You will meet people who think you are the greatest person ever and bombard you with messages only to wander off when they find someone new or shinier; you will meet people whom you admire and who do not really seem to notice you exist.Â
So give zero fucks about it. Seriously. Like what you like, blacklist what you need to blacklist, and ignore everything else. Be friends, play nice, enjoy it. And in the meantime, just do you. Like what you like, love what you love, and to hell with all the rest of it.Â
I'm opening up some writing commissions for doing some short (250-2500~ words) stories for FFXIV (so I can pre-order Dawntrail for my birthday in April)~ I'll be starting with 10 open slots!
Pricing will be; $10 for ever 250 words, with payment going through Paypal (I can also do Venmo if wanted) with a turn-around of 1-2 weeks depending on length and my disability acting up. (my paypal is lgbtzelo@/gmail.com for invoices).
Message me with a prompt and how long you'd like the story to be, once I have accepted payment will be due upfront, or for max sent as a google doc link, and if wanted I will post it here on tumblr and/or Ao3.
Right now there isn't much I WONT write, but if the commission idea is something I am not comfortable writing or don't think I can do it proper justice I reserve the right to say no to that commission.
Hi! My name is Sea, and I have an unhealthy obsession with taking on large community projects! This is my Final Fantasy XIV Community Compendium, focusing on linking as many XIV writing/roleplaying discords, forums, events, free companies and resources as I can get my hands on. While the inspired by and predominately tailored for roleplayers, it should have something for anyone looking to engage creatively with the game in some capacity. â
If you'd like to simply check out what the Compendium is all about and miss my waffling below, any of the links on this post will take you there â but this is a handy one! A reblog also goes a huge way to increase my reach and find communities/resources; you're also welcome to share this post with people not on Tumblr who might be looking for communities/resources or have something to add.
Why a compendium, Sea?
In my opinion, the way people engage with fandom and communities has changed. It was once extremely common for people to hop onto the XIV Roleplaying Forum or find people looking for contact on Tumblr, but most of these resources have shifted to Discord. While Discord is great for keeping a community when you have it, the isolation of these communities into hidden, secular spaces doesnât do a lot to help people find them in the first place and creates an air of loneliness/disconnect for new players or people looking to find specific communities.
I donât believe that a person should necessarily be a part of x amount of servers to find the one that suits them, nor that all communities should necessarily be on Discord â or just plain hard to find.
However, while this is currently the standard, Iâd like to try and help these communities be fostered and seen in a place accessible to basically anyone with an internet connection. If one community has benefited from this document, then I have done my part.
This is my monthly drive to showcase the Compendium but find new things to add! A lot of the below is already on the document, but I split communities/resources into four distinct spaces:
Large-scale community discords such as the XIV Reddit Discord, Hunts, GPOSE promotions and broad-space roleplay servers that harbour a large number of people and are publicly available to all. These may not have an RP focus but will assist in other aspects of the game.
Free Company & community-focused servers. E.G. an Ishgardian Roleplay server whose mission is to foster a community for Ishgardian characters; an EU server created to help players struggling with timezones. This also includes event discords such as fight clubs, markets, cafes, etc.
Friend/casual servers that have a roleplay element but may be just a group of people looking to find others to hang out and do content with.
Miscellaneous. Likely to be less community servers and more resources such as lore compilations, how-to guides, gposing techniques, boosting blogs, etc. These may get their own dedicated section later.
Want to submit? You can either fill out the google form here, send me an ask with the relevant information contained on the Compendium, or join my Discord at SEAFLOOR (21+ only)!
Is my space suitable for the Compendium? Most of the time, yes! Below the read more is some more information/stipulations. Again, all accessible on the document! đ޸
Below are the following things I do not accept on the Compendium:
Personal/Single-Character LFC ads.
Content intended for or can be used for bullying, harassment and OOC gossip. E.g. âSecretsâ blogs, receipts, callout posts, etc. This does not include IC tabloid blogs used to generate RP.
Communities that do not have an RP/writing element (large-scale exempt).
Anything I find personally distasteful or goes against the spirit of this project.
Common-sense rule applies.
FAQ.
I want to put my community on the compendium but we have an application process. Is this okay?
Yes! Just note somewhere in your application that's a requirement. The only thing that is mandatory for the Compendium is that you must be open to new members or have a public-facing/accessible facet. There's no point advertising a community if no one can join it in some way!
I want to put my community on the compendium but I only have x number of members â
Also totally okay! People don't start with large communities. Activity is a must but, whether your server has two or two thousand members, if you're looking for new people to join, I'd love to help you find people.
I want to put my community on the compendium but I worry its too niche?
Okay, and? If your Eorzean Fishing Alliance has four members but you roleplay every second weekend, I still want to know about it.
What resources/communities can I add if I'm not the owner of them?
Mutual consent is extremely important to me, so anything that isn't a large-scale community OR a publicly accessible resource must be endorsed by the owner/admin/moderators in order to be added to the compendium.
I operate under the assumption that a resource posted to a public space (tumblr, googledocs, youtube, etc) is open to all. A large-scale community is one with a significant member count or openly advertises itself as being accessible to everyone for whatever purpose it serves.
If in doubt, please get in touch with me. I'm happy to contact your community owners for you!
How active does a community need to be?
If you find a community has not been active in about two/three months, send me a message and I'll take a look at it. Communities have ebbs and flows, especially event spaces that may take hiatuses depending on member interest/life events. I'm not strict in my implementation provided a space isn't dead.
If a link or anything is broken, absolutely contact me about that.
I have [insert a question not stated here]?
