So I'm trying to dip my toes into LaDS. As usual for me, this is a self-insert fic with a bit of a twist. Two self-inserts, one as mc, the other one as oc. Different methods of transmigration, different levels of knowledge. First chapter is a bit of an introduction to the setting while the second one starts following one of the girls.

Right off the bat I say, both characters are named and I will be sticking to 3rd person pov. So if you are looking for second person or reader-insert, this fic is not for you.

Additionally, somewhere down the line I will make some LIxLI ships happen since the mc-inserted girl will pick only one and I think the rest of the boys deserve a chance at happiness in some form. So, if you can't stand male ships in this fandom, kindly stay away.

What else... can't come up with anything urgent. Here are character maker versions of the two. I haven't had the energy to draw them myself yet.

Emmaline Cykes | Xia Baixue

- Name meaning: white snow in summer, yes she shares a family name with Caleb, I doubt there were any official files post-experimentation to list either of their original family names. - Age: 23, Scorpio - Awakens post-explosion/Chapter 4 of game - Likes attention from all LIs but is Xavier-girlie, very strictly divides the LIs to the 'good guys' and 'bad guys' - transmigrated before Valko was announced, otherwise extensive knowledge on everything happening in the game - prefers twin guns ("canonical") and wand (in practise) in fight - healing, buffing, support

Lunalia Greaves | Ao Yue

- Name meaning: wandering moon - Age: 28, Taurus - found unconscious a year before game story starts thus has time to meet and bond with LIs naturally - tries to balance natural relationships with all LIs she meets, focusing on her half of 'pool'. witnessing Myths makes her uncomfortable but she tries to go through them in manner more comfortable to her. - most of her information through assimilation while online, quite invested in following Valko drama and thus is aware of the different sides of fan culture surrounding the game - prefers sword in fight - dps, single target

Honorifics in LaDS

Uh... So I recently got into Love and Deepspace. I admit I got more aware of the game because of all the Valko drama going on... and thus got curious about the story and... pretty soon got an idea of write a self-insert story.

The thing is though. Due translation and hence cultural nuance having to be removed or at least obscured due lacking snappy equivalents... I've been having problems. No, I'm not talking about Caleb and whole meimei/gege issue. That is quite clear cut to me. The issue is more with the fact that only Chinese and Korean names have family names included in them. Thus I get really jarring moments (especially when reading fanfiction) when I see Doctor Zayne or Colonel Caleb or other high ranking personel who are addressed by first name.

I haven't yet gone to look for gameplay with videos with CN audio so I rather ask here for any LaDS sisters (yes, I have an account now too) who know... Would you like to give me examples of... any honorific use happening in LaDS? Towards any and all LIs and side characters as well.

I guess part of this is me previously mostly having interracted with MXTX related media when it comes to CN based media, thus knowing the honorifics being a big thing... but even if LaDS takes place in pseudo-future and thus the culture not necessarily comparable to fantasy-historical xianxia genre, honorifics are still a big thing in east-Asian cultures.

I drew this winged Harumasa for my friend Nozomi_Higurashi's fic When Icarus Doesn't Fall, which is a YYH crossover. I know nothing of YYH but I really liked the idea of Harumasa with wings so I got inspired.

He is supposed to have marks on his face too replacing the corruption marks spreading during his Story... but when I went to check how they'd sit... they were conveniently on the side of face that it turned away from us.

The bow was murder. Especially in that angle. Never drawing it again.

I was supposed to be writing the next chapter but instead I drew these two. Say hello to Arashi and Kaito, two OCs I've never bothered to draw before. Or well, I have a sketch of Arashi but I needed to make a proper picture of him, especially after I refined Reika's design some years ago.

So yeah, Arashi is Reika's father and part of Iwa's explosion corps- He is wearing the Shiroishi clan's variant of the uniform, like Reika.

Kaito is Kairi's father. As you can see, in Kairi's original fic, she very much dressed like Kaito, the only difference being lighter coloured shirt and different length pants. But then again, in that fic Kaito was dead so Kairi mimicked him a lot. While Kairi got her hair cut short in Konoha Crush, she is planning on growing it long again. In the Dandelion-verse, Kairi will keep her hair short.

Also took some pose inspiration from the drawings I already had of their daughters.

