"You can say that [orangutans] are not dependent on social support and approval, and if you admire this in them, that an orang is irredeemably his own person, 'the most poetic of the apes', researcher Lynn Miles told me once in an unguarded moments. What she had in mind was the difference between orangs and chimps in the way they carry on their discourse with the world.
Chimps are much admired for their tool use and for their problem-solving relationship with things as they find them...the orang is, let us say, not so replete with enterprise. Give an orangutan the hexagonal peg and the several shapes of hole, and then hide behind the two-way mirror and watch how he engages with the problem.
And watch and watch and watch--because he does not engage with the problem. He uses the peg to scratch his back, has a look-see at his right wrist, makes a half-hearted and soon abandoned attempt to use his fur as a macramé project, stares dreamily out the window if there is one and at nothing in particular if not, and the sun begins to set. (The sun will also set if you are observing a chimp, but the chimp is more amusing, so you are less likely to mark the moment in your notes. An orang observer has plenty of time to be a student of the vanities of sunset.)
You watch, and the orang dreams...when casually and as if thinking of something else, the orang slips the hexagonal peg into the hexagonal hole. And continues staring off dreamily."

do not taste plants if you don't know what they are
do not identify a fruit as edible just because it tastes sweet
hope you didn't eat any fucking seeds, bro
And today, we have this winner:
I saw the photo in my feed and went ohh, dude, no, we do not handle yellow rocks with our bare hands until we know for sure what they are. And I know that orange...
In comments, they continue:
and that's where I started cussing at the computer monitor. But someone else had got there first:
So just as a reminder, folks. If you don't know what it is, don't put it in your fucking mouth!
YOU GODDAMN STUPID MOTHERFUCKER
I need my weird alone time or I will explode
''what if you regret it'' then you will expirience regret - a normal and unavoidable part of the human expirience.
the more you twist yourself into a pretzel to avoid regret the harder it will hit when it eventually catches up to you.
I’m bored so I wanna talk about Iron lung more so Simon and the 5 phases of dehumanization he went through by the C.O.I in the movie that I’ve noticed upon rewatching
Phase 1 (Stereotyping and intelligence degradation): stereotyping him and treating him like an uneducated fucking moron who doesn’t know how to do basic things or even how to read just because of where he’s from (Eden)
Phase 2 (discrimination and scapegoating): discriminating against him because of where he’s from (Eden) and making it very clear that they don’t care if he lives or dies and that he “deserves” this they are actively putting him through a fate worse than death for something that wasn’t even his fault actively treat him like scum just because they made him a scapegoat
Phase 3 (enforce insanity and dismissal): his insanity. That they caused and him practically having to BEG them to believe him and make him go insane trying to get them to believe him Even one of them says that “he would say anything” thinking he’s lying and that he’s not worth the risk of saving.
Phase 4 (Anonymization and reduction to a label): the C.O.I didn’t even bother to learn his name. And all they see him as was “the butcher” despite him trying to help them. They sent him down there to die and they didn’t even bother to learn his name or anything about him
Phase 5 (False Hope and Animalistic subjugation): giving him false hope and saying it was “worth it” for him to die and that he wouldn’t get his freedom he died in pain, suffering and fear like an animal in a cage
All of this he went through and how hard he fought just to die in the end anyway and the C.O.I get to be the hero’s that saved the stars thanks to him.
In conclusion my goat deserved so much better I love you Simon
PS: Thank you Markiplier for this wonderful movie
is it weird to be kinda mad about how fucking shitty disney has treated moana
when that first movie came out it was such a breath of fresh air. moana was such a unique lead for a disney animation flick -- she straight up LOOKED different than all the other ones, and she was a fantastic character in her own right. the world of the movie was rich and unique, i straight up saw it twice in theaters, i NEVER do that! AND i got the blu-ray! when i left the theater that second time i was like "i could watch a whole franchise out of this, they got something special here." and what did we get? a bad tv show that got retrofitted into a bad theatrical movie because disney hit the panic button after fumbling their anniversary movie, and a bad live action remake that's hitting theaters less than 10 years after the original because dwayne johnson pressured execs into making it after his last couple movies flopped. whatever comes next for this franchise is just gonna have the stink of these last 2 projects. and it just. it sucks, you know? it makes me upset
*butcher army quackity voice* legit question for rural l’manbergians – how do i kill the 30-50 feral hogs that run into my yard within 3-5 mins while my small kids play?
(aka i started thinking really hard abt totem of undying usage so i character designed about it) (rb’s appreciated!)
I can tell youre knitting with no love in your heart i can see the hateful intentions in every stitch.

we are NOT bringing 4chan incel terminology to this site, take that "foid" out of your post and go wash your blog out with soap
I think those fancomics where Calvin from Calvin and Hobbes is transgender are cute and fun but I also think it's a deep misunderstanding of Calvin's character to think he would transition into a heterosexual normie who goes to her high school reunion. That girl would have neopronouns and fang implants
Adult Calvin is a tattoo artist named Panthera who is the bassist in a terrible metal band called Captain Napalm and Hobbes helps do faer E injections
I know it's like 2 weeks too late to change it but I'm so mad I didn't realize that the band would obviously be called "Get Rid Of Slimy GirlS". I walk the road of shame
had a meringue tummy fluff experience so delightful that I took like 2000 pictures so heres a sampling
Yeah, oncoming traffic gtfo the road girls.