No drama! Send me an ask or use the #Compendium channel in my Discord!
As it has been... too long since I did a headcount post. I think it's time I changed that, kupo!
Please like/reblog this post if you are an active Final Fantasy XIV blog focusing on one (or more) of the following: roleplay, writing & worldbuilding.
It does not matter how active you are at all three, only that you participate in some of it and would like to follow more likeminded people.
The bigger this post gets, the more people can have a look through it and follow people they like the look of! You can also reblog this post to give a little blurb about yourself, which I'll reblog back here, or even make you're own separate post tagging @mooglemeet that I will reblog for extra traction!
This headcount was posted 3/9/2024 to help gauge overall activity of users on it!
I'm interested in collaborating with RP communities and hosting small, independent events based around dungeon delving. I run these using a lightweight d6-based system.
It's my goal to bring insular circles of RPers together and create lasting connections between them, and insodoing, make my character a small part of many stories.

I mostly do roleplay and gpose, and I'm always happy to meet new friends and make new RP connections! Please feel free to take a look at my pinned post, and send me a message if you're so inclined! c:
So uh. Anyways. Hi yes dusting off this account bc XIV twitter is actually genuinely unpleasant right now.
My nameâs Scar and I need XIV folks to follow since itâs been years since Iâve used tumblr and my feed is more than a bit out of date. Just shoot me a like and Iâll see about following. (It will be from my main since this is a sideblog but I promise you will know itâs me.) I donât f4f and I wonât unfollow if you do, so donât let metrics scare you in regards to me.
Iâm on Famfrit over in Primal. Youâll catch me on Scarlet Varlineau and occasionally on my Haurchefantâs Lust, (friend group made a 7 deadly Haurchefants FC donât ask for more info bc not even I can explain why) Scarlet Nightdreamer, and Amarone Teaurelins alts.
Iâm a mildly sweaty raider and will probably winge about raid progress here and there but Iâm mostly here to make steady progress with friends.
I also achievement hunt and fish on the side. Be prepared for a LOT of fish posting bc I like to keep threads on Twitter whenever I catch another big fish I can cross off the list.
Library of Congress - historical posters and photos
NASA - you guessed it
Creative Commons - all kinds of stuff, homie
Even Adobe has some free images
There are so many ways to make moodboards, bookcovers, and icons without plagiarizing! As artists, authors, and other creatives, we need to be especially careful not to use someone elseâs work and pass it off as our own.Â
Please add on if you know any more resources for free images <3
As of 03/16, I have added the following communities (in no particular order) to Sea's Community Compendium:
Au Ra Skin and Scale Care Guide â a headcanon/lore post surrounding au ra skin and scale care. Created by @blutkatze on Tumblr.
Dalton Family Estate â a family-owned employment company in Ul'dah.
The Honeystone â An Ala Mhigan themed establishment maintained by @magnificent-bee.
Teatime â a med-heavy roleplay Free Company hosting Teatime at Shroudrose Teahouse @tea-ffxiv.
I've done a lot of boosting for this lately but, just to reiterate, not only can you submit communities now via my ask box or google form, but you can also post your communities via my Discord at SEAFLOOR! If you're community leader doesn't utilise Tumblr, please let them know they can get in contact with me via that method.
Existing Compendium members can also post their communities in the Discord's affiliate section! It isn't mandatory, but the offer is there. â¨
My only major stipulation is that anyone joining the server MUST be over the age of twenty-one. If you're younger, please utilise the existing submission methods. It's nothing personal, I just don't want minors in my space.
I am also beginning to DM community leaders/resource owners for permission to be featured in the Compendium. "I'm not sure if my things count/are good enough," you say? Didn't ask, it is, shut up; get loved, nerds. This is predominately for communities I see via Tumblr, as I don't have the time to canvas multiple Discords and I'm not thrilled about messaging people I'm not mutuals with out of the blue. Again, please drop a line to the leaders of your community if you think they might want to be featured, especially if they're not on Tumblr.
There is never any pressure to be a part of the document and there's no hard feelings if you decline.
That's all from me (I said, like a liar), have a great day!
Tumblr added a bunch of tracking shit to share urls, so now ill teach you how to get rid of them
if you copy a url by sharing on the website, the link will look like this
getting rid of tracking in these is easy, just delete everything after the question mark and you are golden
in the case for the app, its slightly more complicated
first you have to delete at. that appears before tumblr(.)com the other tracking shit on this one has a lot more info, so please, clean app urls. after the first set of numbers, there's a / you have to delete everything after it
In a corner of Castrum Oriens out in Gyr Abania's Fringes, the Honeystone serves up traditional Ala Mhigan (and inspired) food and drink to travelers passing through the region.
Join us Sunday, March 17 from 7-9 EST for good food, good drinks and good company!
Check us out at Bryndhildr- Goblet - Ward 20 Plot 11

Two updates in two days, you say? I know! However, this time I have gone insane. By all accounts, this is a pretty big update. â
As of 03/9, I have added the following communities (in no particular order) to Sea's Community Compendium:
The Glitter Hall â an IC dance party event hosted by @miqomischief and associated with @legacyofafterlight.
La Vipère â An IC upscale hookah lounge and host club located in Ishgard. @la-vipere-ffxiv
Story Hall â an IC Storytelling cafe also hosted by @miqomischief and associated with @legacyofafterlight.
Ainyan's Gshade to Reshade â All shaders originally used for Gshade updated to the most-recent version of Reshade! Maintained by @ainyan.
The Crystal Chronicle â an IC news outlet reporting on people, places and things in the Crystal Datacentre. @crystalchroniclenews
