What I love so much about sotr is that it does basically rewrite everything we do know about Victors we see in Catching Fire.

Cause for years I assumed Wiress did go insane because of her games. I just assumed it was years of trauma piling onto her. But, of course, sotr emphasises that Wiress was sane after her games. She outsmarted her own arena, everyone else went crazy. And then of course there's the clear implication she was tortured by the Capitol for her part of the Rebel plan.

So like, just how much of Katniss' perspective is genuinely just years of Capitol propaganda thrown at her? Because she does fall for it. She genuinely thinks Finnick has affairs with Capitol citizens for fun, had zero clue what Haymitch's games were really like. Once again, very realistic for a teenage girl under a Totalitarian regime. Unfortunately, propaganda does work, even when you do feel disillusioned.

It's just wild thinking about how I read this when I was ten years old and never realised how deep it actually goes. I envy every child who gets to grow up with sotr and tbosas.

i think people need to realise that a good girl's guide to murder is going to be different bc it would be boring for us to just see pip typing her epq. as someone who legit wrote an epq, the process isnt fun. the changes made suited the adaption onto screen. yes i know the edits arent consistent with the book, but they add so much more.

for example, isla jordan not being mentally disabled and just finding out what elliot did to sal and him hiding her away adds an emphasis that elliot knew what he did was wrong and adds to how fucked up it is.

my point is, a book adaptation isnt a copy of the entire book, it takes elements and reiterates them. holly has been so heavily involved, she gave us what we deserved in a show that received budget for 6 40 minute episodes.

my main complaint is how underused nat was in the show. she shouldve had a more prominent role in my opinion. however we all know if we get season 2, she'll defo be in it

but the show gave us so much more. pip still had her charming awkwardness, ravi was fleshed out so well in terms to his love for his brother, sal and andie's relationship was so visible to us. not to mention they've foreshadowed the next two books. if we get an entire three seasons, watching people connect each season is going to be so satisfying.
