🕵♀️dancing star precure 3rd stage assumptions🕵♀️
Seriously. I have so many questions
First and foremost: this post is made by someone who has NOT yet watched the third stage play as of July 2026, and as someone who is actively avoiding any potential spoilers please please PLEASE DO NOT SPOIL ME IN THE COMMENTS OR REBLOGS. I'll be waiting for and watching it once a subtitled version has been released so I can atleast follow along with what's happening.
Okay, with that being out of the way, let Jessica's Sleuthing (well not really) begin!!!
After watching the 2nd stage play, which btw is an absolute masterpiece of theatrical plays (that I have watched...), it left me with a plethora of questions and even speculations in my head. Seriously, I have never been this invested in a series as far as I remembered to even theorize with some lore, so with that being said...
Here's a list of questions, speculations, and theories I came up with for certain characters and events after numerous rewatching of the 1st and 2nd stages. Keep in mind all of these may not be true as they are all mere assumptions at the end of the day, so keep the corrections to yourselves if you have already watched the 3rd stage.
Oh, and listen to these as background music ahahah
1. Gaku's. Lost. Loved. One.
Hoo boy, I have to start off with a big one.
Who was that lost loved one? How and why did they die?? (Ofc it's not necessarily meant to be graphic but considering how this series can go...) Plus, how important that loved one is to Gaku for him to develop suicidal thoughts once they passed???
There is no way I would casually forget that very line said by a character with a cheerful, energetic, and positive personality 24/7. I was so close to knowing the info the moment Nemu asked Hayato that ever-burning question but ofc Gaku, funnily enough, had to intervene, thus leaving all the answers on the actual performance...
🔍What if that loved one died bedridden? Okay, it may be just a minor detail, but it's something I'm genuinely curious with. And Gaku, who was there to check on them, happened to witness their very last moments... I can't even imagine him sobbing at how that became an unfortunate core memory of his childhood🥲...🔍
2. The Mystery of Pas de Deux
Ah, Pas de Deux. The beautiful, whimsical man in colorful garb whose voice fluctuates like the weather in my country and will most likely yeet a table at you if u dare call him old. Surely he doesn't have any sus motivations behind him-
Oop, I stand corrected.
Well, it's not like I totally forgot about this scene from the 1st stage. It still lingers in my mind how he casually apprehended Muroi to purify him and obtain his Heartbeat Jewel WHILE THE PRECURES WERE IN THE MIDDLE OF A PERFORMANCE.
DUDE YOU PROBABLY COULD'VE BEEN CAUGHT, BUT IT'S CLEVER YOU CHOSE TO DO IT IN AN AREA WHERE THEY COULDN'T SEE YOU (proof: in the beginning of the 2nd stage they mentioned how they regretted not defeating him and recounted how they never saw him after that so safe to say they didn't have to witness an early betrayal pfft)
QUESTION THOUGH IS MUROI OKAY??? DON'T TELL ME PADDO LEFT HIM IN A DITCH OR SUMN I COULD SEE HIM DO THAT-
I also realized that him intervening right after Muroi survived the Precures' Cosmic Star Beat attack WAS INTENTIONAL. HE WAS PRETENDING TO BE NAÏVE ABOUT LOSING HIM SO THAT HE GOING TO BE THE ONE TO FINISH HIM OFF INSTEAD.
Don't forget that introductory scene in the 2nd stage as well. His true side was unveiled when he said something along the lines of how "humans are greedy and foolish creatures" ALL IN THAT CUTESY FAIRY VOICE OF HIS
🔍What if the humans were the main source of conflict that led to him resenting them? What they did is a mystery even for me to come up with though.🔍
I should also thank Rosaliard for giving us more lore bombs about this man bc WDYM HE HAS THE HIGHEST RANK AMONG THE DESPARADE GENERALS????? HOLY WHAT-
Plus, that bright, sparkly getup of his? It was actually a fake form according to her...
Kinda makes sense if you think about it... being the highest ranking member meant needing so much power to retain such forms and for his own objective. He did mention to Gaku and Maito during the Tengen shrine arc that he doesn't need magic to assist with cleaning to "preserve his powers" or something and that his human form uses more of it than his fairy form, further contributing my suspicions.
Speaking of those two, it also leaves me feeling conflicted at how he truly feels about the Precure boys; on one hand, he sees them as a tool for personal gain by providing them the Stella Bracelets to assist with his Heartbeat Jewel collecting (you could also consider the Otogiri twins as he was the one who provided the Evil Bracelets, but instead it was used for controlling the Rhythm of Darkness); on the other hand, he has acted like a protective parental figure many times now (though this could also fall under how he wants them alive for his goal to let them succumb into greater despair, but with the way he interacts with them, it seemed so genuine and heartfelt, like he was that cool uncle telling you stories of his childhood kind of vibe)
🔍This also led me to theorize...
Pas de Deux's powers are actually memory manipulation.
Do y'all not realize everytime there are transitional scenes occuring (such as time skipping to a few months) Paddo is always there???
That, along with his duty of collecting Heartbeat Jewels from victims of Desparade, all their memories of being involved in it whatsoever become erased???🔍
3. Pas de Deux's partner
It's been hinted during the epilogue of the 1st play that Paddo has a dance partner bc his name translates to "step for two" aka a pair dance in ballet and he outright states that this partner was "unavailable at the moment". During the 2nd stage play, it was confirmed that his partner is male when Nobara picked up the hesitance in his eyes when he offered a hand to dance with her. Also, that led me to ask...
What happened to him and his partner?
🔍One theory I came up with is that his partner succumbed to the dark side or sumn bc of what humans did or maybe other related factors.
