The Amaryllis Belladonna is aka the magic lily (Asra is a magician). Aka the Resurrection lily. This alrdy screams Asra cuz we all know he resurrected the apprentice.
It’s also called the surprise lily, why? Because it has a tendency to just like grow whenever and wherever as if it has a mind of its own. Blooming somewhere then disappearing suddenly.
Before and during the events of the game, we know that Asra has a tendency to just up and leave and then come back again.
The Amaryllis also has its own backstory/Greek mythology.
Amaryllis, a maiden, fell in love with Alteo, who had a passion for flowers.
Amaryllis went to the Oracle to learn how to win his affections. On the Oracle’s orders, Amaryllis stood in front of Alteo’s house for thirty nights, piercing her heart w a golden arrow. On the thirtieth night, a beautiful flower grew from her blood and helped her win Alteo’s love.
So here, in a sense, you can see how she ‘sacrificed’ her heart for her love.
Annnnd yep Asra sacrificed half of his heart for the Apprentice, his love.
In the case of Atropa Belladonna,
Ehhhh I’ve only got one good symbolism for this.
Belladonna translates to Beautiful Lady.
This is bc the Atropa Belladonna’s berries’ juice was squeezed into women’s eyes. The effect would be that the pupil would dilate which women thought was pretty/beautiful and would use that to attract suitors.
However, the berries are poisonous; those who put the juice in their eyes would eventually become blind.
The Atropa Belladonna eventually gained this concept of “Giving up something for the price of love”.
And again, Asra gave up half of his heart, the price, to bring back his love, the apprentice.
