The Fifth House - The House of Pleasure
This is the fifth part of a twelve part series briefly explaining how the signs work in each house. Enjoy!
To start off, the Fifth House is ruled by Leo and the Sun. So when we think of pleasure itâs definitely a bit selfish. We are searching for what makes us feel good in all aspects of life. It is in this house where we find out that what makes us feel pleasure is usually through our creative self. This is when we showcase our talents whether it be in the arts, music, writing, or any field in which our pleasures are demonstrated. There is also a sense of innocence in this house because what makes us feel good comes naturally; we donât have to force it, itâs a talent or desire we were essentially born with. The innocence is shown because as children we are genuine in expressing what makes us happy, and as we become older we tend to suppress those feelings in order to enter adulthood and make a living. If we are lucky, we are able to make a living out of our talents. Furthermore, since we are discussing pleasure, this house also represents why we have children and procreate. As humans we want to keep creating different versions of ourselves, and having children is another form of that. Where sex is pleasure, having a child is the result. And from this we can learn about our romantic affairs, hobbies, creative pursuits, and children. In life we ultimately just want to do what makes us happy and how we go about searching for that happiness and awaiting the pleasurable result is represented in the Fifth House.Â
Aries in the Fifth House: Always a natural born leader, this Aries is no different than the rest. In your pursuit of pleasures you are a go-getter. You want to be the first one to make a move and if anyone beats you to it, you get a bit turned off. This placement can be too firey for more sensitive types so if you scare people away this may be why. You will come to learn, however, that happiness comes within so you donât need peopleâs approval anyway. But it is important to try and see other peopleâs perspectives and not act so impulsively. Your hobbies, talents, and indulgences are the type to keep you physically active and you usually like to ride solo. Your children may acquire these traits as well. Since Leo rules, this double Fire sign of Aries and Leo call for a courageous person who can use their leadership qualities for good or bad.Â
Taurus in the Fifth House: A cautious bull, you are only willing to make investments if they are worth it. Once you figure out if they are worth it or not you are in it for the long haul and donât half ass things. But you tend to treat your investments, both business and romantic, as possessions. In this placement, however, that can mean that you are giving too much. Your hobbies may become addictive whether it be gambling or over eating to feel a sense of gratification. Positive qualities are that you are loyal and stable in matters of love and you expect the same in return. You hate being rushed and want to be able to take your time when it comes to being creative. Your children may think you are too harsh on them or overbearing because you may be disappointed that they are not the same as you. The material world is usually what peaks your interest and this is where you seek pleasure.Â
Gemini in the Fifth House: Pleasures come to you in more ways than one. Being monogamous and sticking to one routine is not your cup of tea. Your mind needs stimulation in the form knowledge in order to keep you around. What you do with this knowledge, however, is how you showcase your creativity. Activities like word games, puzzles, or trivia are your version of fun since you get to show off how much you know. In matters of love, you need someone who is entertaining and can keep you on your toes, otherwise you will get bored. This placement can be tied to the inventors of the world since Gemini is all about the mind and with it comes to creativity that can cause mental progress, like being the one who comes up with a good idea first. The dual personality of course can become a problem here and you must find a way to find a middle ground with your interests, where you satisfy both light and dark pleasures. Lastly, relating to children is easy for you since you have a child like spirit.
