I love how Faith’s dancing so perfectly encapsulates her character. She’s dancing like her life depends on it, because when she’s partying she can forget all the guilt and pain. There’s desperation in it because it’s an escape. Eliza Dushku is such a phenomenal actress

Seeing Wesley in Angel after seeing him in Buffy feels like I’m being gaslit… I understand he has an arc but as early as season 1 and 2 there’s some dialogue that offhandedly mentions him having hookups and like… we all saw his kiss with Cordelia. You’re telling me that the worst kisser in the world gets laid? Regularly? Did he get infinitely better at kissing/sex in the interim of being a “rogue demon hunter”?? The only romance the audience has seen him in he fumbles it so badly because he SLOBBERS on the girl he’s kissing and now we’re supposed to believe that he fucks??

Drusilla and Darla have been on screen together for five minutes and I already need these beautiful evil women to kiss

I love that Willow hardly sings in Once More With Feeling. Literally the only line she has is “I think this line is mostly filler”. Because everyone is singing what they’re keeping bottled up, what they feel guilty for, what they’re anxious about. And Willow is so full of hubris she has nothing she needs to get off of her chest. She’s not worried or guilty about anything, she knows she’ll fix any issues that come up. She literally defeated death itself. Buffy acting kind of off, Tara arguing with her, Giles reprimanding her, she doesn’t have to worry about any of that. Cause she can fix it. She can fix everything with magic.

I can’t with the editing on Angel, I know it’s supposed to look like the visions but it’s so funny to me

Living in the American South I desperately want to wear crosses in a cool punk Buffy the Vampire Slayer way but I know everyone will just think I’m Christian ;-;

Everyone is entitled to their own opinions and interpretations, but a lot of opinions I see on Spike feel like they’re undermining the entire point of his character.

Spike thematically represents morally grey areas. He’s not the simple black and white worldview that Buffy has as a young teen. It’s not good vs evil. It’s not Angel vs Angelus. Spike truly is evil, and sometimes he truly is good. Canonically he has done countless reprehensible, immoral, disgusting things. But he also supports Buffy. He cares for Dawn. He would sacrifice himself for either of them in a heartbeat. He tries to do better. Some of that is rooted in selfish reasons and some of it isn’t.

My main point is that Spike isn’t simple. That is the entire point of his character. He’s a representation of Buffy growing up and having to face that morality is a lot more complex and confusing than you want it to be.

When people defend him so much that they pretend he hasn’t done anything wrong, it erases why he’s a good character. It erases everything he represents and all the work he puts in to grow. So many of the opinions I see on Spike are “he’s done nothing wrong” or “he’s purely evil no one should like him”. It’s ironic that people have very reductionist views of him. The whole point is that he forces Buffy, and you as the viewer, to think about moral grey areas. To make you uncomfortable. Because we want morality to be simple. The older you get the more you realize it isn’t.

The fact that people have that reaction to him kind of shows how incredible the writing is and how much he truly embodies that theme. He’s there to make you uncomfortable and force you to think about moral grey areas - and fans try to simplify him to make themselves comfortable. Including me sometimes! It’s a completely normal and human reaction. And it’s why he’s a great character.

I don’t know how I feel about Spike. He’s one of my favorites. But I wish he wasn’t. I’ll see a spuffy/spike post and like it. I’ll see an anti spuffy/anti spike post and like it. I see people vehemently defending him and I just can’t get behind it, but I still love him as a character, but I also feel guilty for liking him. Sometimes I hate him. I think one of his defining traits that makes him so interesting is that he is a contradiction in so many ways (being so smart he can find essentially the holy grail, being so stupid he IMMEDIATELY loses it, being in love with Buffy and wanting to kill her, being a lover boy and a monster etc.) so of course I can’t have a straight forward opinion on him.

Xander convincing Buffy to try to stay with Riley is the most atrocious advice ever and the only justification for it that I’ll accept is that Xander is a little in love with Riley

I don’t know how the show expects us to empathize with Riley being supposedly ignored or disregarded by Buffy when she spent all of season 4 OBSESSED with him. Literally one of the major plot points was that she grew apart from her friends cause she was so distracted with him. And now that she isn’t (for very valid reasons???) he’s convinced she doesn’t love him?? Like?? He’s painted as such a martyr for supporting Buffy while her mom is in the hospital as if that’s not the BARE FUCKING MINIMUM

Buffy and Riley left the honeymoon phase and he immediately thought “you know what? I should cheat on her while her mom dies of cancer 😌”
