“Ooh, totally. I love Bill Murray. He was hilarious in Groundhog Day.” Zelda said and rolled down her window. The warm air began to tousle her hair. “And for dinner let’s go to that diner on Central Avenue. They have the best root beer floats.”

“Na this is the 2016 version that was made. Were they have four weman kind of doing the same thing. I wonder if its as good.” She drove along. “But after we watch it we can come back and watch the originals.”

Figuring things out.

“Sounds good to me.” Zelda reached for the radio and fiddled with the station. Sunglasses at Night. Yeck. Footloose. No. She settled on Dancing in the Dark and hummed along.

She turned to look at the other girl. “What movie do you want to see?”

“We well need to go see whats showing and see what we want to see. I don’t have a clue what movies are on right know.” She drove along it take then about 20 min to get to the city and then another ten to the mall. “If the Ghost Buster movies here I want to see that.”

“Yes were allowed in here as long as we clean up are mess. I’ve made the cookies here before.” She got the oatmeal and other things she needed. “Some of us are late for meals or etc were allowed to warm up meals.” She shrugs as she started to mix them.

“That’s ridiculously unorganized. A student could harm themselves using the oven and if they miss on a meal, then too bad, so sad,” Niklaus insisted. “This place has entirely too much freedom.”

She leans against the wall and shrugs. “That’s your thoughts on it. I believe it depends how they handle there rules. But hey if you have conserns then go to a teacher or a adult and tell them.”

“Wow,” she said, in a state of mild shock. “You’re really spoiling me.”

She slipped into the Jeep and folded over to re-lace her dirt-starred Keds. Zelda was still uncertain how to feel about…all of this. It was unfamiliar, and frankly, startling territory for her.

Had Dani always liked me, she wondered, and was I just too daft to notice? Or perhaps this is a new thing? Zelda hadn’t a clue. She threw on a round-about smile and decided, suddenly, not to think so much.

She got in as she started to drive along. He breathed out as he slide a finger through her hair. “So were do you want to go first?” She drove along as she heads towards the main road as she drove along. “We can look for the skirt first. Maybe see a movie then dinner?”

“I wont be hidding but I am going to the kitchen.” She walked into the door as she headed to get the things to make cookies as she sets it down on the counter as she starts to mix.

“Are you even allowed in the kitchen?” Niklaus asked her suddenly.

“Never said you took my spot. You can stay I don’t mind.” She set down as she sets her bag down she slide her fingers through the wolves fur and down his back. She brought out a book set it down on her side then she got out some jerky as she takes a few bites of it. She crosses her ankle. The wolf laid down rested his head on her leg as she strokes it. She gave him a few strips of the jerky she had brought out some for him.

A hawk came down as it landed near she tossed her a piece as she leaned back. “Ah guess I never ran across you. I have been here about six months know.” She moves to take another bite as she smiles to her. “So set back down no worries about you being here there Jerky if you want some and I think I have some chips in there.”

Mira stood awkwardly for a moment, not sure if she should stay or leave anyways. After a moment she sat down, hugging her knees close to her before laying on her back and looking up at the sky. As Dani fed the white wolf some jerky she tried to ignore the fact she was surrounded by a potentially dangerous animal.

“Yeah, I’ve been here about seven or eight now but I’ve changed up my appearance now and again so you probably saw me a lot more than you think, heh.” She looked over at Dani when she mentioned food and shook her head, “No thanks, I’m good.” She looked back up and couldn’t help but feel small, the thought causing her size to shrink.

She raises a brow. “You gonna set down or just shrink? I mean either is probably fine. But best way to get to know someone is to set down and talk,” She stood as she made sure to go get some chips she sets back down.”

She leaned over and kissed his cheek. “Well deal with it ass hat I like you.” She walked along as she grabbed his hand dragged him to were the kitchen was. “Come on gonna make cookies keep me company.” She let go of his hand she walked to the oven. “Yes I agree everyone is a freak in there own way. But to me personaly I get a little more compansion and understanding here tell I am ready to face what the world well be with out a blanket.”

Niklaus tensed up immediately at the kiss to his cheek. His fists clenched tightly and his own shadow lifted off the ground to creep up behind him like a black figure with his anger. “Do not touch me,” he ordered her snappishly. “If I were you, I’d hide behind that blanket for as long as possible. Especially with this habit of pissing people of.”

“I wont be hidding but I am going to the kitchen.” She walked into the door as she headed to get the things to make cookies as she sets it down on the counter as she starts to mix.

“Hum yes I could hurt anyone just as easy as out there. But at least here I don’t feel like a freak.” She walked along as she stretched her hand. “But its good to see we have people with attitudes here I was scared this was going to be one of those place were everyone was so possitive” She said with sarcasm. “Thank you for bringing that beautiful ray of sunshine that is you here.” She kept walking. “Though I well admit I am starting to like you.” The sarcasm was dropped and honesty rang.

“They can still look at you like a freak. We are freaks.” Well… he didn’t think his sister was a freak. He definitely was, and everyone around them… probably was, too. “Yeah, well, that’s me. Ray of sunshine and shitting out rainbows. Like that neon cat,” he said with a smirk. “You shouldn’t.”

Zelda grabbed her leather jacket from the floor (her side of the room was similar to a girl’s changing room; her clothing strewn in a state of disarray) and slid into it.

She headed out the door, looking at Dani. She gave her a heartening smile. “Let’s kick it.”

She really was not fully sure how to date so she reached over slide her fingers into the others as she walked ahead blushing read as she started to walk along towards the exit to her jeep was a new one and she loved her dads car that she helped him change the oil with and etc why she kept it.

She walked to it as she opened the door for the other dad did this for mom so she should do it for Zelda.

