i've been on tumblr for two years and i still don't know how photosets work
Process work of Koschei. Details in captions. This one shows more of my prep work, whereas Claudia's got all the actual work-in-progress photos.
gonna post a bunch of process pictures, even though i was awful about taking photos this time round ><Ā
India ink, white gel pen.
Based off of Koschei from Deathless, by Catherynne M. Valente.

none of my art has any real substance. like yeah, sometimes my stuff comes out nice and i think, āwow, thatās so pretty!ā, but thatās the extent of itā¦thereās no emotion, no message, no meaning, and iām beginning to realize that and struggle with it in equal measure. this year is the start of portfolio-making and i donāt know what iām going to do, when the best i can manage for a theme with what i have is āportraitsā. weaker than spun glass.
i think my issue is that a portfolio, a sketchbook is supposed to show who i am as a person, each page exploring my emotions and passions....and that's difficult to do when you've got the emotional depth of a puddle

i haven't gotten an official diagnosis just yet, but i'm 98% sure i've developed carpal tunnel syndrome in my right hand, or at least the start of it...not happy with this, like at all
Sketch before bed, gonna try out some new inking techniques on this one
Did some (very) late night painting~
