#5- Show of Hands
Sona stepped back for the striking dummy she’d been hitting for nearly an hour now and turned to grab the bottle of water she had set aside. A good morning workout, that’s what she called it, though the other “Echo Warriors” as Alastor had begun to call their little circle, were quite frankly surprised her hands were never bleeding after it all. Yet still… There was only so much practice for battle one could get against a fake target. That only meant one thing.
“Oi!” she cried out to the other warriors who were training in the area. “Show of hands, who wouldn’t mind a spar?”
There were no replies at first. Sona was about ready to make some snarky remark about “nobody wanting to get their asses kicked” until one volunteer stepped forward with a smile. One very stupid volunteer all things considered.
“I’ll take you on,” Mikhail said with a smirk as he raised his wooden sword and shield, and oh did Sona love that confidence. Meant she could knock him down a peg or two. After that little incident where he questioned her heritage, she was more than ready to smack him around. Especially since he wasn’t as fast with his weapons as she was with her fists.
“Sure thing!” Sona called back with the best impression of Alastor’s cheer that she could. “This’ll be fun!”
She didn’t even hesitate as the Miqo’te began to lift his weapons, immediately applying Fists of Wind then charging forward to break his guard with a Shoulder Tackle. It wasn’t meant to take him out right away, no, that wouldn’t be fair at all! Was only meant to catch him off balance a little! Quickly after the hit made impact and Mikhail let out a shout, Sona darted back to her original position. The other man’s guard was up now, sword and shield at the ready and Shield Oath applied. Wouldn’t make it easy, but still, all she had to do was break through his defenses and it was sold!
She darted forward again, making feints and easily blocked attacks simply to read how he moved, dodging each sword blow with relative ease. With that judged, she switched to Fist of Fire and one use of Arm of the destroyer to fully make him lose his balance, and a well timed punch and kick caused Mikhail to fall to the ground.
“I win!” came the cheer with a smirk of her own.
This one would have been longer and more developed probably but I have like 3 minutes on school wifi to get this up so shit man here we go! :’D
