I purchased these two Furbishes together from Japan and was very surprised when they turned out to behave very differently from each other! The one on the left runs what seems to be the typical Furbish programming, while the one on the right seems to run a different version of the programming that I have not seen before with a number of new songs and different sound effects for interactions. The two Furbishes also have some minor differences in appearance, they have different eye chips and different colored ribbons in the battery compartment.

This has gotten me curious about the variety in the behavior among Furby fakes! I know most fakes behave similarly and run “Furbish-type” programming, but it seems that there are several different variants of this programming that can appear in the same fake. I’ve heard of two different versions of the programming referenced before, but they are similar aside from the fact that one speaks Japanese whereas the other does not. This quirky Furbish suggests that there could be even more versions out there, waiting to be discovered!
