"I didn’t." He sighed and kissed her forehead pulling away to look her over. "It’s been hard. I missed you more then you will ever know."
His tongue traced his lips and he let his hook run through her hair. “Did you not want me anymore?”
"You could have come after me."
Of course she would have wanted that, but even in her childish fantasies, she found it unlikely. If asked to explain, the fairy would have been at a loss for words; it was not something one shared, but rather something one experienced. Drawing her lips together, she gazed up at him, one hand brushing against his cheekbone in a fleeting gesture. "You know that's not it, but we had - or have - limitations. I may have been your 'true love,' but I was not the only one you saw. There are things even I can't compete with and it got to the point where it was harder to stay and watch you fall in and out of love than it was to leave.
So, I did us both the favor. But I don't love you any less today than any day that preceded this one. My heart will always be yours."