Another is what if his partner was in a coma (or, to put it elegantly, "under an eternal slumber") which is why Paddo is desperate to complete the Score of Hope to grant his wish to bring him back and also desperate to not get on the king's nerves in that way (also would add that the king probably forced him a deal or sumn)
Crack theory: Paddo is basically hallucinating that his partner is still alive and he's being manipulated into collecting Heartbeat Jewels for his own gain but he will be betrayed by the king in the end ahahahhahah (I say as I get dragged into the asylum)🔍
4. WHO👏IS👏THE👏KING???
DUN DUN DUUUNNNNN!
This question came into my mind while watching the scene where Rosaliard finally becomes purified.
Interesting bit of dialogue, Paddo👀
🔍What if the king was influenced by a darker force that caused him to become this way? Villians aren't born, they're made.🔍
I also made a separate section dedicated to what I want to see/what are my predictions for the 3rd stage play to occur, and yes I get some of these may or may not be shown:
Maito's transformation sequence, longer
Sasana's backstory explained a little bit more
Hayato's backstory
Otogiri twins bc one appearance isn't enough
More attacks 'cause they're cool
The introductory scene would show Pas de Deux's backstory in a fairytale-like manner
So yea that wraps up my sleuthing! I can't wait to watch the 3rd stage play (and party!) for myself to confirm if my theories are true or not, and also I'm dyingggggg to know what happened next. I shall keep my eyes peeled and ears open👀👂
Loved this post! I really liked your takes and how you explained everything so thoughly. Also would really like a separate post about your wishes for the third play, I know you already dedicated a small section at the end of thia post, but I'm just so invested in the way you wrote everything even if I already saw the play!
Also, little clarification cuz it makes sense since the sub could have been understood in the way you said as well. In the scene where Pado says "they'll protect this world he once loved" referring to the precure as he holds Rosaliard, he is referring to his partner, not the king.
I'm pretty interested in seeing everyone's theories for the third play before it comes out, so I'd love to see more posts like this one!
big fan of ray-of-sunshine characters who get scary when theyre being protective

This is genius! I love this Tumblr convoy, but I love even more how you managed to match each character to each sentence, like wow even the characters gesturing for numbers match the audio!
Made a little crack video of bokupre with random videos I found on the internet so enjoy. Might make another one in the future.
『Dancing☆Starプリキュア』 The Stage3 (x)
Dancing star Precure once again strikes with one of the most heartfelt lines I have heard in a while.
I read a post by this japanese twitter account that made a very interesting point:
while Kouga presents himself as a traditional, very macho kinda guy, Sasana is the complete opposite.
Kouga acts very manly most of the time, sometimes being over the top. Despite this, his Cure form is the only one with long hair and the dance he specializes in is the Kagura dance. This dance is mostly done by japanese priestressess, so women.
On the other hand, Sasana is presented as a very sensual, feminine type of man. His preferred type of dance is the Soul Dance, which like he explained:
This can also be seen as him hoping for everyone to be accepted, because he himself is different than the standard of masculinity. At the same time, this isn't presented in an over the top, stereotypical way.
I really like this writing choice, wether it was intentional or not. Usually the more sensitive, feminine guy is presented in very stereotypical ways in media. Meanwhile the macho dude with jerk personality is presented as desirable, sometimes even romanticizing his toxic behaviour.
See the nice thing about bokupre is the fact that it breaks this mold. Kouga is just a high schooler and his idea of what a man is supposed to be like is clearly swayed by the many pressures society puts on young men.
At the same time, that doesen't mean he is a total jerk with no redeeming qualities. He's still just a kid after all, but the show never tries to excuse his flaws, it just presents them as part of him. And with those it also presents his best attributes.
He clearly cares about his juniors, although he struggles to show it. He also trusts Sasana a lot, never looking down on him or thinking he wouldn't be able to keep up in the fight with Desparade just because he doesen't fit in the traditional "strong man" mold.
These two traits are clearly shown when Kouga tells Pado that they don't need other cures to help them fight since they would just get hurt clearly stating that he and Sasana are enough to fight the bad guys.
It's also interesting to notice how when in Cure form, their roles kinda switch. Kouga is a lot more worried about making sure no one gets hurt, protecting his juniors, even trying to fight the evil dancers alone in order to push Gaku away to safety. He still does it in his own very harsh way, but clearly the safety of the civilians is his main priority.
Sasana also does care about it, but at the same time he showcases a very different personality when Kouga gets hurt. He stops with the theatrics and bubbly personality and becomes an extremely skilled and scary fighter.
He is so strong that he is able to defeat all the evil dancers on his own, even when Kouga, Hayato and Gaku all struggled against them.
I mean just look at his face here, homeboy was about to throw hands.
Other things the twitter creator pointed out was the fact that Sasana is a very feminine name in Japan and also the fact that his surname "Tsukimiya" comes from the word "tsuki" which means moon and which is usually given to female characters as it showcases care and sensibility.
Sorry for the long post, I just really wanted to express my love for the masterful writing of what are usually two character archetypes that I don't really like, because of how stereotypicallu they are usually portrayed.
Let me know if you like these kinds of analysis, so that I might make more in the future. Maybe about the rest of the cast.
Day 11 of posting Bokupre until the 3rd stageplay comes out
In celebration of @grandesteartherquakedreamer 's birthday, I asked them to request any scene they wanted me to post and they chose the one where Kouga and Sasana transform in the second stageplay.
Everyone please congratulate them in the comments!
Day 13 of posting Bokupre until the 3rd stageplay comes out
Let's end this series with one of the most iconic and classic of precure scenes: the first group transformation and roll call.
