We are Wasteland System, an artist living with Dissociative Identity Disorder (DID). This blog / comic explores our DID and other mental health struggles in a creative way.
Most people online know us as Salem. Friends can use our IRL name.

Anything we post here is intended as an exploration of our own experience. Psychology is not our field of study and our projects should not be used as academic sources or therapeutic tools.
We're somewhat open and often joke around, but please don't get overfamiliar or make assumptions about me + my trauma + my "sources". We're unique parts of a unique person.
We do not use plural or multiple as an identity label (no shade, they just don't gel with us). We call ourself a system or a person with DID.
Our personal long-term goal is to increase integration and reduce overall headcount, so expect fusions and other system changes over time. Currently we are working on improving cooperation and communication.
Made a lot of tweaks to the site layout and also added a custom theme selector. It doesn't carry over from page to page but I'll try to figure out how to do that in the future.
Dynamic theme now works from page to page by using localStorage, so you only have to set it once and it will override the CSS of other pages you visit o7
Check it out for yourself (try clearing your cache if it doesn't work); personally I think it's very cool I've been wanting to set this up for awhile lol

We we're having difficulty describing system roles in short bullet lists so we're back to paragraph descriptions… attempting to be as concise as possible but shit's complicated. You know how it is.

Btw if anyone like us has many highly opinionated parts who don't necessarily want to share writing space but you don't want to buy 100 separate journals, here's something we've been trying out and having decent luck with the past month: binder with tabs & loose paper.
We got all supplies from the supermarket. Total investment was about $25 USD for binder, paper, and tabs (might be cheaper for you if you need less tabs). It's been a lot less hassle than trying to arbitrarily divide up single notebooks.
Also allows for inserts of different types of paper (we got both lined and grid) & stuff stored in sheet protectors, makes it quite easy to reorganize sections if desired, and allows privacy for parts that don't want others to read their sections. We'd also be able to migrate stuff between different binders if needed.
Basically, lots of flexibility is built into it, which is good for us as someone relatively early in our journey since we're still throwing shit at the wall to figure out what works best for us. Honestly I could see something like this being good for non-systems who have trouble keeping their journals organized too, so we wanted to share it.