And in the case someone who has not read my fics stumbled upon here, Arashi and Kaito are Minato's older brothers but due 2nd Great Shinobi War shenanigans ended up in Iwa and Suna respectively when their family was evacuating from Ishi no Kuni. They later married into their wives' clans, becoming Shiroishi Arashi and Fuukatsu Kaito.

I've been turning an idea of my SI-OC Kairi ending up in Konoha while still having her origins in Suna... Yesterday I finally posted the first chapter of that story to lay background on how to make it possible.

Fox in the Dandelion Sea

(yes, I picked the title from a book found in Genshin Impact)

So here is some art of Kairi in different ages.

3yr old when she first arrived in Konoha. She really got a dandelion puff of hair and resembles Minato at that age.

12yr old when she graduates from Ninja Academy. She is very basic genin wear, with her sandals, heandband and shuriken holster being the base blue.

15-16yr old when manga canon starts. The fic will take place in Dreaming of Sunshine verse like Kairi's og fic did as well. Partially to leave the canon divergence heavy-lifting to Shikako (ha ha) and partially because the timeline Silver Queen crafted is very meticulous.

The second pic is a quick sketch I made during a break at work. (and yes, I know the ear is too high. couldn't be bothered to fix it though.)

Chasing Shadows, setting the stage, ch 19

Ah, it's been a bit of time since I posted a chapter announcement here... Anyhow, Chasing Shadows has reached its 19th chapter and closing the Nagano Arc. Next up, Shuugo is moving back to Osaka and meeting some new and old faces.

It's done.

In the beginning, we had a dream: to show Ekoda's prince of thieves, Gosho Aoyama's favorite son, all the love and talent that four-eyed little smartass in Beika can get without asking. Like so many dreams, its path was neither short nor easy; things waxed and waned and, at least once or twice, might've fizzled out altogether before that first interest check even went up.

But we believed, and you believed, and whatever pits and bumps came along the way, all of us worked it through. No phantom thief could ask for a better assemblage of artists, or a better community.

A rarity from me, posting canon characters instead of my ocs...

I call this work Balance. It was two-ish months ago when I was struck with the idea that Steven and Wallace alternating as the Champions of Hoenn was like how Groudon and Kyogre keep each other in check. Also, their elements match the Legendaries as well.

But it was only now that I decided to draw this. The composition had been in my head for a while already, just needed me to actually start working. Had some troubles on the way... Like, what does Wallace's oufit look like from the back? Or... why is Groudon so hard to draw compared to Kyogre?! Stupid overgrown heatmor! And last but not least... how do I draw the wave Kyogre is making (and it is going to the wrong direction), why is water so hard?

Overall I'm quite happy with this piece. I hope you like it too. :)

My SI-OC Yasmine with her siblings. She looks a bit out of place with her blond hair. Timothy and Lavender got their brown hair from their mother and blue eyes from their father Chardon. She then disappeared and the father married Faranak. Yes, Yasmine is Kaveh's half-sibling. So she got her red-ish eyes from Faranak and blond hair from Chardon. In my fic Faranak is brunette... Houx got similarly to T&L brown from mother, blue from father. And Pivonie is adopted... she is Molli from that one WQ that I really hate.

My fic timeline is still... when Houx and Pivonie are babies, while this pic is from when canon is about to start.

Waking up in the middle of nowhere is disorienting. Meeting your sister's OC for her favourite series even more so. Finding out you are now in the body of a 7-year-old, and apparently 10 years before the start of the canon, thus making you fit in the same age-group as the protagonists? Alarming.

Midorikawa Shuugo was very alarmed. But he pushed it all down. If he was this early, he needed to take advantage of it. Especially when it was very likely his sister had come to this world as well. And said sister definitely would not be able to resist the temptation to take a look at her favourite characters... Whenever her memories of the previous life awakened.

I was responsible of day 11 of our Genshin discord server's Advent Calendar. Chose Natlan characters because others were doing other nations a lot... I'm moderately happy with these preparations for very... Finnish Christmas.

The characters were done traditionally and colored with Promarkers and then the background was filled in at MSPaint.

I gotta fix Mualani's face at some point... I freehanded it with too thick pen... And yes, I forgot Ajaw even though I many times tried to remind myself to add him.

I just realized that I never uploaded the finished version of this drawing here. But here it is... almost half-a-year too late.

I managed to get Albedo's Japanese VA, Nojima Kenji's autograph at Desucon2024. Actually that autograph was the reason why I drew this in the first place.
