the fact that the creator of the dcblackout was essentially bullied out of the boycott just because other people are getting books is disgusting. people said “i don’t care that black characters/writers aren’t getting books because there are gay people getting books” and we’re supposed to act like that’s not insanely racist

I saw that the boycott ended. I still won't be renewing my DCUI subscription, and I still won't be buying anything DC until a Black-led ongoing is confirmed. I'm not telling anyone else what to do (I'm not Black and so my opinion on this issue should not matter to you). This is just to make me feel better, because the insanely quick pivot + the fact that the organizers felt the need to apologize for boycotting a corporation pissed me off.

#I'm not mad at the organizers I'm frustrated and disappointed at everyone else #it's not like I don't get the concerns. I assumed when I first saw the boycott announcement that it was targeted #and upon seeing it was a full boycott decided I wouldn't participate as I wanted to continue supporting black creatives at dc #and THEN thought that wasn't enough and that I'd do the full boycott #and THEN felt bad for che grays0n and decided I'd only buy abso!ute catw0man #and I was going back and forth between the last two when the boycott ended. so I guess it doesn't fucking matter anymore huh #even if you question the methods don't put down the MOVEMENT. SUPPORT THE BLACKOUT EVEN IF YOU'RE NOT PARTICIPATING #people concerned about other minorities like they don't know progress for black people means progress for all of us #black justice is our justice. fucking idiot

Black comic book characters matter and DC already has so many cool ones that they’re squandering and they deserve better. But even more than that, Black comic book *fans* matter. And we deserve better than this.
