Uh... So I recently got into Love and Deepspace. I admit I got more aware of the game because of all the Valko drama going on... and thus got curious about the story and... pretty soon got an idea of write a self-insert story.
The thing is though. Due translation and hence cultural nuance having to be removed or at least obscured due lacking snappy equivalents... I've been having problems. No, I'm not talking about Caleb and whole meimei/gege issue. That is quite clear cut to me. The issue is more with the fact that only Chinese and Korean names have family names included in them. Thus I get really jarring moments (especially when reading fanfiction) when I see Doctor Zayne or Colonel Caleb or other high ranking personel who are addressed by first name.
I haven't yet gone to look for gameplay with videos with CN audio so I rather ask here for any LaDS sisters (yes, I have an account now too) who know... Would you like to give me examples of... any honorific use happening in LaDS? Towards any and all LIs and side characters as well.
I guess part of this is me previously mostly having interracted with MXTX related media when it comes to CN based media, thus knowing the honorifics being a big thing... but even if LaDS takes place in pseudo-future and thus the culture not necessarily comparable to fantasy-historical xianxia genre, honorifics are still a big thing in east-Asian cultures.
if you are on a mood, please toss in a reply. I try to give a glance at them amidst all other information gathering.
“The internet isn’t the best place to search for answers. I recognize that now. Neither is the library, actually. Not when a big portion of the non-fiction books are outdated.”
“While I still love to problem solve by gathering a ton of data and then discussing the possibilities. I should probably be more mindful of where my data comes from.”
“I’m going to kick this addiction. Because I have a strong support system and I can do anything. Watch out, world! I’m taking you on! Jeanette Miller is ready!”
“My new year’s resolution is to work on relieving my anxiety. It’ll be an uphill battle, because a lot of my anxiety comes from my environment, but I’m going to teach myself to feel safer.”
I hate that I feel compelled to censor tf out of this, but I want to show you all more of this project without hundreds of strangers knowing approximately where I live.
A bunch of you might already know this, but I've been working on resources lists hosted through Linktree for different cities in the U.S. My hope is to expand the project to a bunch of different cities, but you can only have one Linktree account per email, so I'd need other people to sign up and make resource lists for their cities then send me the links to be added to the master list in order to make this big. If you'd be interested in creating a resource list for the main list, you can use the instructions at the end of the post.
While this started off as me just wanting to create a portable index of local resources that people can easily access on desktop or mobile anywhere they can get a data or internet connection, it's also had the interesting side effect of showing me where the gaps in resources are for different nearby cities.
Like the first one I did was for the city I currently live in, which is mid-sized and has moderate issues with crime and poverty. Pretty much every section of the list I could think of was filled out except "gang violence prevention" because it's a relatively new issue in the region. There are double digits of shelters and food pantries, sliding-scale mental health resources, ADA compliant transportation options, substance abuse programs, etc. So even though the city is of decent size and has its issues, it's pretty well-served by the different organizations in the region.
Then I went to do the city where I'm currently helping out on housing rights action, which is slightly smaller but still has moderate issues with crime and poverty. There is only one shelter in the entire city, and it's only a cold-weather shelter, so it doesn't have the capacity to keep people past 7AM. The next nearest ones are 11 miles away in a neighboring city. There are no non-denominational shelters or food banks - everything is church-run, and most food banks are usually open once every two weeks, sometimes only during the hours that a normal person would be working a 9-5.
It may not currently be within my power to create shelters, food banks, assistance programs, etc. but these lists are shaping up to be a pretty neat way to point out to local people, particularly local politicians, in which ways the local community is underserved.
Just want to keep propping the project as it progresses since it's A) low commitment, and B) something pretty much anyone can get involved in. If you have questions about it, feel free to message me!
[Instruction text:
Interested in adding a city to the list? See the steps below!
Create a Linktr.ee account. You will need an email that is not already associated with Linktr.ee.
Name your Linktr.ee as “[city name]resources.” If that name is already taken, add numbers to the end (1,2,3, etc.). Do whatever you like with the style of your Linktr.ee (background, button style, etc.). If you choose a profile picture for your Linktr.ee, it must be SFW.
