i was tagged by @gallifaerie to do the selfies of 2016 thing. so here are 7 :) i’m also gonna use this as kind of a 2016 review of sorts.
but generally i feel like these pictures sum up my year pretty well?
as a whole i can definitely agree that 2016 was pretty much the worst( and g-d knows it really really was) but looking back i’ve realized that it was quite an important one for me. i learned a lot about myself. i also learned who my true friends were, the ones who care about me and make sure i know it.
in the first half of the year i made a big change and chopped off a ton of hair, a fresh start or something of the sorts. And honestly the beginning of the year was quite productive,started working for the family business with more regularity, toured some colleges and visited portland for the first time! then, later in the year, things got a little shittier. i ended not being able to walk for more than 2 months, spent almost 3 weeks in the hospital, and had multiple major spinal surgeries. this also led to the discovery that this will be an on going problem and i’ll need more, and probably bigger surgeries, in the future.
despite the shitty end (though with everything else going on in 2016 idk what i could have expected) this year was really significant in a lot of ways. i started talking to @moonlesbianlouie @thylas and @sunraylouis and i can honestly say they are some of the best friends i could ever hope to have and i know we’ll be friends for the rest of our lives. (why do we have to live so far apart though!!!???).
2016 was also the year i fell in love. which has definitely changed me. my girlfriend is literally incredible (not to put her on a pedestal, we all have our faults of course). she’s just such a beautiful, kind, wonderful, loving human being and i ask myself pretty much daily how i was so lucky to end up with someone like her.
so basically the moral is fuck you 2016, you genuinely were the worst, but also thank you, and if i were more poetic i would say something about good things rising from the ashes or some shit like that.
i hope everyone has a happy new year’s spent with people you love, (or in my case spent with cats i love) and your 2017 gives you everything 2016 didnt.
