@morrowforge
MorrowForge is going dormant (For now)
Dear friends and supporters,
After much thought, I’ve made the decision to temporarily pause operations at MorrowForge. As many of you know, I’ve been balancing the creative work behind MorrowForge with the very real pressures of job-hunting and day-to-day life. Right now, I need to give my full attention to securing stable employment and looking after my wellbeing.
This isn’t goodbye—just a pause. The stories, the ideas, and the passion behind MorrowForge aren’t going anywhere. Once I’m in a more secure position, I fully intend to return and pick things up again with renewed energy and purpose.
Thank you for your support so far—whether through kind words, shared enthusiasm, or financial backing. It has meant the world, and it’s not taken for granted. If you’re a patron or subscriber, please feel free to adjust or cancel your support during this dormant period—there will be no hard feelings at all.
Until we meet again, Dan Founder, MorrowForge
Mage With a Mic Episode 4 Title & Synopsis
The fourth episode of Mage With a Mic, titled Court Unawares will be released Thursday 12th June at 6pm GMT.
Synopsis Doughball’s “free trial” has officially expired — and as part of his ongoing sentence, he is now legally obligated to read aloud the official transcript of his trial.
With mounting irritation and a flair for dramatic sighs, Doughball narrates the courtroom proceedings, including the poetic ponderings of Owlfolk Judge Nibwhit and a series of increasingly exaggerated testimonies.
The crime? Still conspicuously unstated. But as the courtroom drama unfolds, one thing becomes clear: justice in Thither is anything but a hoot.
Happy Audio Drama Sunday! Don't forget, your mind is yours alone. Do what it takes to make yourself comfy. Build a library in there, play some music, draw the blinds, listen to an audio drama, kick out unwanted guests. Make it your home.
@saffronandperi S3: I love it when fantasy goes sci-fi, and this season did it so well! I was not expecting it but it was so much fun. The new intro music especially was perfect for setting the new scene. It was also a perspective shift for the show as we usually hear all the shenanigans from Peri's point of vuew on the helpline. Saffron got to live out elements of her favourite tv show and successfully rescue the dragon eggs, as well as learn a thing or two along the way. I'm interested to hear if we'll learn more about Peri's side of the story, other than wrangling goblins. 🧚♂️
@forgedbondspod - Chapter 19: Aww Hermes going to Phae for gay panic time! I'm loving the growth of their friendship. And then Phae admitting to starting to feel some type of way about maybe wanting a relationship of her own... Wonder where that'll go? 👀 Di, Apollo and Artemis' conversation was too funny. Ugh Hera, it is killing me to hear how much going along with Zeus' charade is sapping the life out of her. Please let's hear Hera fight Demeter! 💍
@vestaclinicpod Episode 25 - Calculated Risk: Another time travel episode!! Going through the loops from the time traveller's perspective was so fun (not for them though). So chaotic!! I think it was a really great portrayal of the organized chaos of skilled professionals dealing with a serious situation. I'm not a nurse or doctor, but I was a lifeguard and that was definitely my experience. Also how convenient is it that Dr. Adra's former anaesthetist shows up right as the team needs one for NOSL11... (P.S. Fellow Patreon subscribers, how about that ending of this week's bonus episode? 👀) ⚕️
@morrowforge Mage With a Mic Ep3 - Fangs For Nothing: That certainly wasn't the vampire convention we were all expecting! It sounds like we're hearing an inkling of a broader mystery...why did someone want Mage Doughball to be there? What did it accomplish? Very curious indeed... 🎤
@monkeymanproductions Waiting For October S1 Episode 8.5 - Karo: Some final thoughts from Karo at the end of the season. I really love how things are set up for the between-season mini-series (the MOON) and going forward. Karo and Vonnie are going to have some work to do together, and we still have so much to learn about Karo and October. Also my fingers are crossed that the cat Karo is talking to is Frederick (who was just being stubborn by not saying anything) and they'll be around to keep Vonnie company in S2! 🎃
@re-dracula Week 4: A couple of very brief notes from Jonathan, the first of which brought a glimmer of hope that was almost immediately dashed, the second of which really hit home just how helpless he is. Our poor friend is really in it now... 🦇
Listen To "Fangs For Nothing" Now!
The third episode of Mage With a Mic, "Fangs For Nothing" is now available wherever you get your podcasts. Synopsis: Mage Doughball is once again out and about, this time visiting VampCon- Thither's largest gathering of the vampiric community. When he meets Count Crovyn Duskleech, he learns not all is as it is meant to be, and something sinister may be stirring in the shadows... Watch on YouTube Listen on Apple Podcasts Listen on Spotify
Mage With a Mic Update
Hi everyone, unfortunately due to unforeseen personal circumstances, I'm having to delay the next episode of Mage With a Mic by one week.