Add resources for your city as individual links.
Do not add links to NSFW or any other inappropriate content. Your links will all be checked before your list is added to the master list, and inappropriate content may delay or prevent addition of your list.
It is also recommended that you add a link that gives contact information for your list in case someone wants to contact you to add a resource. This could be in the form of a Google Doc like this, a link to an email, a Google Form, or something else.
Copy the link to your Linktr.ee and send it to [email protected] with the city and state in the email title to have your resource list added to the main list.]
Do you think Myranda's questioning of Alayne about Baelish's penis is more to do with her trying to suss out that the relationship between Petyr Baelish and whoever this girl calls herself Alayne isn't that of a father daughter but has sexual connotations to it. I have seen people interpreting it as her having the hots for Baelish but I think it's more to do with her trying to gather more information about the type of relationship between Baelish and this strange girl he calls his daughter. Following this, she tries to talk about the North and Castle Black having a boy commander maybe in order to narrow down where this girl Alayne comes from?
I would agree. These questions are entirely inappropriate to ask a daughter about her father, but we were explicitly told that Myranda is shrewd and "plays the merry fool", so this kind of absurdly rude question is a great way to throw someone off balance.
Myranda spends the entire trip playing up the outrageous overfriendly gossip persona, always right before or right after dry remarks that hint at her actual astute political inclinations.
I would venture to guess that Myranda already knows that Alayne is Sansa, or the remark on Jon Snow would not have played out the way it did. What news does she feed her?
Political news about Littlefinger's matchmaking and alliance-building - Alayne is informed and in LF's confidence.
Riverrun and the wars. - Carefully neutral reply.
New High Septon. - No reaction at all from the "religiously raised" girl.
Ned Stark's bastard - DING DING DING DING
Harry the Heir - someone a Gulltown girl has never heard of...??
Myranda's own marriage and its scandalous end - something a Gulltown girl has never heard of??
Marillion the murderous monster - no reaction at all
LF's marital future - surprise, so no plans
LF's physical attributes - awkward discomfort
Amid all of that constant little proddings about Sansa's maidenly virtue - absolutely checking if she is Littlefinger's mistress, as well as his ward. Whether or not he controls the heir to Winterfell the same way he controlled Lysa is extremely relevant. Her impression on that front is likely satisfactory: Sansa is innocently blushing up a storm every second sentence when she's not building romantic scenarios for Mya and Lothor.
The interrogation is ended when Sansa and Myranda collaborate to get Sweetrobin safely over the stone saddle bridge. It seals Myranda's impression of Alayne: Brave, beautiful, innocent Sansa Stark.
Sansa reveals so incredibly much to Myranda. She can puzzle out that Sansa is obviously not a Vale native but the heiress to the North, that she is posing as LF’s bastard daughter - implying familiarity and dependence - but is not his mistress, making her emotionally independent. She doesn’t even consider the option that Littlefinger might want to marry her himself or to the heir to the Vale she never knew existed (meaning he is keeping her in the dark about some plans), but Sansa is privy to certain of his political schemes to do with the Lords Declarant, meaning she is bright enough to follow politics in general and holds some of his trust. Sansa Stark personally cares about her real father’s bastard, as well as Mya Stone, and is clearly invested in the health and safety of her cousin the Lord Robert, she has a gentle nature and can rise to the occasion in a frightening moment. She’s innocent enough to blush frequently, to be scandalized by sexual innuendo, unlike someone like Margaery who exchanges bawdy jests with a Kettleblack boy, meaning that Sansa is both “unblemished” as a marital prospect AND not a practiced and self-satisfied liar or manipulator.
Myranda is looking at a picture-perfect exile princess and she’ll find the best way to make use of her.
Beyond the midway point, basically the point where the timelines diverged and Garou got punched by future Saitama.
But what is interesting is what Sekingar says next. What the police apparently learned from Garou's interrogation.
Lose his memory? No no no, this is incorrect.
Garou actually remembers pretty damn well who he fought after he monsterized.
