Now, maybe you'll be like, so what? Why is it harmful, he unliked it right? Many "tom stans" have defended him with saying it was a mistake, however this is unlikely, first of all he follows J.K that's a yikes already, and second of all, Tom never likes something, he rarely likes something and he isn't that active besides promoting livestreams, in the course of his years in the platform, he has liked very few tweets, meaning that it had some sort of meaning for him to like it.
Here's the theory, what if it was actually an accident? He's still harming the trans community, as Plenty of ppl have brought it up to him and he hasn't spoken up about not one bit, bare in mind he's still active, he doesn't hesitate to praise and low-key sexualize Draco even tho he's a minor but that's another topic and he's very active in tiktok, or instagram, despite plenty of ppl bringing this up on order for him to speak up, he doesn't pay enough attention and focus on the hype of Draco tok and ppl asking him to sing other songs. This is extremely hurtful for the trans community, as remaining silent and not speaking in the situation, yet being active in other platforms and pretending it's nothing has send off the message that he supports Jk Rowling, to the point that he said that she was a genius... Yeah, the transphobic TERF that supports gay therapy to stop being gay? That Jk Rowling.
Now then, why are people giving you so much criticism? Bare in mind that everything that he has done is extremely harmful to the trans community, more so when they try and bring awareness, tom stans tend to do transphobic things towards them, misgender them, using slurs, and silencing them to the point of harassment.
People are not being petty, they're hurt because no matter how hard they try to bring awareness, people who like them are doing such hurtful things and defending a 33 white cis year old man, worse so, most of this people are cis, if you are cis and not trans this message is for you YOU DON'T GET TO SAY WHETHER TOM IS TRANSPHOBIC OR NOT, IS NOT YOUR PLACE TO DO SO.
Tom has disregarded this people trying to speak up, perhaps it's because Jk Rowling made his career? Not really, Plenty of actors from Harry Potter has speak out on this, and stopped supporting JK, such as the actors who played as Harry Potter,Ron Weasley, Hermione Granger, Percy Weasley, Tom Riddle (chamber of secrets tom riddle) Newt Scamander and others.
There's really no excuse with what he has done, remaining silent about this has made plenty of people angry and disappointed, it is not petty, harming and disregarding an entire community isn't petty. I hope I changed your perspective of him, because if you still support him after this, then you'll disregard trans people as well as him.
