One thing I love about steampunk is being able to borrow from classic sci-fi/horror tropes. The glowing vial “macguffin” has a rich history in all form of media but especially movies and television. It’s the item everyone wants, needs, desires and drives the plot forward. It’s the item that cures, bestows immortality, beauty or hidden knowledge on the owner. It’s often green but I’ve bucked the trend and made it with an orange Tritium vial.  It glows constantly, without the need to by “charged” by another light source.  

Putting it in a horizontal position on the body shows all the detail - four brass bars surrounding the glass vial. Each post is threaded on to three brass brackets. The bracket arm is kept in position by small tubes and brass bushings sandwiched together on the bars. On two opposing bars the terminal is a small ball - on the other two rings. The glass vial has two kerned brass sleeves with a shaped silver tone cap and ball finial. The internal stick is wrapped in a fine wire spring to cushion the movement within the vial. Chain is attached at both loop points at each end.