He even remembers who he actually fought and remembers things past Garou should not remember. The shock of the punch did not make him lose memory of the future fight or what happened in these fights before Zero punch.
So, Sekingar-
How exactly could the police confirm that some future event took place? When Garou has no memory of it happening in the first place, like Saitama? But you claim that was what they interrogated him about? That Garou forgot he was defeated by Saitama?
If you were to ask Garou, he would've said that he blasted away Caped Baldy with Gamma ray burst and "beat him." If anything.
Not "I forgot if I kicked Bald guy's ass cuz some random person punched me too hard."
Can he forget something he has no memory of? The loss of future event memories which did not happen for Garou, would be impossible to ascertain during interrogation process WHICH HAD ALREADY HAPPENED the week before, unless someone from this meeting chose to basically go and confront him about the information in this SPECIFIC meeting and ask him about it directly.
Are you trying to lead the questioning with the answer, Sekingar?
And make it appear like Garou losing memory is about Garou losing memory of the fight conclusion and the future fight that did not happen to him, after hearing Genos' tale?
So nobody would figure out and ASK what Garou had ACTUALLY forgotten?
The secrets of monsterization.
Which is being kept hidden at all costs. That denouncing your humanity by feeling subhuman is what causes the monsterization process and emotions and being driven to a corner like an animal fuel the mutation process and give it power.
This is what Garou learned on his monsterization journey, forgot from Saitama punching the monsterization out of him and what is being kept hidden.
This would be the most important intel of the century.
Please come up with a more believable lie next time Sekingar.
(I wish Flash would say this but alas...)
Nope, you don't have any definitive information at all, Flash.
Because you suck at gathering true intel, you believe anything HA is saying and disregard the only one telling an authentic story.
Kakashi-sensei would be disappointed in you. What a ninja you are. Look underneath the underneath and go watch more Naruto or something.
If you get fed false intel, you're basically dead if you attempt to do subterfuge.
Meanwhile, HA is still trying to lead the conversation.
Where the hell would Blast pull this kind of information anyway? Out of his ass that has a pocket dimension?
This is such a wild assumption to make holy moly.
And if you knew someone was basically summoning God in, A SPIRITUAL GODDAMN BEING, you'd fucking know the source. 100%. And not throw a random guesswork that would implicate someone else.
If Blast knows there is a connection between Saitama and OPM God, he damn right would've already done something about it. Otherwise he has zero ways to actually infer God's motives. Zero ways. Interaction with God's dimension could literally be anything.
Basically, we're fed False Intel. Saitama does not summon God to their dimension.
Flash continues to not impress by having zero intel gathering skillsets whatsoever. Sitch just changes the subject under his nose and stops him from questioning about the actual investigation taking place and how they would supposedly investigate an incorporeal being.
I'm glad Genos called Flash out on not being sensitive to information gathering. Top tier burn.
If Flashy knew he was being hoodwinked so hard and how much he disregarded true intel based on gay subtext, this burn would sting his pride something awful.
Ah I love Genos and him being the objective truth narrator.
Always, always listen to what Genos is saying. Be sensitive to gathering intel yup yup.
Honestly, at this point, you just have to wonder about the HA's agenda here.
If we're even talking to the real HA. Doubtful. Something more is at play.
The only one who'd really want to keep secrets of monsterization hidden would be OPM God, so nobody would be able to make countermeasures against that.
So I wager that OPM God has a hand in this too.
Possibly to implicate Saitama and make him public enemy number 1# and other things to break his spirit, so he would get all sorts of desperate, cornered, feel like the worst possible human being and emotional and come to him on his own volition and beg to become his slave, so he would forget himself.
Cruel and sociopathic self-amusement might be just the agenda.
Maybe OPM God is honestly just fucking bored.
I mean, if the protagonist suffers from excessive boredom because they became too strong, why not the antagonist too?
It's still an intellectual being, but very much alone and stuck in alternate dimension. It would even make sense in a twisted way.
The metaphor of frying ants with a magnifying glass comes to mind. It would be like toying with or swatting bugs to him.
Lot's of hidden agendas being at play, let's see how this plays out.
