My other blog, @moss-veins , is on hiatus right now due to something bad happening in my life. I don't have the mental or emotional energy to give my time to replying or writing posts right now. Only mindlessly scrolling through Tumblr to try to distract myself.
I don't want to half ass anything so I'm just going to take a break and return to it whenever the time comes that I feel okay again.
Naruto's biggest character development is going from this:
"I wonder if this is what... siblings are like..."
While he still is truely worried about sasuke's safety, he does try to place sasuke in a self-fulfilling box, and project a specific image onto him based on their interactions.
Meanwhile sasuke says that naruto is "his most closest friend"
To this, years later:
"Sasuke and I really aren't brothers, but I think we can make up"
Where he finally fully understands AND acknowledges out loud to someone that sasuke is a human being separate from what his thoughts constructed sasuke as in the past, (like when he couldn't believe sasuke would join the akatsuki, or attack killer bee,) and gives sasuke the respect and understanding he has deserved and needed all this time. Finally acknowledging that sasuke isn't a brother or a "comrade" or a ninja of the leaf. He's just sasuke and that's enough for them to finally make up.
Meanwhile all these years later, sasuke still says the exact same thing as before: "he is still.. my most closest friend"

people have said it before but like. sasuke genuinely likes listening to naruto blabbering and enjoys his companionship. naruto could be talking about ramen flavours and he’d be “yes, beautiful” (in his own head) and then he would remember the little details, get a coupon to naruto to try the new ramen flavour he wanted to and naruto would be like [anime shiny eyes] “wow i can’t believe you remembered that”. he would be petting naruto’s hair and would notice the areas naruto enjoys the most to give them more attention. he would let naruto play and twirl his bangs and put them behind his ears just because naruto said once he liked to do that. and that’s sasuke’s love language, it’s about the small details, thanks for coming to my ted talk

I think I've made this post before but this was so unnecessary like naruto really just wanted to hold him like there's 100000 other ways he could've gone about this he could've even just left his hands on sasuke back but no not only does he grab his sides but he takes it a step further like "actually no, u know what would be perfect solid support? Being against meeeeee haha 😌 also I'm gonna get my arms around him as much as possible without it being an actual hug. anyways!!"
The two most important people in his life were Iruka sensei and Sasuke, the bond he received unexpectedly and the other he had longed from the beginning.
If you try to threat somebody, the phrase should be 殺すぞ! "Korosu-zo!" I'll kill you! This is just a threat not to intention to do that yet.
If you intended to kill somebody, the phrase should be 殺してやる! "koroshite yaru!" I'm going to kill you!

Another gay media/book where the phrase "You remind me of my brother" didn't suddenly invalidated all the romantic and sexual tension in the relationship. It's just a way for the character to express how highly he regards the main character by comparing them to the most important figure in his life. If you don't know Captive Prince, you should at least know that Damen and Laurent end up together.

@misunderstood-ace yeah exactly!! And coincidentally in both cases the older brother had a somewhat parental role (is that how it's said? lol) in their life because their fathers weren't very close to them. In BOTH cases, the loss of this older brother (bc Sasuke lost Itachi the day of the massacre) shaped them into the person they'd become growing up. And both Sasuke and Laurent fall in love with someone that reminds them of their older brother... I need to stop drawing parallels between Sasuke and Laurent orz

the naruto fandom has a huge number of misinterpretations of characters but acting like sasuke uchiha is a rabid misogynist who just loves hurting women all bc he turned down the affections of girls he wasnt interested in, defended himself against a girl who was trying to kill him and overall treated women no different than the way he treated men around him, while ignoring or excusing the shit ton of times shikamaru "women arent fit to become leaders" nara was actually and blatantly misogynistic, all bc he married a confident woman, is gotta be one of the worst misinterpretations yet