The new date for the episode will be the 29th May, and you'll then get Episode 4 the following week, before returning to a fortnightly schedule. I could have rushed out the episode for tomorrow, but I don't want to provide you with a subpar episode, especially as I think that Fangs For Nothing is going to be an absolute hoot. Thank you for your understanding, and Mage Doughball can't wait to welcome you back into Thither next Thursday!
Happy Audio Drama Sunday! Living is messy and we all make mistakes. Try to find the things worth saving in all the mess. Now let's go make some more mistakes!
@saffronandperi - Season 2: This season we got to hear our favourite fairy godmother and djinnia (and friends) play around in Wonderland! Poor Tristan does seem to attract trouble like crazy, and then everyone being affected by goblin shenanigans? So much going on! And to end on such a cliff hanger! Saffron and those innocent dragon eggs better get back safe. 🧚♂️
@monkeymanproductions MTO Phases Story 5 - Nima: This month's story is one that gave me goosebumps and brought tears to my eyes the first time I read it. Hearing it brought to life by Serena Rahhal, the original voice of Nima, made it that much more impactful. Returning to Palestine, to Jerusalem, to where Nima used to live... In particular, the mention of Rafah in the 20s, which is happening right now. MTO has always been about hope and resistance, and that comes through loud and clear. 🌘
@morrowforge Mage With a Mic Ep1 - The Warehouse and Ep2 - Creaks & Crones: A new AD where Mage Doughball, who's been sentenced to be the head of tourism for Thither, reports on different locations, events and people around the realm. I enjoyed the first two episodes so far, especially Doughball's snark – you can definitely tell he did not choose to be there. The world-building and the small bits we've heard of how the magic systems work sound really interesting and I'm looking forward to hearing more! 🎤
@vestaclinicpod Episode 24 - Chromatophore: Another Xael episode! And this time with the company of our special boy Sec! I did not realize that Xaelest harboured resentment towards Sec but I completely understand where she's coming from. Especially with what we learned this episode about why she stopped performing surgery... And then to hear that the scenario the examiners gave her was the same? How awful. And now she'll have to go back to the form she had when it happened in order to help NOSL11. Someone (Faye) needs to give Xael a hug, though I doubt she'd readily accept it.
As an aside, I absolutely love how descriptions are done in this show, how the expressions used feel so real. This particular line stood out to me this episode: "they tugged their forearm against the sky of their stomach". Isn't that such a gorgeous expression, knowing that ceresaurs' skin runs from milky blue to the rich indigo of twilight, and that star maps of their flights show up on their skin? Just beautiful. ⚕️
@forgedbondspod - Chapter 18: I've said it before and I've said it again, I want to punch Zeus in the face so bad... He was being his usual, awful, manipulative self this episode, and I hate how he, as king of the gods, keeps getting away with it. I don't trust him for one second. Poor Hera, dragged back into his terrible influence. No one even knows she went with him – Hera, tell someone, please! 💍
@monkeymanproductions Waiting For October S1 Episode 8 - Back Together: Season finale! Karo and Vonnie are back together for a much needed conversation after their solo adventures. I love how many different characters popped in as they were trying to find someplace to talk, and then October springing Halloween on them! The conversation was tough, but their love and trust was evident through the whole thing. Especially in the story that Karo told of how they make things work. It definitely had me tearing up. And then the ending!!! Let's go back to the mooooon!! 🎃
@re-dracula Week 2: Jonathan discovers lizard fashion and explores the castle. We all knew there was some creepy shit going on at the castle, and Jonathan was a little weirded out by some things, but now he knows about the creepy shit for sure. Seems like the new goal will just to be stay alive... 🦇
The third episode of Mage With a Mic is coming next week! Doughball is out and about in Thither again with Fangs For Nothing.
Synopsis: Mage Doughball is attending Thither’s annual Vampire Convention to learn all about the vampiric community and share it with the rest of the world. Count Crovyn Duskleech is the Head Vampire at this year’s con, but what terrible secret is he hiding? And why does this year's convention suck?
Listened to the first two eps of Mage With a Mic by @morrowforge (go listen!! now!!) and had a real fun time. Afterwards I wanted to give my hand a design for our Mage Doughball (design subject to change). It's very good, very silly, I'm excited to hear more!
I Need You!