Cancer in the Fifth House: In order for you to enjoy the pleasures of the world, you will do so in a familiar way. Sticking to what makes you feel comfortable, like holding traditional values, is what is important for you. Your hobbies will be no different, you may enjoy things like knitting or cooking. As a parent and in relationships you want to provide and nurture. Towards your children you may find it hard to cut them loose and will hold on to them for as long as possible. Your maternal instinct will go insofar as trying to mother your significant others, which can be too demanding and might cause you to smother your partner emotionally. Very compassionate, your creativity will demonstrate how you feel, and you use your intuition to better paint a picture. In life you are not a risk taker, and you definitely shouldnât start now, since youâre all about caution. You prefer to take your time and enjoy the good things in life with the right people otherwise why bother. This placement holds many feelings of nostalgia and although reminiscing is a beautiful thing, try and not get stuck in the past.Â
Leo in the Fifth House: Finally weâve reached the natural placement of Leo in the fifth house. Leo also rules the heart so you will have a larger than life type of heart and that is what is most admirable about you. When you are being creative and being given all the praise for it, that is your best shining moment. You are what they call âthe life of the partyâ without even trying, so trust, you donât have to do the most. Children inspire you because being around adults can shine you away from your light, whereas children bring out the life in you. However, you are good at discipling your children so you will make a great parent. When it comes to chasing pleasures you will do so in a flamboyant manner and will make love your greatest investment of them all. You want your partner to understand how in love you are with love since you expect a romance just like in the movies. Because of this you may be too dramatic and high demanding so in order for you to be happy you have to find someone who is willing to put up with that. This placement teaches us to never settle for anything less and to aim for the happiness we truly deserve.Â
Virgo in the Fifth House: You find the most pleasure when things are done right. Satisfying your pleasures, however, will not come easy since you are so keen on having things perfect. But rememberâŠperfection rarely exists so stop getting caught up in your impossible standards otherwise you will never be happy. This type of mindset also applies to the people you choose to date and have sex with. If the person isnât worth it you wonât even waste your time. Once you do find this person, however, they must still earn your love. Mental stimulation is important for you and youâd rather spend time on something that reaps higher rewards in the long run than something that is quick and easy. As for your children you will probably be the most strict parent of all since you are very critical of them too. You demonstrate your talents through your ability to plan accordingly and get shit done, but creativity does not always come as planned so allow yourself to be spontaneous.Â
Libra in the Fifth House: As any Libra, youâre all about balance especially with work and play. You are a fair person and show this in relationships and your parenting skills. As for pleasures, you need the company of others in order to enjoy anything. If you find yourself lacking independence this placement can be why, but now that you know, you should try and work on being happy all on your own to help develop your personality. Basically you need the help of others to fulfill your pleasures but the problem is that in life we canât always rely on others, this is one source of disappointment. Once you find true happiness within yourself, when you manifest this it into your relationships, this will call for beautiful marriages and long term romances. Without even knowing, however, you are always searching for a new crush and someone is always catching your interest. Very flirty your children will also share these charming qualities.Â
Scorpio in the Fifth House: The way you approach your desires, romantic interests, and pleasures are very intimate and with high emotions. You feel things very strongly and seek pleasures with all the intensity you have. This makes you very loyal in relationships and are willing to do just about anything for your partner. Because of this you are possessive towards them and quickly get jealous if your standards of loyalty are not being met. You definitely come off too strongly but the right person will find this flattering. As a parent you will be overprotective because your children mean everything to you. There is a strong aura about you that has qualities of life and death, as if youâve suffered everything there is to suffer. Thus, you can be bitter and cynical because you are very observant and see life realistically. You are a very deep person and want to get to know peopleâs psyches not just whatâs on the surface level. When it comes to your hobbies you are quite obsessive, but one has any idea what these talents are because you keep everything a secret.Â
Sagittarius in the Fifth House: The wandering spirit is willing to take any chance when it comes to chasing their indulgences. Once you know what keens your interest, or what you are talented at, nothing stops you form achieving and showing it off. You usually get what you want because of your fortune and luck. Any form of love affair with you will be a fiery, exciting adventure. With the amount of energy that you have, you carry a childlike behavior even in the bedroom, where you like to play games and see sex as a sport like an Aries. In the end you always want your freedom so your partners should understand that you need your space. Your relationships usually wonât last because youâre meant to date many people and learn from all walks of life. You understand the younger crowd so you donât have trouble raising children. Very easy going you handle life with a carefree attitude, which leads you to emit happiness and positive energy. Life will throw its obstacles at you and because of how uplifting you can be, there is nothing you cannot endure.
Capricorn in the Fifth House: In life you will pursue your hobbies and interests in a hardworking manner. You like to work for what you deserve and this may be why you make money out of something you enjoy. Being spontaneous does not come naturally to you so you rarely act on an impulse. You tend to limit yourself from any actual real fun because you isolate yourself and prefer to be alone. In love you come off quite cold and reserved, but inside you are very emotional and sentimental. This placement is not the happiest because of how draining it may feel to never feel rest and be in a constant panic. Unfortunately you are not able to enjoy any quick fun because of all the restrictions you may apply. Falling in love will not come easy but when it happens you will do whatever it takes to keep the relationship alive, but, only work tirelessly if it brings you happiness. Otherwise you will find yourself more fond to the dependency of the relationship rather than the person. Capricorns are the father of the zodiac so you may raise your children very disciplined and be a bit of a hard ass so learn when to tone it down.Â
Aquarius in the Fifth House:Â From the start, you are one that pursues pleasures that are out of the conventional norm. The people you have fun with are usually the odd and eccentric ones. The weirder your friend group is, the better. You are a very likable person and are up to date on the newest trends and coolest technologies. Very progressive, your romantic desires are fun loving and you aim to have no limits in your love affairs. The rebellious streak in you goes insofar to reach your children that you will have to discipline them at an early age and not give them too much freedom. You are never satisfied with the status quo so your creativity comes from constantly trying to break molds and seek change with your advanced thinking. Whatever catches your interests needs to be long lasting so that you can commit to it, otherwise, you will continue roaming free with no true incentive in mind. Overall, your pleasures are out of this world and it only takes the few rebel types to understand.
