A taste of Fall
Yesterday it barely broke 71° all day because of the rain! While it wasn't necessarily fall like... it was amazing to have cooler weather. This morning I feel almost recharged and I feel the creative energies beginning to wake up! I can't wait until fall is actually here!
A 9-hour visit
One of my good friends came to town for a wedding and she crashed at my place for the night. There was no way I was letting her sleep in her rental car! We chatted for a few hours in the middle of the night when she got here, and about two hours when we woke up. Now that she's left I'm incredibly sad. It's hard being in the military when people you come to care about and share so much with move away.
Updated: My Path to Midwifery
Updated - August 2, 2017: My path to midwifery will be a little long, but I’ll get there eventually.
Overall goals:
Bachelors degree in Human Development and Family Studies
Finish military contract
Enroll into accelerated nursing/midwifery program
Complete accelerated nursing portion, obtain RN licensure
Graduate midwifery program
Obtain CNM licensure
I need to finish my current bachelors degree and reenlist for another 4 years (unfortunately) to finish it. It will take me 3 more years to complete the degree without paying a penny for it. This will put me at getting out of the military in 2022 most likely. By this point, I will have 12 years of service – unless I can get out with a temporary separation to pursue educational/professional opportunities.
Schools I’m looking into for midwifery:
Oregon Health Sciences University - Portland, OR SUNY Downstate Medical Center - Brooklyn, NY These are my top two choices. I’ll probably apply to both, but not sure which I prefer yet. It could depend on where my next duty station is.

Stay the course
These days it's tough to continue the work grind. It's such a toxic environment, yet I'm going to have to endure another five years of it to make my midwifery dreams come true. How the fuck am I going to do this.
Updates
We are officially expecting baby #2! I'm happy and terrified honestly. My toddler is already a handful and we have no idea what's in store for us. Work is terrible and getting worse. I have a year left here but I don't know how to hang in there when the people in charge have zero human awareness and lack basic comprehension. I start school again in August. Bleh.
Only a month
There is only about a month left before we start trying to conceive. I'm so excited. And so nervous about going from one child to two! Aaahhh!
Updates..finally
Home Things at home ebb and flow. It’s usually good, but toddlerhood and being the mother of a toddler are an ever-changing, ever-evolving event.
We’re in the midst of getting ready to put Joel in a regular twin bed and skipping the toddler bed. I think he’ll do best there. He quite enjoys our bed, so hopefully he’ll enjoy his too.
We will also be trying for baby #2 in April or May.. so that leaves me just about a month and a half to enjoy having my body to myself and drinking all the wine! My back problems are dwindling a little bit, but they are much less than they were before I lost a few lbs. I start physical therapy tomorrow so we’ll see how that helps!
Work Wear to even start.. Work is usually miserable for me. My command isn’t the best overall, but they usually support me and my endeavors. I’ve decided to put in for a job change. I’m attempting to make the switch from public affairs to health services. This is a huge change within my military career. I ultimately decided I’d rather gain some of the skills I will need in a nursing program NOW while it will be easier, than later when I’m in an accelerated program and hardly have time to blink.
College I’m a little burnt out and will be taking a break after my current course ends. Two more weeks! My break won’t be too long, though. Have to keep at it if I want to stay on course.
Hobbies I don’t have much time for hobbies right now, but I do enjoy my bullet journal and I still try to pick up the camera when I can. I would love to play more video games considering I’ve been all about 7 Days to Die recently and I still haven’t been able to play Horizon. I am going to attempt to start a garden this year, so that should be interesting.
Goals My goals remain the same.. pay off debt and get my bachelors degree! Just have to be diligent about not spending money and staying in school.
Upcoming Events Vernal equinox! I’m still not quite in a place to celebrate, but I do make mental notes. Easter - We may be going to Connecticut to spend time with my mother-in-law. We shall see!

Let downs and life
So the election happened. And it was pretty awful. I just can't even with the state of this country. Work sucks and my coworker might just be the laziest human I've ever met in my life. Makes things really difficult. I wanted to become a Scentsy consultant but can't really afford the kit cost at the moment. Not sure if I'd actually try to sell anything or not, but the kit comes with a ton of stuff for a great price. Plus the consultant I know seems really cult-y and that's when I get annoyed. I know how MLMs work and she kind of ignores my questions when I referred to it as an MLM company, lol. On the plus side, I did get a big Yankee Candle for $5 today.

We kicked off Extra Life 2016 last night. We intended in pushing through 24 hours of gaming but it turns out we're getting old.
Menses from hell
I’m got my first menses post-IUD removal. IT CAME WITH A VENGEANCE. I’m pretty well-educated about my body and about the reproductive cycle, so this may come as a surprise when I say it: I literally thought I was bleeding out or hemorrhaging when it started.
Blood was actually pouring out of me. This is the first time I’ve experienced it this way. I feel for the ladies who have heavy cycles. This is new to me. I hope this isn’t my new normal cycle, though. We shall see.
On being a woman in the military
It makes it *that* much more difficult and annoying being a woman in the military when a colleague's spouse jumps down your throat for no reason at all, assuming I'm going to steal her husband and saying that all I do is talk about how terrible my husband and marriage is? What in the actual fuck. Calm your tits. Jesus fucking Christ. For the record, I absolutely do not have a terrible marriage or husband and most definitely have not tried to confide in her husband about anything crazy like that. Ugh. I need wine. And lots of it.. But I'm on fucking duty. And dealing with a hormone crash after coming off my IUD. Fuck me, right?
IUD free!
Officially IUD free. I’m so excited. I can’t wait until the hormones leave my system. I’m officially going to start tracking my cycle tomorrow morning.
Can’t wait to start trying for a baby in February, but I’m mostly excited to be off hormonal birth control in general. Maybe this will help with my moods.
