when every social media is like "hopefully this restores oscie's confidence, it's been so sad to see him so off it this year" and i'm just sitting here like. bitch. what. he's had a functional car every weekend but one. his teammate has literally only had a functional car for one weekend. what the everliving fuck does oscar piastri, of quite literally all the top drivers with a mercedes PU, and his fans have to be bitching and moaning and getting insecure about? sit the fuck down.
I’m reading the original penny dreadful version of Sweeney Todd and it’s extremely funny how from page one every single person in the vicinity is like “oh yeah, Sweeney Todd, he’s that barber who kills people. We’re aware” and nobody really does anything about it for a while
this version of Toby is like “hey we should probably tell the cops that my lunatic boss is murdering like, a lot of people” and then Sweeney Todd talks his mom into sending him to an asylum and that’s the end of that
I swear I’m not going to liveblog this whole thing BUT: Toby’s knocked out so Sweeney Todd can take him to an asylum, and the entire coach ride he’s unconscious. When they get there, the coachman is like “…hey. Is this kid dead?” and Sweeney says “probably not!” and then the coachman goes:
“since he had got his six shillings, feeling that he had no further interest in the matter, drove away at once, and paid no more attention to it whatever”
this is hysterical to me. no wonder they got away with the murder and cannibalism for so long.
apparently this is NOT the first time his shop’s boy tried to tell everyone he was a murderer and got sent to an asylum???
Okay I’m tagging in my most knowledgable les mis mutual @pilferingapples because the theft of a silver candlestick is like, a shockingly relevant plot point in this! I thought maybe it was a reference, but it looks like this predates Les Mis by 20 years or so. could it be a reference the other way? fun coincidence? known communal symbolism???
omg that's wacky! My first instinct would be to guess that it's just that that's the most likely large source of portable silver decor in a regular person's home at the time, but ???? I don't know, I didn't know this was a Sweeney Todd thing! Does anyone else know anything about this? Was "stealing silver candlesticks" a meme of the era??
a very merry barricade day to those who celebrate
Funny how the fandom comes back once a year and then just disappears
can't pick a favourite
Happy Barricade Day to all those who celebrate!!
Im sure this time the people will rise!!
I love that Les Misérables is one of the most profound and devastating historic-tragedies ever written, but also has chapter names reminiscent of a Percy Jackson novel
(iykyk on the last one)
happy enoltaire day to all who celebrate 🍷🇫🇷🌿
no language should be mocked other than french
Birds is “oiseaux” in French.
No letter is pronunced the way it should.
And there are seven of them.
ITS PRONOUNCED “WAZO” AND YES, I WILL DIE MAD ABOUT IT
oiseaux hits every vowel in the french alphabet and manages to only be pronounced with 2 goddamn syllables
got vowels coming out the oiseaux
This will never not be funny and I will never not reblog it.

To my fellow radical leftists or otherwise curious cats, I would like to present to you this website I found called Marxist Internet Archive. Here you can find historical documents, audio excerpts, books, photos, and the like for various historical figures and political philosophies. It does look shady, but it's safe to use. It's just an old website, specifically founded on July 9th, 1998. With that being said, if you still feel unsure, I highly recommend using a Tor browser.
Did you know that the black russian terrier is also known as the ‘KGB dog’ and ‘Stalin’s dog’? This is due to the breeds origin in the Soviet Union!
Post WWII, the Red Army needed a specific type of dog to help them guard important military installations. They needed an animal that was large, intelligent, protective, and weather-resistant.
Thus, the Ministry of Defense used selective breeding to make the black russian terrier! They primarily focused on breeding the giant schnauzer, rottweilers, airedale terriers, and newfoundlands.
The result was this cute fella. Funny how they kind of look like Stalin, right?
Hi i just remembered that fidel knew that ppl accused him of killing che
Oh completely, he knew about all the accusations
It kind of breaks my heart :(
frevblr who can read french and/or shitty handwriting, what the fuck is barere writing about here…? it’s after he describes how saint-just talks shit about camille in the letter to daubigny, if that helps….
Where I've put [???] I can't make out what the word / abbreviation is - but in the first case, it has to complete mettre en accusation to make 'indicted', and the abbreviation at the end probably stands for something like 'et al.', since we know of course that others were accused, brought to trial and executed alongside Danton and Desmoulins.
Anyway, using common sense to fill in the gaps, I'm pretty sure the meaning of the text is as below:
This first impression had such an impact on Saint Just that, being some months afterwards named alongside Camille Desmoulins as a member of the National Convention, they would never share with one another their thoughts nor words; And in 1794 it was Saint Just who made the report which indicted Danton, Camille Desmoulins [et al?]
