My most diagnosable take is that honestly. As much as people in social justicey spaces talk about exercising your empathy ... there's also value in being able to turn it off so you're not extremely susceptible to emotional manipulation. I think football should be banned for everyone except lesbians. that's my take. men categorically shouldn't have football and straight women are pretty hit or miss with it (and arguably enabling sometimes). but yeah

on that note, I remember some of my friends (into football and pretty much wll men) reposting stuff complaining about bans against football in public spaces and in schools.

and well I agree that the prohibition of many activities in public spaces harms children and like really sucks. children should not be banned from playing on the streets and stuff, especially since those bans apply to pretty much all activities.

but the whole thing limiting football to one day a week in schools? honestly I really support it. like it's not ideal but I've not seen a better idea presented.

this has been demonstrably better from what I've seen like. even kids get violent with football specifically in a way they don't with anything else. studies found football to take more space than anything else. the sexism both by the school and by the peers is apparent even if getting better. and in general how it dominates recess cascades into everything else.

so like. yeah. fuck football specifically. like less because of itself and more due to the whole horrendous culture around it in most cases. rough