Hey everyone! (I don't know why I feel compelled to say "Hey", but Tumblr seems to be the most community driven and polite platform, so it just seems right) I was wondering if you could help me out with my audio drama/ narrative podcast, Mage With a Mic.
I would love to get as much feedback on Episode 1 "The Warehouse", and Episode 2 "Creaks & Crones" as possible. It can be singing their praises, it can be offering constructive criticism, it can be anything.
I'm working with a charity here in the UK called The King's Trust to make these happen- and to get funding to continue making audio dramas (and for MorrowForge to be in a place where we can commission works from fellow queer and neurodivergent storytellers and artists), I need proof that there's an audience for what we're doing.
I've attached links to the YouTube videos of both episodes, and you can find the podcasts on Apple Podcasts, Spotify, and everywhere else by searching for "Mage With a Mic".
Thank you so much in advance for anyone who listens and offers feedback and reviews- your willingness to help and invest a little bit of time into the show will hopefully be the start of something genuinely incredible in the space, not just for myself, but for others out there too.

Audio Drama Sunday - 11 May
I actually went back to Welcome to Night Vale this week! This was the podcast that got me into the whole medium. I haven’t kept up with all the later episodes, but it was easy to understand, and so nice revisiting all the characters. Also, I clicked save draft on last week’s audio drama Sunday (instead of post), so I’m combining the two weeks.
Welcome to Night Vale — 267 - Missed Connections: As usual, this episode had sentences that were shockingly beautiful in scenes that were bafflingly weird. It swung between sweet, funny, creepy — but spent a good amount of time tearing my heart out. The weather was great, and you should absolutely go listen to some of these missed connections 📻
At The Bottom of the Garden — Chapter 3: Spider - Chapter 7: Flame: The descriptions of the fairies are so creative, as well as Aidan’s issues with the music box. Some of the things that happened to the fairies other “friends” spell out ominous things for Nadia, and they also remind me a little bit of The Witches by Roald Dahl. The fact that the fairies often seem to have good intentions makes it even weirder. Finding out about Nadia’s father cheating and the perspective of Nadia’s mother is so much more interesting than I expected it to be. I’m so curious how Aidan and Nadia’s stories turn out, so I’m looking forward to the season 1 finale. You can read my full review here 🧚
AnMage With A Mic — Episode 1: Mage With A Mic definitely made the time rush by. It’s got light goofs, fantasy tropes, and the title of the episode — “The Warehouse” — actually made me laugh once I finished listening 🧙♂️
Mil-Liminal — episode 1: This is the first “cozy horror” I’ve ever listened to, and it’s a nice genre! Caro is a sympathetic character, and it’s very tense listening to The Car Scene. It reminded me so much of campfire scary stories. The best part for me would probably be when Sam and his wife took Caro into their spare room. A nightmarish supernatural incident is better when you have people to rely on afterwards, and a safe place to sleep ⛽️
The Adventure Zone: Amnesty — Episode 2-4: this show is SO much fun. The music is entertaining, the dialogue is funny, the narration is epic. Every episode contains a new fascinating thing and a new daft reaction from the protagonists. Not to mention it feels decently uplifting: the main characters have friends, support systems and ways of fighting back from the very beginning🌲
Episode 2 of Mage With a Mic, "Creaks & Crones" is now available on all podcast platforms.
If you loved The Warehouse, I think you're going to love this. If you hated The Warehouse, I'd implore you to give this one a go. If you haven't heard The Warehouse, you have two episodes to listen to!
Every listen and share really helps MorrowForge grow, and will help us be able to collaborate with cool queer and neurodivergent people, giving them a voice and a platform to share their artistic work, all whilst being paid fairly. Synopsis:
Sent to interview the oldest woman in Thither, Mage Doughball finds a house suspended in time. Tucked between skyscrapers, untouched by progress, and very much not as empty as it first appears.
As creaking floorboards, whispering shadows, and a strangely open diary begin to pile up, Doughball learns that some places don’t stay quiet out of politeness.
He came looking for answers. But some questions ask you back.

Thank you, travellers!
In just five days, Mage With a Mic has crossed 150 journeys into Thither!
Mage Doughball is confused. The Thither Tourism Board is increasingly concerned. And the ports are creaking under the weight of unexpected visitors.
Thank you for listening, sharing, reviewing, and helping this strange little podcast find its first audience.
Thither has so much more to show you- and not all of it is entirely safe.
If you’ve enjoyed the weirdness so far, tell a friend who deserves a slightly cursed trip to a new world.
Stay magical. Stay curious. Stay tuned. And be sure to come back on Thursday to learn the title of Episode 2!