“That sounds incredible. Spanish people don’t really have anything like that….” She said, then added teasingly: “Unless you consider drinking wine and eating paella to be a spiritual experience.”

Zelda hopped off her seat excitedly. She was glad to get out of the mansion. “Okay, let me grab my jacket first.”

She walked along as she cleared her throat. “So what do you think of this as a date? You know a first date and um maybe we can do dinner and um..” She never asked anyone out and she never dated a girl but Zelda was special to her.

“Oh hell....” She flushed red. “No one has ever explained to me how you ask someone out mostly since its a guys job and well were not guys so.” She was babbling know.

Zelda grinned and hopped off the seat. She reveled in the affection the older girl was showing her, only vaguely considering the intention behind the kiss. “Fun. I haven’t been to the mall in so long.”

She tossed her paper plate in the garbage. “Maybe you can help me find a leather mini skirt while we’re there. I want one like Debbie Harry’s.”

She looked to the other as she shrugs. “I guess I don’t really pay attention and to what they wear.” She takes a bite. “I think jeans and a shirt or tank top is all I need.” She moved to take a bite of her food. “My most fancy clothing are made from dear hide and are worn to ceremonies and pow wows.” She had never understood the hole getting dressed up. If someone did not like her for who she was she pretty much didn’t give a shit. “But I am sure we can figure something out the mall is big and there two in New York.”

“Well, whatever. You always look nice.” Zelda said, stretching daintily. She fixed her eyes glassily at the window and watched a tree branch dip in the wind. “And you have to tell me more about those Pow Wows. I’m awfully curious.”

She laughs as she looked to Zelda. “Just a lot of dancing and a lot of communing with other native Americans and the spirits. She looks to her. “There is camping and drinking off course.” She walked as she touched Zelda back. “Lets head out.” She moved to drop her hand as they kept walking. “Its kind of a party but also kind of like a spiritual retreat for some.

“Well from what I understand a powers are controlled by emotion. Maybe not all of them but the ones that are its hard for them to go to school. High school can be a emotional roller coaster and that could mean danger for the student that’s a mutant and the ones that are not. Some people come running here cause its already happen there powers have manifested to fast and they caused harm or death to someone on accident.” She shrugs she been here six months she had meet a few students heard why they were here. She thought about it as she kept walking. “There also the added fact that the classes given here are given by other mutants and there class mates are mutants. So its a secure feeling that your not the only one that is different.”

“You’re still different, that’s complete bullshit. Everyone here, if they think like that, is just creating their own bubble of safety, but it’s just as dangerous here as another place. You can get stressed anywhere, not just high school, you could end up killing someone here just as easily as out there,” he explained.

When she looked down there was a pure white wolf in front of her sniffing at her but not to close but enough he could get a smell. Dani walked past as she laughs. “Wasn’t following you this is were I come to sleep some nights on the grass.” She moved to slide down as she had set down a sleeping bag. She eased her self down as she laid there breathing out.

The wolf just stayed were he was as he tilted his head. “He curious about you. Your new to the school. He doesn’t have your sent yet.” She moved to cross her ankles as she looked up as she started to watch the stars even if she didn’t sleep she loved the stars something she shared with her grandfather.

Looking down revealed a white wolf mere inches from her feet. “Ah!” Shocked, she pulled her feet back to hug her knees to her chest. “A little warning might be nice.” She gave another loud sigh before relaxing a bit. Though, that didn’t really calm her swirling thoughts as her usual image started to shift drastically. Her dark, curled hair scrunched up into tighter knit bunches and her skin started to take on a darker hue, but only in blotches. After a moment, she laughed nervously. “New? I guess you could say that. I’ve been here for months actually… I imagine he couldn’t get my scent because it’s always changing… ever changing.” Mira looked over at Dani before starting to stand. “Sorry for taking your spot, I can just… go somewhere else I suppose.

She moved as she started to smear some mustard on to the bread as he moves to take the cheese from the wraper.

She took a second look around most of the students that were left were getting up and leaving. She moved as she puts the sandwitch together as she goes to put it on the table were the girl was as she moved to get two sodas setting it down she looked for some chips she grabbed them as she sets down as she leans back as she takes her first bite of food then looks up. “So tell me about your self?” She had seen the girl around.

Virginia hopped down from her perch on the counter and migrated to a seat across the table. She eyed the two cans sitting there in front of her. Letting her fingers slip around one, she lifted it up in a silent request.

“I’m Virginia, senior student, newbie mutant, and horrible cook,” the girl explained as the timer over the oven dinged in exclamation. She stood and extracted a small glass dish from the compact heat box. “This is just leftover pizza from the fridge. The microwave’s broken,” she stated by way of explanation.

She nods as she takes a bite of her food. “Sure set down fine by me.” She moves to take another bite of her food. “Dani I am a student more towards learning about my gifts. I am a part time student at NYU.” She moved as she takes another bite as she moves to take a drink of her soda. “Not everyone can cook so there no worries there. My mother could but my father never could.”

“Mom says there always something someone can cook. Like my dad could cook roast and things in crock pots. Cause they were simple you just added what was needed into them. Then you wait the time period and almost every time it comes out like it was meant to. The easiest thing to make is a roast.” She moves to take another bite as he takes a drink of her soda.

She thought about that. “I think that I need to learn to control my powers. I want to see what I am capable of as well. From what Xavier says that are powers well evolve. I am going to go to college at NYU and then I well also live here as I do that. Train and see what I grow into.” She looked to him. “Then maybe all move out and find my way.”

“You’re attending a University, as well?” Niklaus asked. He had assumed only students could live here, but that showed to be… false. “So, what exactly is this place Just somewhere for… mutants to come and learn to control themselves? Then what’s the point of holding school classes?”