Pisces in the Fifth House: The empathetic nature of the Pisces is seen through the lens of pleasure in an enchanting way. Your love affairs are usually deep rooted and you seek a soul mate in every person that you date. However, you may slip and have a bad tendency to see God in your significant others. In return, you sacrifice so much of yourself to make them happy, but this only leaves you empty. Unfortunately with this placement, you are constantly dealing with some form of dissatisfaction and disappointment. This affects your romances, creative pursuits, and the way you raise your children because you may find it difficult to bring life into a world where you feel there is no silver lining. In order to survive you need to learn to love yourself, have confidence, and keep a strong aura. Pisces are always in search of an escape because the realities of the world are too harsh, but do not get caught up in abusing substances in order to achieve a temporary happiness. True happiness can only be found when we keep our faith in love, beauty, and the goodness of mankind.Â
This website is like a suicide hotline but with text chat instead.  I would appreciate it if you guys helped spread the word.
This is my philosophy on synastry. Â Take it or leave it what you may. Â Moon to moon is the most important aspect end of story. Â It how we feel secure and what we look for to feel comfortable which helps us feel supported in our efforts.
You can use derivative signs to see how the moonâs really get along together and if they make sense of your own needs.
Other Personâs Moon is 1st to your Moon (Moon conjunct Moon)
They are on the same wavelength, feel comfortable in the same way, react the same way and want the same things for emotional security. Good match. Maybe doesnât leave enough room for improvement or seeing the world in new a scope which could be limiting at a future point.
Your moon being 1st from their moon of course makes your moon 1st from their. The feelings they have towards you are mutually received. Â You are always someone they can go too for emotional support.
Other Personâs Moon is 2nd to your Moon (Moon inconjunct Moon)
Any place 2nd from itself is what is valued. Â You can certainly value the other personâs needs and how they think. Â The issue is your moon is 12th from their moon; they are simply at a loss and donât feel the same connection to their own needs for security.
Their moon being 2nd from your moon makes your moon 12 placements from theirs. Â 12 placements in astrology represents a feeling of loss, confusions, restraint, sorrow, isolation and entrapment. Â The other person may find you an enigma emotionally and feel at a loss of understand how you think. Â They can be quite confused by you and feel restrained from being vulnerable and open to you. Â The other moon person can feel isolated in your presence and even lonely which hurts the hope of intimacy. Â Just not a good pair.
Other Personâs Moon is 3rd to your Moon (Moon sextile Moon)
A placement 3rd from itself is about Communication and Intellect. Â Your Moonâs both share the same response factor to the world. Â Whether introverted or extroverted you both feel comfortable in that respect. Â The foundation can be one based heavily on communication and relating of the mind. Â With it emotional bonding and a feeling of safety can exist through verbal or written communication. Â
Their moon being 3rd from your moon makes your moon 11th from theirs. Â The 11th placement is about friends, like minded thinking, innovations and aspirations. Â They can view you as a good friend which is a foundation for a healthy relationship. Â They feel inspired intellectually towards sharing their aspirations with you and even wanting to work together towards them. Â They may feel more creative or innovative overall because you inspire their mind. Great pairing towards the future.
Other Personâs Moon is 4th to your Moon (Moon square Moon)
A placement 4th from itself is all about the Moonâs natural basis of security, home, comfort as well as being vulnerable. Â Your moon fails to connect with the other personâs moon in all shapes and form. Â Their moon is of another gender, mode and element. Â You both experienced different upbringings and finding security in different things. Â When you communicate how you both think itâs hard to see eye to eye. Â Itâs really hard to feel home with each other like the moon wants. Â You just simply may not feel comfortable being vulnerable at all
Their moon being 4th to your moon makes your moon 10th placements to theirs. 10 placements from anything in astrology can represent ambitions, heaviness, responsibility, structure and authority. Â They can view your emotional needs as a heavy burden upon them. Â The fact you donât similar thinking patterns can mean they donât feel you support their ambitions in life. Â Quite frankly they may even threatened you break the structure their looking to build and hurt their foundation for success in the world.

COMBUSTION IN ASTROLOGY
What is a combustion?
