Sound Check

Rock just giggles again when he sees Bass wiggling his fingers at him. He pretends to act afraid and hide behind his toolbox. Maybe now he can trick Bass into behaving by distracting him. He peeks above the toolbox to stick his tongue out at Bass before hiding again. His little game goes on a bit until he hears Sharp talking to him again. He looks back at him and nods once he receives the order. “You got it, Boss.” It takes a bit of digging (Sharp’s bag is kinda big and isn’t the most organized) but knowing to look in the “main” section helps Rock find the pliers that matches Sharp’s description. He holds it out to him. “Here you go.” A little snicker escapes him when he takes a good look at Sharp holding the light with his teeth. “Would you like me to hold that?”
Agreed. Forte is aesthetically blind so any physical cuteness is lost on him, but he was still able to pick up on behavioral cuteness, and Rock definitely acted cute. His enthusiasm and optimism was endearing when it wasn’t infuriating.
If Forte could hiss without activating his vocalizer he would. As it stands he’ll have to vent his figurative and literal frustration by hissing through his vents instead. Give him long enough and he might develop new ways of synthesizing sound, probably to the detriment of his other systems.
He can stick his tongue out at Rock, though. And debate on grabbing Sharp’s light with his teeth, but that would require moving more than an inch. What if he swallowed the light? Just shove it down his throat, light things up from the inside.
If Sharp could see the game going on behind him he would also find that adorable; it’s almost a shame he’s missing out. Not that he would admit any willingness to participate even if he knew. The comment of ‘Boss’ gets a preemptive snarl—but no, Rock is only really capable of meaning well.
Sharp’s bag is only organized if you’re Sharp. Things get consistently placed in the same general area, soldering irons on the right and energy canisters on the left, that sort of thing. But ultimately no, it’s just a jumble of things that over the years Sharp has realized he needs in order to stay alive. And now, to keep his reckless friend intact.
Laughing at his methods does get a snarl however, though with the light in his teeth it’s really just showing more teeth momentarily. “Unobstructed light. If you held it you’d either be too close or there’d be a shadow.” The frustration is removed from his gaze as it settles on the tools. “Thanks.”
“Now don’t move. Unless you want to be permanently mute. Or to have to explain this to the old man.” A tiny bit of oil is gathered onto the tip of the pliers, and with extreme caution, inserted directly into Forte’s vocal mechanisms.
