Some things that bring me joy lately.

Putting stickers on my stuff. As a 29 year old turning 30 later this year, don't let people take your wimsy away. Mark your stuff with stickers. Let your personality shine through in the things that you own. Be mindful of consumption but we can still enjoy our silly little things.

The picture of the moon from Artemis II has been so inspiring to look at for many people. Something so beautiful that only a human could capture because satellites and robots can't find the beauty in color.

Taking the time to slow down and focus on the little rituals. Taking care of my skin, nails, and making meals when I'm well enough to do so. It's been helping keep me grounded and helping me to feel a little more in control of my days.

I keep thinking of ways for me to disconnect from online so much, which seems weird if I'm also wanting to blog a little more... But I've been thinking of picking up some old interests and trying to focus on those this year. I'm thinking of photography, it's always been something that interests me but hard to do being as introverted as I am and barely being able to leave the house most days. But I think picking an at-home hobby and a going-out hobby so I can do what fits my needs.

For while I'm home, I thought it would be nice to read more and start annotating the books I read. I want to give a little variety because sometimes I just want a story, but other times I want learn something. Lately, I've been reading Bringer of Dust by J.M. Miro and The Library of Questions by Lida Pavlova which is a little collection of unconventional tarot spreads and journaling prompts and I already had fun with the first one.

One of the things I wanted to do this year was start a CD collection because I miss physical media and want to be able to see what music I really gravitate towards through the year. I still use a streaming service (YouTubeMusic) for the stuff I can't get easily or for finding albums I want to buy, but I wanna try to have some more offline time too so putting on a CD and stepping away from my computer sounds nice.

I'm also trying to make my space feel super cozy, so I'm working on where I could put more lighting and found this cute and gentle lamp for this corner and I think it makes the space feel better

Sometimes focusing on the small joys is so grounding and helps me get through tough times 🖤✨🕯️

Lately I've been thinking of how nice it's been since letting go of trying to "do something with myself" Since becoming disabled I've always tried to still do things that made me feel useful. Like I couldn't let myself do nothing, I can't be lazy. But I couldn't see just how burnt out I had been.

I've spent the majority of my life being in pain, fighting through some kind of stress related to my illness in some way, and I've always had to push through because what other option is there? But now that I have meds that help and have been on them for a few years now, I've finally been able to truly rest.

I've let myself let go of a bunch of things so that I could gradually add back in the things that truly bring me joy.

So far I've been wearing makeup again after taking a break from it. I've been getting my skincare nailed down and have been feeling good about my skin lately so I thought it was time to see what kind of makeup I gravitate towards because I wanted to change from my past style a bit. I felt great today and I don't think my makeup has ever looked better ✨🖤✌🏻

Finished my last book so I'm starting Bringer of Dust by J.M. Miro. I read the first book in the Talent series and I've been looking forward to reading this one!

Been enjoying reading the Library at Hellebore. It had amazing descriptors that have this romantic, gory, morbid kinda vibe to it. 100% will need to go back and highlight all the great wording throughout

Finished reading "The Macabre" by Kosoko Jackson a few days ago 📖

I haven't finished writing my review yet (still unsure where I want to post my reviews, open to suggestions or if here is a good enough place to post full reviews?) but I have mixed feelings about it. The plot is a good idea, it's what initially made me want to read it, but toward the end (late 20's) some of the writing felt a little messy. I won't get into it right now but there was a detail written in that made me have to stop and think "why?".

Still, it wasn't bad by any means, just... As if last minute details were written in for shock value? Something that acts like a shocking revelation but if you think about it too much it just doesn't make much sense to be written in. Regardless, I'm still glad I read it 🖤

I finally got enough meowlux vault cards to change my hair to what I wanted. I feel like it's a little too much for the amount I needed to save up just for some hair parts ;-; buty character is cute AF so worth, now I have two little cowlicks that remind me of moth antenna :3
