got my fangs sharpened at claireâsÂ
Was just informed by my mom that I do in fact have ADHD and the reason I thought I didnât was because ever since I was seven whenever I got super energetic my mom would have me go chop wood so now when Iâm feeling The ADHD I go chop wood and I thought it was just some sort of routine I started when I was little and wanted to blow off steam
Iâd also like to point out that my sister has a really hard time staying present (I canât remember the term because weâve always called it Tethered at my house) and whenever sheâs feeling Untethered my mom has her knead bread and make syrup because theyâre repetitive and easy things to do that ground her
Now that Iâm thinking about it- my brother has days where he doesnât talk and doesnât eat unless heâs prompted, and on those days my mom sits him down in the fish pond in the backyard and plays Mozart and because heâs so used to that being his wake up he always comes back in after like an hour rambling about random things
Oh yeah and when it rains my mom has a required hour where we all have to go outside and run around and whoever finds the most worms for the garden wins and then we go inside and my mom makes us tea and we watch Studio Ghibli movies
Wait!!! When one of us has a bad day at school we make a fire in the backyard and roast homemade sausages and my mom tells us stories until we laugh and then she tucks is in bed like weâre five again and sings us songs
Uh.... wait guys is my mom a witch raising a bunch of fae kids hold on-
your mom is very definitely a witch raising a bunch of fae kids, please tell her i love her in the abstract way one can love a complete stranger.
Full time work should entitle someone to enough pay for rent, food, bills, and leisure activities. Full time work for a full life wage. You put in your 8 hours a day, 5 days a week? You should be able to afford the basic shit you need in life, no matter where you work.
pisses me off that this is considered a radical statement.
I do agree with this but from economic standpoint if you are working at a job like McDonalds as someone flipping burgers and making fries you are getting paid for the amount of skill needed for the job. But if its any other job that requires you to have an actual skill that you can make a career out of then yeah you should be getting paid enough to live a standard life.
If you work FULL TIME you should be able to afford to fucking live. No, it doesnât matter if itâs flipping burgers, these people contribute to our fucking economy and they MATTER. They should be allowed to be alive.
Jesus fucking Christ do you people hear yourselves?
People like this are why we canât move on to issues like reducing how many hours is full time, or working out UBI. Weâre going to need to do that. Most people just donât know whatâs coming down the pipeline, without a major change to the structure of the economy, weâre looking at large scale permanent unemployment, even in the âskilledâ labor force.
Also? Making food is a fucking skill. Running a fast food kitchen is a fucking skill. Operating a drive-thru is a goddamn fucking skill.
I do not know how to do these things. I have a masters degree and I have no fucking clue how to operate a deep fryer or make coffee drinks. Iâd probably not be very good at it, because that kind of hands-on, fast-paced work is very hard for me.
But thankfully, there are people who are good at it, so I can do my job, and they can do theirs, and we can benefit one another by putting our skills to use in different areas. People who work in fast food are not less deserving of comfort and security in their lives just because their skills arenât valued like they should be. That is a myth developed to deprive people of rights.
My friend works as a medical assistant and Iâve worked at McDonaldâs and Starbucks. You know thereâs a lot of things you gotta learn in this typa job?
Like in addition to it being physically demanding (standing up for 4-6 hours straight, carrying heavy ice/coffee, constantly getting burned by boiling water and an oven, a lot of reaching and squatting (like a lot a lot I lost 40 FUCKING pounds in a year okay this job demands a lot from the body)), there are actual skills required. Also your skin splits from using so much antibacterial soap.
Do you know what temperature different foods have to be to prevent contamination? If itâs a âcoldâ or âhotâ plate?? Do You know how long food can be out before bacterial contamination can happen?? Do you know the difference between say 1% and heavy whipping cream? Can you teach a chemistry class using milk????? Thatâs p much what you gotta learn to be able to do. My friend who works as a medic was surprised, because I do more in my day than they do, and THEY told me that. They were shocked how much I actually do; I am on my feet more, talking to more people, I have a working knowledge of food germs food born illnesses and chemistry, I gotta do the same shit with sterilizing my tools the same exact way a doctor sterilizes theirs. Etc etc.
Thereâs no such thing as an unskilled job. There are only undervalued skills.

if you say âi love youâ a lot it loses its meaning? bitch does the sun lose its light just because it rises every morning?
Okay but imagine the staff at the palace when Zuko takes the throne. Theyâre probably terrified? In their perspective, he was a little rage-filled 13 year old, who got banished, but then came back and was even more angsty than before. The next thing they know heâs gone again, Ozai is declaring himself Phoenix King and Azula is firing half the staff on a whim. But then the formerly-banished-angsty-angry teenage prince just comes back and claims the throne??
Like. Based on the staffâs previous experiences with Ozai and Azula theyâre probably already terrified of the new Fire Lord by virtue of his family alone. Thereâs definitely a rumour going around that Zuko just usurped the throne cause he knew his father would be distracted by the avatar.
And when Zuko is Fire Lord, no one can still get a read on him because he abrupt and short and doesnât seem to appreciate all his staff do. (Cause, you know, after three years on a boat and then wandering through the Earth Kingdom for another few months before camping out with the Avatar, the last thing Zuko needs is someone whose job is to brush his hair for Agniâs sake)
But slowly the staff start to realize heâs just awkward as all hell and has no idea what heâs supposed to be doing, because up until Lu Ten died he was fourth in-line to the throne, and when he was banished he never expected the crown, so now heâs just fumbling around trying to make the world a better place but with no training on how to be the Fire Lord.
And, bit by bit, he starts to win them over. He remembers their names and their birthdays and asks about the guardâs mother and her hydrangeas. He checks in with the maid to see how her daughter is doing in school. He commissions a painting from the server.
In return they start to do little things to make his life easier. (The cook brings in a platter of snacks during a meeting that happens to include Zukoâs favourite food and Fire Sage Hiroâs fire flakes so the old sage isnât as grumpy. His tailor designs clothes in wonderful fire nation colours that are cut differently from Ozaiâs robes so people will stop whispering about how much he looks like his father. The cleaner always puts his notes for the day on top of his desk so he doesnât lose them in his disastrous library.)
And somehow, without really realizing it, they all come to have a fierce respect for Zuko. So much so that when a new servant comes in and is all âhey is it true that Fire Lord Zuko hates turtleducksâ the staff shut that shit down immediately
Breaking the cycle of abuse doesn't always mean "having kids but not abusing them" it can also mean realizing that you aren't and may never be mentally fit to be a parent and making the choice to never have kids because of that. These are both equally valid ways to break the cycle

Employers, banks and other financial institutions already send detailed information to the IRS. The government knows how much you owe in tax. If they wanted to they could send you a tax bill and a form you could fill in to claim back taxable expenses (like travelling for work purposes.) Itâs called Return Free Filing And is used in the majority of countries in the world. The American tax system has been deliberately set up this way so people will engage accountants, tax services, and tax software like TurboTax, because those same companies spent a lot of money lobbying Congress to keep the tax system complicated so they can make more money when you hire their services. Theyâre basically using the money youâre paying them to make sure congress doesnât make your taxes easier.
