Tw: Talks of bad mental state, psychosis, and some mention of suicidal ideation

I’m going to be real. I’m not doing well. It’s not necessarily even just the idea that we don’t know what’s happening with Doctor Who. It’s the fact that people are celebrating or immediately moving on and acting like it’s all okay. Doctor Who’s been my special interest since I was 10 or 11 so yes, it hurts.

Then I start thinking deeper. There’s that post, poem even I think. The one that says you can’t end your life until Doctor Who’s done. So it makes me wonder if this is it. It’s kind of confirmed it’s not but it makes me wonder if it’s some sort of sign.

This is genuinely really affecting me and with multiple disorders I have, I’m at risk for psychosis. And with how I’m reacting to this, I don’t doubt it may happen.

I want you to know that if you think your reaction is “dramatic”. It’s okay. Especially for autistic people like me where it feels like a huge shock to the system. I promise, if you’re gonna be judged by everyone else, I won’t judge you. If you’re feeling like me, seek help or find someone to talk to.

Actual problem I’ve been seeing recently.

It’s sad to see how this fandom has acted since 13 and it’s only getting worse since 15 and the recent season finale.

Can we talk about how people turn disability into some sort of hierarchy?

Like, we’re already often discriminated both intentionally and unintentionally no matter what our situation is unless we hide it like a sick animal. So why do we have this sort of hierarchy?

“Oh, you have POTS? Well I have hEDS and need a cane.” “You have EDS? Well, I have epilepsy and need a service dog.” “Oh, you have seizures? Well I have chronic arthritis and am almost always in a wheelchair because of it and need a medical aid.”

Like, do you want an award or something? Why are we doing this? Just because you’re more visibly disabled doesn’t make someone else less so. We’ve managed to get past most age discrepancies when it comes to disabilities and what they look like but for some reason, we can recognize “minor” and hidden disabilities but also make them another person’s problem.

It doesn’t matter what we do. If you’re visibly disabled, then suddenly you’re a burden. If you have a hidden disability, then you’re lazy. We’ll get called every demeaning thing in the book no matter what so why are we making it competition?

Sorry if this sounds mean but congrats, you got a service dog, do you want a fucking award? Your condition went from needing a cane to a walker. Do you want a prize or something? It’s not a competition. We should be fighting for each other since we’re all part of the same group that faces discrimination. You can have monthly migraines and advocate for someone else to get the wheelchair they need. You can be in the hospital half your life and still tell others that hidden disabilities doesn’t mean someone is lazy.

I just don’t get it. Is it an internalized ableism thing? A fitting in thing? It’s just gross and weirds me out. I assume I’m not alone on this but I guess we’ll see.