Combustion is when any planet is closely conjunct to the Sun. To be more specific, conjunct from 0°18âČ to 8°. If you have planets conjunct to the Sun from 9° to 15°, you would have your planets âunder the beams.â It is possible to look at loose aspects made to the Sun since itâs arguably the strongest planet in your natal chart and itâs a strong luminary. If you have a planet conjunct to your Sun that is less than 0°18âČ, then you have what is called cazimi.
Whatâs the difference between combustion, âunder the beams,â and cazimi in terms of effects?
As illustrated, the main thing the three conditions have in common is that theyâre conjunctions made to the Sun. However, due to the varying degrees, the effects are different for each condition.
Combustion and âunder the beamsâ are accidental debilities* while cazimi is an accidental dignity*.
What are the effects of having a combustion in the natal chart?
In order to understand why and how a combustion can be seen as an debility (accidental, to be exact,) you have to see the symbolic and literal imagery that is shown when a combustion is present in the natal chart.
The Sun is quite hot and bright. In western astrology, it is often generally seen to be a benefic planet while in Vedic astrology, it is seen to be a malefic planet. Western astrology tends to view the rays of the Sun to be positive, warm, and inspiring while Vedic astrology can often view the rays of the Sun to be destructive and hot, for these same rays can also burn up whatever is in its way.
When your planet is combust, imagine that planet engulfed and burned up in the Sunâs rays, specifically from the corona. The planet from there wouldnât be seen due to the light of Sun covering it up. The planetâs effects in other words would be weakened because the Sun would be overpowering it. The planet would not be able to have its own individual shine, and can easily lose its separate identity from the Sun in the process. This can result in the native having the planet not easily seen, for there is a strong fusion between the planet and the Sun. All conjunctions in nature illustrate two planets working as a single unit. With a combustion, however, there can often be a âfusingâ effect. The Sun and planet have essentially become âone,â with the Sun being strongly dominant.
With that in mind, the combust planet can often feel neglected for the native mainly because the functions of the planet will mostly manifest starting inside rather than outside the native. People with combust planets can often struggle to separate parts of themselves from the ego (Sun) and as a result, these planets can often be more sensitive. What natives have to ultimately learn is separate the combust planet from the Sun by placing unique emphasis to the combust planet so that it can maintain its own identity so that it can work with, rather than under the Sunâs influence.
What are the effects of having a planet âunder the beamsâ with the Sun?
Having a planet âunder the beamsâ is similar to a combustion, but to a lesser degree. While the combust planet is completely covered up by the Sun, having your planet âunder the beamsâ can show a planet that can still be partially seen against the Sunâs powerful rays. That means that the planet will still have its own sphere of influence separate from the Sun, but this influence can be highly affected by the Sun.
What are the effects of having a planet in cazimi?
Having a planet in cazimi can show a planet that is in the center, or in the âheartâ of the Sun. With cazimi, the planet is stronger, and the spotlight is placed onto the planet, since it is free from being burned away by the Sunâs rays. People with a planet in cazimi can often have a talent associated with the planet since the manifestation of planets in cazimi are very strong and can be applied externally in a positive manner. The planet in cazimi in this case functions has a complete, strong, separate entity from the Sun and can be seen as a planet that goes beyond the identity and ego.
What are the implications of combustion in astrology?
The two planets that are most likely to be combust are Venus and Mercury. Mercury can only be one sign away from your Sun while Venus can only be two signs away from the Sun. Having a combustion in these two planets can quite common, and it often implies the internal nature of our thoughts (Mercury) and our internal drive to meet our ideals (Venus.) It can often show the strong tie our mind and ideals can have to how we see ourselves.
okay so this makes so much sense. i have the sun and venus cazimi in the 12th house scorpio and I have been asking around as to the significance of same degree/same sign planets and most everyone says its either no different from a conjuction - being a positive thing or it is combust - super negative thing. and im just like okay so??? which is it???
Advice from an hereditary witchâs grandmother: things a crone has to say
My witch of a grandmother gave me her beautiful encyclopedia on healing plants to celebrate Ostara! I told her about my blog and she asked me to share some of her advice âfor those lovely internet disciples of yoursâ. No, YeyĂ©, thatâs not how this worksâŠ
But hey! When the crone talks, you listen!
