I’ve been thinking a bit about how Andy’s glamour works, and how supernatural creatures might stay hidden in general, so I’m gonna ramble a bit. Feel free to add on/give input!
I figure that various supernatural beings have to resort to different means to stay hidden depending on the nature of what they are. Vampires look mostly human so they don’t have too hard a time passing, as do werewolves (most of the time anyway). Other creatures, depending on the nature of what they are and level of innate magical power and stuff, would either have to disguise themselves with their own magic, or acquire magic from an outside source to do it.
Magic practitioners (like Willie if I bring her in lol) might be able to infuse a token, like a necklace or a ring, with glamour, and then sell it to creatures who can’t create it on their own. Turning the glamour on or off would just be a matter of taking the token off.
SO getting to Andy, I did some reading on troll mythology and came across this:
Trolls are often said to be able to change their appearance and did so in order to trick humans into doing what they wanted. For example, Trolls may present a beautiful appearance in order to trick a character into following them into their mountain home, then hold the character captive for years.
So I figure Andy’s glamour is innate. He can turn his “beautiful appearance” off and on at will, but mostly keeps it on unless he’s by himself; if he’s in a situation where he really wants to scare someone, especially a human, he’ll go full troll, but this is usually followed by him killing them. However, other supernatural creatures and people with a connection to the supernatural can probably see through the glamour to one degree or another. More powerful creatures (like the vamps probably) can probably see him completely as he truly is. Those with lesser supernatural gifts probably only get glimpses; they might notice he has a tail, for instance, but otherwise see him as human. Werewolves can smell him. He smells like troll.
