I think one of the funniest abortion stances I've heard was from my parents neighbor. He's a like, hard-core libertarian viking larper guy who is very tall and very fat and very bald.
He believes a fetus is human with a soul, but also its "basically attacking the woman's body" so if she wants to get rid of it, that's "basically self-defense". He compared it to shooting a home invader. So he supports abortion not as healthcare, but as killing a baby in self-defense
Y'know I'm so glad someone reminded me of this. Because this was also discussed.
My stepmother did NOT like the way her Libertarian Viking Neighbor framed pregnancy as the fetus "attacking the woman". She incredulously told him this was extremely disrespectful to expectant mothers to portray pregnancy as so violent and negative.
Libertarian Viking Neighbor's response was that people consensually hurt each other all the time, and "there's like a whole community about that, with the acronym the one that starts with a B" And his reasoning was that if the mother was consenting to bring attacked by the baby, it in fact wasn't violent and negative because there was consent.
He brought up people consensually hurting each other, didn't go for one of the obvious answers like boxing or body mods or something, no he went STRAIGHT TO BDSM and he DIDN'T EVEN REMEMBER THE ACRONYM

"warm, shallow seas" is one of the most beautiful phrases in paleontology and it's everywhere... these mollusks lived in warm, shallow seas... scientists think that photosynthetic life evolved in warm, shallow seas... in that era the Earth was covered by warm, shallow seas...
I wish I was resting by an antediluvian warm, shallow sea

Not to stick my dick in the wasp nest here but I just walked past a white dude with the longest crustiest dreadlocks I have ever seen in my LIFE and if I do not exclaim my bafflement and horror *sonewhere* then I'm afraid I will lose control of myself and gently ask him Why
Like we've GONE OVER cultural appropriation for fucking decades now, that shouldn't be news to anyone, and anyone capable of a google search should be able to grasp that the "vikings" didn't ACTUALLY DO THAT
But even if you boil away the "I don't believe appropriation is a real thing" people and the "well hmm you weren't THERE" people and even the "it's not that deep and it looks cool" people, there should still be the irrefutable fact that STRAIGHT HAIR DOESN'T LOCK?
Boy out here has KNOTTED MATS that are nearly transparent blond at the roots and fucking BROWN the other 70%
Son that's DIRT
What the FUCK
When we lived in Denver, my friend @kittycattyy420 and I would roll down the window and start chanting “WHITE DREADS WHITE DREADS WHITE DREADS” whenever we drove past somebody like this. It was always so upsetting to see, because it was YUCKY. We unfortunately, could not help but exclaim our bafflement.
This is the only known photo of the first trans woman to have her gender legally recognized in Switzerland.
In 1914, Adine T. sent a letter to her local police to grant her a pass to dress as she pleased. She petitioned that "I be granted permission to live as a woman, to wear female clothing and to pursue female occupations, and to be considered a woman before the world in all and every respect, since my emotional feelings are totally feminine and I feel unspeakably unhappy in male clothing."
Her gender was so clear that even the conservative Swiss government had to recognize it. Obtaining permission to live as a woman "is a matter of life and death for me," Adine added.
111 years ago, it was the first pass of its kind in her nation (although not the first in Europe). When interviewed, Adine described herself similarly to other trans lesbians in the 20th century: "a homosexual woman in a male body.” Source: Matthias Ruoss, "Arnold, Arnoldine, Adine."
