I know I already haven't really been active, but I think it's time that I finally announce a full hiatus. Over the past week, I've really been evaluating my continued involvement with the sims and realized that I just don't feel like playing it. I know things can still change with the selling and stuff but I realized that it didn't matter because my motivation to play just isn't there.
I wouldn't say I'm disappearing forever. I just need a really long break where I don't even think about the sims. There may be a point where I come back to my blog in the future I just don't have an estimate of when that would be or what I would be doing.
Before I go though I wanted to say thank you to everyone who has made being a part of this community so special! There's a reason I've put this off for so long and it's because I will genuinely miss the people here.
Aspen: Dad, I can’t do it.
Phoenix: Of course you can. You just have to keep practicing.
Aspen: But I keep falling and my legs hurt and my back hurts and my BUTT HURTS! I’m never going to be good at snowboarding like you are.
Phoenix: Do you want to quit?
Aspen: …
Phoenix: Look, I’m not going to force you to keep going if you really don’t want to. I know how frustrating it can be. I started out the same way.
Aspen: You did?
Phoenix: Yep. The trick to getting good at something is being willing to be really bad at it for a while first. But, I promise, if you keep trying, you’ll get there. You’re already doing better than you were yesterday. Right?
Aspen: [sighs] Yeah.
Phoenix: So, what do you say? Keep going?
Aspen: [nods] Keep going.
Aspen: Keep going. You can do it.
Aspen: I did it, I did it! Did you see me?
Phoenix: You bet I did! You nailed it!
Phoenix: I’m so proud of you!
Aspen: [laughing] Oh my god, dad, put me down!
Phoenix: Ready for the big slopes?
Aspen: Uhhh… maybe I should practice a little more first.

I'm sure @moonwoodhollow is getting tired of the tags, but when I requested an art gallery she surprised me by adding this absolutely gorgeous vampire nightclub on the basement level! As usual, my imagination ran away with me. I couldn't help but extend this night out as a way to widen our vampire universe! And I'd be remiss if I didn't credit @eljeebee, @raye-sim, @simvanie, @someone-elsa, @invisiblequeen and @esotericas-sims for the background actors. My scenes would feel a lot more empty without everyone's generous contributions. 💗
Helena: You vampires sure do love your secret underground establishm- Whoa.
Lilith: Welcome to Underworld. Artemesia’s little gallery is good cover – the humans like it, and it doesn’t arouse suspicion – but this is the real draw.
Helena: [awestruck] It looks like something straight out of the 1920s.
Lilith: It is. Prohibition was one of the best things that could have happened to vampires. For once, being below ground was all the rage. Speakeasies provided our food and our fun. The Faulkners have kept this place well preserved.
Helena: The Faulkners?
Lilith: They own the building. Nico tickles the ivories, Toni slings the booze. They were the first vampires we met, after Straud. We bonded over our shared immortal siblinghood. How quaint to think on it now. We had a grand old time in San Myshuno until we ran out of money and drifted our separate ways. The two of them landed here and swindled the owner out of the property in a rather blood-stained poker game. I’m afraid it’s vampires only these days. There were a few too many… unfortunate incidents. But Toni’s got the finest blood reserves on tap, and we’re free to drop the ruse and reveal our true natures.
Helena: Hold on. Is this you?
Lilith: Oh, that silly old thing. I always forget I had a brief modeling stint back in the day. Now, I think it’s time we get you loosened up. That plasma fruit nectar you’ve been sipping with my brother will hardly do.
Toni: Well, well, well, if it isn’t Lilith Vatore. I reached for the house blend as soon as I spotted you.
Lilith: Excellent.
Toni: And for your… friend?
Helena: Oh, uh, I’ll have what she’s having.
Lilith: [laughs softly] Go easy on her, Ton. She’s a bit of a lightweight.
Toni: With you, I doubt she will be for long.
Helena: [dubiously] What’s in this anyway? Besides the obvious.
Lilith: [conspiratorially] Toni fancies herself a chemist in her spare time.
Helena: [too loudly] Drugs? Lilith, you can’t just hand me a drink and not tell me it’s-
Lilith: You’re immortal, Helena, and you must start living like it. This is one of the few human pleasures still available to us – except now our bodies have no limits, which makes it even more pleasurable.
Helena: I still don’t even know what exactly is in-
Lilith: You can stop drinking if you’d like, but it’s already coursing through your veins. It won’t kill you, Helena. Why can’t you just let go?
Genuinely yall make sure to install the current version of sims 4 in a secure place as a backup. maybe make 2. (edit: im looking if theres a way to revert the official version in case of accidental updates rn check back here, i may update if i find something)
grab any mods you enjoy for the current version, any you considered trying out with it. back them up.
if future updates ruin everything, we likely cant go back or get older versions of the game OR mod versions easily anymore. BACKUPS ARE EVERYTHING

Edit: one trick to launch offline without needing to unplug anything but ensure the launcher cant mess you up
you can unplug your internet/turn your wifi off beforehand on your pc. This requires you to Remember to do it, sadly.
one way you can turn your internet off without needing to unplug/leave the pc is the following
(im using win10 still) you can navigate to the Settings for your pc by pressing the windows button and clicking the Cog that says "Settings". Navigate to "Status". there you should see an option say "Change Adapter Options". this opens a new window that should have a little screen icon with "ethernet" or the like on it. right click that and click "Create Shortcut". this will put a shortcut to it on your desktop. Now on your desktop, you can right click it and click "Disable" to turn your internet connection off. to turn it back on, you can right click it and "enable" it again.
Ideally, make a desktop shortcut of your sims 4, keep the launcher off in case youre used to opening it through the launcher. Place the sims shortcut next to your new ethernet/internet shortcut. Hopefully this way seeing them next to each other will remind you to turn your interner on your pc off so the launcher cant f you over and still update...

Sure, the takeover doesn't happen until 2027, but every unit of currency you give them until then is still, ultimately, going to end up in Saudi Arabia's sovereign wealth fund and/or in Jared Kushner's pocket. And remember, Jared Kushner is Donald Trump's son-in-law who's received billions of dollars from the Saudi government, some of it during Trump's first term when Kushner was supposed to "solving" the "Middle East problem." Yeah.
So, one of the few ways we, as a global community, have to fight against these assholes, from Saudi princes to oligarchs around the world who are increasingly grabbing political power, is through our spending even on the smallest scale. Financial pressure from consumers of Disney products is how the firing of Jimmy Kimmel was prevented, for instance, when Donald Trump wanted him silenced. Disney chose money over kowtowing...for now. So be very vigilant about who you give your money to, no matter what you're buying. Stop giving money to EA right now. If you simply must have the latest Sims 4 frippery, pirate it, but it's better not to get it at all because people have to purchase it in order to share it. And after 2027, it'll just be AI garbage anyway, so who'd want it?

Atlas: Dad?
Ezra: [nods] She started calling me dad soon after Noah learned how.
Atlas: How do you feel about that?
Ezra: It takes all my willpower not to throw a party every time she says it.
Atlas: What ever happened with James?
Ezra: They called Iris to notify her when he was released, but we haven’t heard anything since.
Atlas: I hope it stays that way.