âA jar of glass keeps away envious spirits and people who want to hurt you.â
âEverything dead deserves to be honored.â
âStrings of seeds bring prosperity.â
âA stone in the windowsill is a soldier that keeps away thieves, but make sure itâs not a pretty rock cause they might steal it!â
âWhen you trim a vine, keep some branches by the door so all the hard work youâve done doesnât disappear in a single day!â
âWhen youâre old and canât move so much anymore, keep a jar of seeds by the Gods so they can pick their offerings as they please.â
âI keep lavender by the computer because it helps me remember how to open Facebook. Lavender is good for memory. Tell your friends of the internet.â
âI keep the obsidian and the agathe geodes in front of the TV so there will be no bad news.â
So there you have it.

My aunt asked me to ask you for some insight on the influence of Aries on a Pisces-Aries cusp. What are your thoughts?
Well cusp sun signs arenât real but for the sake of the question the youthful energies of Aries would be more pronounced than the more aggressive side
What do you mean by cusp signs arenât real?
While the actual division between two signs or two houses is real and called the cusp, the sun is physically only in one sign and that is the personâs sun sign alone.
That being said, when a planet is at either 29 or 0 degrees of a sign, energies of both signs can be considered but there is still only one sun sign.
The best way to gain more insight into the intricacies of a planets sign is by looking at the degree itâs in and the Decan
For anyone curious as to why most astrologers say that cusps do not exist ^^

Moon in Aquarius: Lightning in a Bottle
Aquarius, to me, has the slowest emotional process, due to the fact that itâs ruled by Uranus and co-ruled by Saturn. Aquarius has lightning fast realizations, but when the Moon is placed here, the electric emotion is empowered by the changeability of lunar waters. The Moon represents change, and tidal emotions, so here we have electricity meeting water - a volatile combination. Aquarius Moon have emotions just like everyone else. But they detach these emotions from their core. Aquarius Moon compartmentalize these emotions to later contemplate and experiment with (Aquarius is the archetype of the scientist). But Uranus is lighting; itâs the flash of the emotion. So how does the Saturn apply? Shouldnât these galvanic feelings be crackling everywhere around the placeholder? This is where Saturn comes in. Saturn applies control to these emotions. Saturn, the planet of restriction, confines these emotions. He is the Compartmentalist; the reason the placeholder later comes back to reap what these emotions have to offer and teach (Saturn is the planet of harsh lessons). But this Saturnian influence is the reason behind the so-called âemotionlessnessâ of Aquarians. People are so quick to call Aquarius Moons cold and unfeeling (I am guilty), but I have recently gained insight into how they work. As a Leo Moon, understanding the Aquarius archetype is easier because Aquarius is my opposing sign. And the truth is, Aquarius Moons are very similar to Leo Moons. They crave to be recognized and adored, but they want to be admired for their originality and revolutionary accomplishments rather than the mere âwowâ factor. Leo wants to shine (heâs ruled by the Sun), but Aquarius wants to shock (Uranus). Aquarius Moons have just as much dramatic emotions as his Leo Moon brethren. But Aquarius uses his emotions to shock. An Aquarius Moon will have displays of emotion that are unique and donât make sense. The placeholder may not even react the same way to the same emotion stimulant. Itâs all in effort to fill that desire to be original. Aquarius Moons are also very compassionate and egalitarian, so they have a tendency to put others needs before their own. Although this sign can have an egotistic nature (what sign canât really??), it is the sign of community. So Aquarius Moons understand what others are feeling, but compassion is different from empathy. Aquarius Moons can be empathetic, but typically, due to their air influence, they will intellectualize emotions. So they donât FEEL sympathy, (or their own emotions, God these guys can have trouble being emotionally vulnerable), but they UNDERSTAND your emotions and their own. All-in-all, these placeholders are incredibly emotional. The difference is how they show it. Aquarius Moons Emotional Pointers: Disclaimer: This does not apply to every placeholder due to the difference of aspects, house placements, persona charts, and persona experiences, but this is what I have found to be connections to their emotional nature.
Mad: Cold, harsh, typically very intellectual. Tendency to belittle, but very manipulative. Air influence makes arguing their strong suit. Fixed nature makes them extremely strong in their points-of-view when countered. How to comfort: Support them. Spoon-feed them compliments about what they have accomplished. Help them see that not everything will go their way. Because of their intellectual nature, a logical approach will probably be most efficient. LET THEM BE!!! *Distance can be very helpful for them. Sad: Distant, quiet, contemplative. Tendency to sulk, avoid certain conversations, people or things. Hard to change their negative thought processes due to fixed nature. How to comfort: Same as Sad. Sometimes, let them self-comfort. But be there when they come back to you (they usually will). Happy: Talkative, intellectual, analytical, devilâs advocate (they love to debate). Anxious: Similar to sad, although sometimes they can be extremely fixed on the idea of something being wrong. Hard to comfort when theyâre anxious.
