Original Content Writing 1 - Week 15

Where will you adjust your essay to strengthen your point?;

I plan to adjust my essay to strengthen my point by giving the most details I can about examples I have made in class. Doing so will prepare me for the real world where I will have to do this with employers.

I also plan to strengthen my point through examples with explanation of how they connect. I like that we have this huge reflection at the end so we can connect our learning to things in the real world.

What I Like Most About my Learning

Out of everything that I've learned throughout this course, I like that the content I learned can be applied to my future career. As a future teacher, I will need to adjust my audience when writing depending on if I am writing to parents, colleagues, administrators, or children. Completing an audience analysis for each project in this course has helped me understand who my audience is and how I should effectively communicate with them.

what are you most proud of with your writing process?

I am most proud of how much my writing process has improved. Coming into this, I had a very basic writing process that I used in High School. It was not the best because high school work is different than college work. I was able to write something, get lots of feedback from it, and change anything that needed changed. I feel that feedback is extremely important before turning in a paper/project because it gives a second set of eyes to read over it and make sure it is perfect for your audience.

what do you like most about your learning?

Something I like most about my learning is being able to look back and reflect on everything. I love reflecting on things I did because it makes me think about the true meaning of why I did what I did. I learned a lot throughout this class that will be very helpful in my future career as an elementary teacher. I will be using these skills every day. I have notes to look back on if I ever question something to do with web writing. There were a lot of eye-opening experiences such as the Content Analysis Project-collecting all the data from social media.

what do you like the most about your essay?

Something I like most about my essay is that it is a huge reflection on the class. It allows us to look back and connect these questions to assignments that we completed in class. These four pillars- critical thinking, communication, collaboration, and creativity are going to help us with our future career. We will be able to use this essay to help us in our future interview for our job. They are going to ask similar questions, so we need to be able to answer them efficiently and effectively. I enjoyed writing this essay and am excited to finish it!

what questions do you have about web writing that will help you after you finish this course?

If there is more than one specific audience that we are writing to, do we write more to the general audience or call out specific things to each audience? I am in the early childhood education program, so I am going to be a teacher. Will there be times where two separate audiences are present that I will need to specify which audience I am communicating to? I am excited to become a teacher. I feel like web writing has a huge impact on this job especially with everything turning to online.

Original Content Writing 2 - Week 14

Share an example of your favorite television show or movie - how does that show/movie help you work through this project and understand angry fandom?:

A favorite show of mine currently is The Rookie on Hulu! Although I love the show and haven't seen any backlash directly, I could understand if someone was angry since there was a delay in the new season reveal. It makes sense as an audience to be a big fan of a show or movie and makes even more sense if the viewer makes a bond with it. If an audience member makes a bond with a specific production, angry fandom is likely to happen which is why companies should have good writers who understand how to respond to this.

I agree. Some shows hit closer to home for some people. If this is the case, I can understand how fans could be upset about a show being cancelled. Companies should have someone who is respectful and caring responding to these comments.

My Favorite TV Show

One of my absolute favorite TV shows is New Girl. I just know that if New Girl had been canceled within the first few seasons I would have been enraged. One of the things that I would've been upset about would be not knowing whether or not Nick and Jess ever ended up together. I also would've been upset because I wouldn't be able to see my favorite characters accomplish the things that they did or grow into the mature adults that they during the last season- I truly would've missed out on so much!

Hmm this show sounds interesting! I may have to check it out! I recently finished Virgin River and feel the same about this show. I would have been very angry if it was cancelled in the first few seasons.

A Cancelled Show

Recently, it was announced that the show Yellowstone would be canceled after Season Five. So far, only part of Season Five has been released, with the second half following a full year later. Between the cancellation of the show and the random year in between the release of Season Five, there have been so many questions left unanswered and to be completely honest, it's really annoying. I almost don't even want to watch the last couple of episodes because it's now been so long since I've seen the show and it'll be over soon anyway.

I feel this too! I have not watched the show, but when they release a few episodes at a time and take forever to get the other ones out, you feel like you have to go back and rewatch the first ones to know what was going on!

Share an example of your experience as a fan of a show that was cancelled:

A favorite show of mine that was discontinued on Netflix was New Girl! I was initially not a fan until my roommate got me addicted to watching it with her. It was sad to hear it was leaving Netflix! I am fortunate to have a Hulu account so I can still watch randomly, but still a let down.

I have never heard of this show, but I am like that with some shows too. It takes a couple of episodes to get into it and figure out if you want to keep watching. I might have to check this show out. Thank you for sharing!

As of now, this is my cancellation post. Is this too general? Should I add or take anything out of this post? I feel that now looking back on it, it could be written better but I'm not sure how. Any feedback is appreciated. Thank you!

share an example of your favorite television show or movie - how does that show/movie help you work through this project and understand angry fandom?

I have two favorite TV shows. One is Virgin River, and the other is The Night Agent. The Night Agent only has one season so far. I believe they plan to make another one but I’m not positive. For this project, the night agent helps me work through and understand angry fandom because I would not be happy if they did not continue with The Night Agent. I believe so much more could happen with this show. It is not supposed to end like this. I can understand where people are coming from when their shows get cancelled because I would feel the same if The Night Agent got cancelled.

I do not have a personal experience of a show being cancelled that I watch because honestly, I do not watch many shows. I barely watch TV, but I can give an example of how I would feel if a show that I was into was cancelled. I would feel angry because I cannot stand it when they end a season on a cliffhanger, and you must wait months to figure it out. I recently watched Virgin River for the first time and watch 5 seasons straight through. I really enjoyed that show but would love to know what the next season consists of. I love to make up things in my head for what could happen. I would be upset if they were to cancel a TV show I was enjoying.

What exactly should be included with our style guide? I am not understanding what content should be provided with this. Is this supposed to be included within the rest of our project or is that a separate document? Thank you!

Write a style rule for creating a TikTok video - how does this help attract followers?:

I believe a good style rule for creating a TikTok video is to have a good thumbnail image. A thumbnail image is what the viewer sees first before the video starts playing on one's account/profile page. Since a thumbnail is the first thing you see, it can help attract followers if it is designed well.

I also included this in my post of a style rule for creating a TikTok video. This is the first thing the audience sees before viewing the video. If they do not like the first thing they see, they will likely not watch the rest of the post.

Style Rule for a Short Tumblr Post

A style rule when writing a short Tumblr post is to be concise when conveying your message. As students, we are all busy, and we are not going to spend time reading a long or complicated post to reply to. Rather, we are going to choose read and respond to short and concise post. Keeping the content brief will more than likely increase the engagement on your posts.

I agree. Keeping it short and to the point will attract more readers because they don't have to read more than what they have to. As long as we are getting the point across and answering the question there should be no reason for any extra fluff.

A style rule for creating a Tik Tok is to use a front picture that will attract a certain audience. That is the first thing they see before they watch the video so that could also tell them what the video may be about. This helps attract followers because if people see the first photo and are interested in it, they are going to continue to watch the video and may go into the account to watch more related content. If they are not interested in the first photo, they may scroll past and never interact with the account again.
