âI know of youâŠâ Eros smiles lazily at this. So he mattered even to the departed.
âGossipâ That wasnât a surprise. Even in the human world Eros had generated enough gossip around himself that he was somewhat used to it as time went on. He grew a thick skin to handle it, but he melted just as easily when the talking was good. In fact he thrived on it- soaking it up like a sea sponge whenever he happened to catch wind of it. He was half certain it was the thing that made his skin glow and his eyes shine.
âMmm no..I am,â he yawns and slumps down before sitting up again and blinking rapidly. He laughs and brings his arms overhead as he continues, âUssseless-ah! Excuse me. I am quite useless in the Underworld. But I have always wondered about things down there? Is it down? Is thatâŠ?â Assumptive? Ignorant? A stereotype? His shoulders ease, collarbone sinking forward as he leans his head down. His eyes close for just a second and it feels like thick bliss. NOPE! He snaps them open and shakes it off as discreetly as he possibly can as he rubs at his eye again. Heâs careful not to dislodge the contact that hides itâs unusual color as he does this, not in the mood to explain it if it were to fold on itself and pop out.
âIs more and or less bad than the hell that humans describe? In your opinion I mean,â he asks.Â
Heâs curious. Sure he knows about it, everyone knew about it, but it was a different thing when you lived it everyday. Many things were and people too. So far the man across from him was nothing like some gods and humans made him out to be. Maybe his domain was much like himself- an untapped wonder. The scent of coffee, the warm of the cafe and the easy conversation take their toll.
His ears wait for the answer and he hears the start of it, but itâs not registered to his mind. Inky, sleepy blackness pulls at the edges of his eyes and Eros can feel the shift as he leans down to put his head sideways on the surface of the table. You sound so nice..
From his slightly parted lips is the softest sound, a small sigh as he falls asleep right there listening.
Hades hummed at the question as he finished off his cup of coffee, mentally checking that off on his task for the day. Though his routine was already disrupted, he supposed, by the sleepy god in front of him.Â
âI wouldnât describe it as down, as much as I would around. The underworld is another plane of existence entirely,â he said, as he watched the godâs eyes start to droop, Eros seeming to have some sort of battle with himself about whether or not he should stay awake. He would have been concerned about it if he werenât so amused by the display. If anything, the god was entertaining him so early in the morning.
He wasnât too keen on describing the underworld though, sure that it would put the other to sleep quicker than he currently was. In truth, the underworld had gotten itâs reputation because of the general fear that the public had of death and his opinion, their perception was entirely correct. The underworld was at best, dark and desolate, and at worst, terrifying. Though he supposed, there were ways of making the underworld a great experience, if youâd be a completely virtuous person in your lifetime.
Dragging himself out of his thoughts, his eyebrows nearly shot into his hairline as he noted that the god of desire had, in fact, fallen asleep right on the table. Leaving him in quite the predicament. He could leave him here and go to his store for the day but who knows what trouble a sleeping god could cause. Plus, the position couldnât be the most comfortable.
Fighting against his better judgement, he stood up to help lift the god quite easily, he supposed the rumors about âCupidâ being smaller were true, before starting the walk to the Greek apartments, lamenting the fact that he didnât bring his car for the day.
