PART ONE

This comic ended up being a challenge on every page, but I’m satisfied with how it came out and think it introduces part of Jasper’s dynamic in the cult pretty well, especially in reference to their father

The general gist is that Jasper, to the general populous of the cult, would be barred from courting at all because of her position as the Jadestone (the leader of the guard, amongst other duties). Getting married would sacrifice that position and put her into entirely new expectations, whereas her father finds her more useful where’s she’s at.

While that’s not entirely untrue, the foundational reason has to do with Jasper being trans, which is a very well-concealed secret. Their parents use acceptance as a pawn for control and leverage, while guising it as a favor. That leads them into the internalized belief that even if they could marry, no one would accept them for what they are. And that takes a very long time to unlearn.

Since the little dancing comic, me and @moonlightmidtone decided these could be good tools to dig into and develop more of the cult’s inner workings, which continues to be sadder the deeper we go lol - but this part is a little silly 😌

Edit of my juryposting 💜 after some deliberation, we decided to say goodbye to her old hair! When returning to some older character designs, it was time to update them to reflect the lore and the inspiration behind character choices. Jury, being modeled as half Korean and half Black, would have more textured hair, and it was time her design corresponded with that! I’ve been developing Jury’s family behind the scenes, so hopefully I can draw them more soon.

Some progress on a shot for a bigger project I’m working on! It’s still a small thing in the long run, but I’m hoping for it to be the first fully done animation since my thesis (as in composited and animated on 24fps)

Juryposting again!!!

I’ve been meaning to redesign her default outfit for Fate’s Fiercest, but I’ve been in such a slump regarding her for the past two years or so. I hope to revisit her lore, add some depth to her character and make her feel like an equal partner to Jasper and Fang. I’ve been unhappy with her for a while, (mostly just insecure), so it’s nice to find that love for her again. Jury has consistently been one of my absolute favorite NPCs in all of my campaigns!!

Throughout developing Jasper’s story, we’ve realized that even in the original playthrough during campaign, it REALLY lended itself to represent their acceptance of their own femininity despite their upbringing - so we’ve decided to commit to nonbinary transfem as endgame for her!

Long time no see!!!!!!!!!! Pls enjoy these crumbs 😌 I have been in an art slump!! For so long!! And I haven’t draw my beloved Jury or their partners (Fang and Jasper) in SO LONGGGGGG. So, out of nowhere I got the motivation and now you guys have this!!

Edit: this is also the first sketch of amab jury so it still has some tweaking to go — I must remember that their hair is bone straight so I cannot draw them with that kind of fluffy hair 😔
