Representation in movies and books
Having only one or two characters who aren’t white isn’t diversity, it’s an excuse to not be called racist. True, in certain cases all the characters must be of the same race, such in the case of certain ancient historical pieces where contact between continents was scarce, it can be acceptable. (i.e. Middle Ages) but even then certain characters that should be darker are cast completely white. In modern pieces, directors will put only one or two characters of a race besides white but that doesn’t even make it diverse unless their minority is part of the script. It’s getting annoying to see movies casting 95% white people and 5% of any other race when those other races could be represented
