when miguel wins the tournament but in the process loses himself and johnny realizes that he taught this boy to become everything he used to be without teaching him to be better than that. and miguel doesn’t even realize what he’s become because he just sees it as a victory and “there’s nothing dirty about winning” but like, there is! and we the audience are simultaneously rooting for AND against miguel because it’s like, we wanted him to win, but not like this and there’s no good guys vs bad guys this time because we’re all just people doing what we’re taught..... and there’s no such thing as a bad student, only a bad teacher, and johnny is realizing he hasn’t been the best teacher, and oh god oh fuck why is this the best show ever made
