what judy sees when she opens her door when richard wants to do coke:
Fav rarepair rn is Cloke x Richard. Like fuckkk that is some untapped potential right there.
Richard whose eyes, later into the book, stop looking like this
And start looking like this all the time
Richard who, later into the book, has been spotted wandering around at odd hours of the night, and whose eyes are scarily good at finding the people staring at him, but even better at staring through them rather than at them.
Richard who, later into the book, can catch someone staring from a scary distance and will continue to stare at them until his attention is divided elsewhere or the person leaves.
Richard who, later in the book, has had Judy, or occasionally Francis or one of the twins, walk into his room after not seeing him at class for a day or two and finding him pacing endlessly muttering to himself what he thinks his actually his thoughts, and is all nonsense that doesn't string together properly.
Richard who, later in the book, can be seen going through many emotions in a very short amount of time, especially when high/drunk.
Richard who, later in the book, can be caught in the middle of class staring into nothing without blinking for minutes on end with a wide-eyed look that instantly goes back to being like shown before when snapped out of it.
Richard who, later in the book, learns to mimic others to a T but in an uncanny way that makes it feels unnerving to speak to him, because he's familiar, but not in the right way.
Richard who, later in the book, becomes clearly mentally ill to others in a way that causes him to be very uncanny to everyone, including the Greek Freaks.
richard would be such a good vessel for possession
personally i think richard should be having some weird ghost sex with henry right now
hear me out on this being richard and sophie
Always down for Richard slander. But not Richard hate, never hate.
me when the book has a vile, morally reprehensible protagonist and/or an insanely unreliable narrator who's prolly making shit up
armand getting overstimulated by fledglings through the centuries
My favourite hc is that Richard is actually such an uncanny-valley person to everyone else around him because of his eyes. Like when someone meets him at first heās fine: nice, a bit shy, maybe a bit quirky, but heās like any other guy. And then when they start noticing him from a distance, heās so uncanny. He has a slouch, how he answers to things, how he reacts, which are all fairly just weird. But itās his eyes. He has this perpetual widened empty stare, with the dark pupils framed by the white of his eyes. And even when he smiles or does any other expression with the rest of his face, his eyes just stare. They donāt move, they donāt emote with the rest of him. Itās the reason why the Greek class was so drawn to him, yet thereās still that underlying unsettling feeling he gives off that makes them squirmish
Is this a safe space for me to say I always head cannon that Richard carries a tote that's very Jane Birken, battered, definitely thrifted, probably held together at the strap with one of his tacky ties. Or will I get taken out back and gifted two bullets to the head Winter style for *slightly*Ā feminizing him?
richard papen's true desire is actually getting passed around his entire friend group like a blunt
Francis said āIām going the fuck to bedā.
I simultaneously think people over villainise Richard Papen and undermine how truly fucked up he was in relation to his aggression.
Having violent urges is important to his character, he has them consistently and to a point that it does affect his relationships with the other characters. But itās also important that to maintain his role as a passive character within the narrative, he never acts on them.
only difference between me and richard is that i would've secretly let judy hit
