I wrote this in 2016 for my friend, who had gone completely insane over Madara’s tragedy and dragged me along with her. I can’t even begin to describe how deeply we dove into the canon to dig out the full truth and tie up every loose end. We crawled through every databook on our knees, examined each manga frame under a magnifying glass, devoured Japanese myths, watched kumite competitions, studied how taiko drum skins are stretched… In three months, our discussion log reached 4,000 pages. Totally worth it.
