Scrunching her face up in false offense, Iris scoffed at the older male’s words. “I mean, yeah, I know, but I thought you loved me enough to lie to me, Ryan. That’s what we had going for us here. Now what do we have?” She joked, her gaze following his reach up for what he was grabbing as she let go of her shirt. “You’re probably not wrong, but also I’m a new mom so I get away with so much right now. One time at the grocery store, I spent almost a whole five minutes rifling through my wallet and the diaper bag because I thought I had coupons but I’d forgotten them, and Rosie was starting to get fussy, naturally at the perfect time, and I was getting exasperated and this lady was just like ‘honey it’s okay, I’ll just put in the discount code for you, don’t worry about it.’ Mom privilege.”
“I’ve gotta start changing my ways, lying to women hasn’t actually gotten as far in my life as it has for some guys.” He laughed. Tapping the box of rivets against his palm for a few seconds, Ryan listened to Iris’s story, his eyebrows lifting then squinting after another few seconds, staying quiet when she finally finished. “Why are you using coupons?” He asked, head shaking. “Your fiance’s family owns fucking Staples and you’re using coupons? Fuck off.” Ryan rolled his eyes, walking away from her but not too quickly.
