((so this blog is going to be on an actual hiatus now instead of me just deciding to be tired and ignore things for awhile

basically, i need to figure out how comfortable i feel/if i feel comfortable at all being in this community anymore thanks to the recent Drama™. i don’t think i’ll drop the muse - he’s become very important to me and something i’ve put a lot of time and effort into over the years - but right now, being in the actual yogrp community is something that’s going to require more thought. it has nothing to do with the community itself and everything to do with the company(see: certain people and the abysmal way theyre behaving towards victims), but right now i really don’t feel okay associating myself with them in any way. we’ll see.

[ Ah yes, the lizard. One of the newest additions to the Blackrock family.. sort of. A recent exploration trip with your friend/rival William Strife had lead to the discovery of a young, teal-colored lizard in the wilderness. Of course, being the obnoxiously stubborn man that he was, Strife insisted on taking it home for “studying” purposes.

Of course, since you and him were equally involved in finding the creature,.. you immediately gained a good 50% of the responsibility of pet ownership. Yay.

After much debate, the agreed upon name was Duchess Snapdragon. A fitting name, considering it tried to eat your herbal supply of snapdragons, then proceeded to slap your hand away with the tip of its tail.

Strife takes her home on occasions, but she lives in your camp for most of the time. You don’t know much about caring for lizards, but she seems content to sunbathe on top of your desk.. and not much else. 

So far so good. ]

[ It’s William Strife. Snobby, arrogant, narrowminded, disrespectful, micromanaging, and obnoxiously clean. All of the qualities and character traits you disliked, conveniently compiled into one person. 

How he managed to even stay alive on a planet like this, you had no idea. Surely his fragile limbs would have ultimately shattered by now, along with his fragile ego.

Unfortunately, he never stops talking about his “amazing”, “successful” business. You can’t help but wonder how anyone with a personality like that could manage to keep a business partner for longer than five minutes, much less run any sort of business venture. Nor have you actually seen any proof of the fame and fortune he bragged so much about.

Still, he makes for decent company. He’s trustworthy enough, and has the common sense not to spill your secrets to any prying souls. His determination, intense work ethic, and passionate commitment to his beliefs could only remind you of.. yourself. Not that you would say that out loud, of course.

You supposed he even counted as a friend, ever since you saved his life that one time. And as infuriating as William Strife could be.. friends were hard to come by these days. You would have to make the best of his companionship.

You wished he would stop sending you crickets, though. What sort of person would ever want to eat these? ]

At first you didn’t know what to think of him. He seemed harmless, but that coat would’ve had to have been pried out of cold dead hands, and it made you sick and angry to think about it. Which you did. You thought about it a lot. It took some serious self control not to do something irrational. But to his credit, after awhile he seemed to take the scowling and glaring as a hint that he shouldn’t wear it, and your opinion of him improved greatly.

And really, he isn’t that bad now that you’ve gotten to know him(despite his taste in outerwear). You might even go so far as to say you’re fond of the kid. For some strange reason, he does his best to take care of you and Rythian, so you try and return the favor once in awhile. 

You’re all in this mess together, after all.

> Here’s someone who clearly knows what he’s doing. He dresses fancy, holds himself to high social standards, and is Totally Mentally Stable. Surely no one could resist the sophisticated professional charm this businessman holds and see past his façade that in reality without all the masks he wears he’s really just tired and lonely after hundreds of years of losing the ones he loved and resorts to drugs to help cope. Yikes.He doesn’t seem to like that purple coat you were pretty sure was yours, and seems much more comfortable when you don’t wear it at all. He’s also a bit stiff around the dog you got him, but surely he’ll warm up to the thing!

> Honestly, this guy’s just a massive prick.

Maybe once you might have been persuaded to not begrudge him for stealing your friend away from you. But then there came the (gross) blood magic. And the (scummy) business-ness. And the (admittedly, kind of fun) arguments.

It doesn’t help that he somehow manages to look smart and as dignified as an arsehole can look while wearing the most ridiculous shoes you’ve ever had the misfortune of wearing. 

So, anyway, yes. He’s an asshole, plain and simple. Nothing can change this fact, and you don’t plan on doing anything about it. Well, except arguing more, once summertime comes and you stop feeling so damned mellow.

Martyn Littlewood - apprentice stealing tree-hugger extraordinaire. You’d call him your arch-enemy, your nemesis, maybe something equally dramatic like that, but that’d be giving him too much credit. Frankly, he’s just an environmentally friendly pest. 

You don’t actually see him that much, but whenever you’re met with his irritating face, you know it’s far too soon. If you had things your way.. well, let’s say you’d get rid of him and ‘his’ forest altogether(you’re not actually convinced he owns the thing, you’ve never seen the deed). But considering you’re involved in a ‘no arson’ agreement, it’d look bad if you went back on your word without a well-written contract to find a loophole in.

Oh, well. You can dream.

Examine! Rythian

> Not much to look at, if you’re being honest.

If you took a skinny, ragged, and particularly angry cat, drenched it in water and then stuck it in a wind tunnel to dry, mocked it for awhile, then maybe gathered a group of other cats and starting feeding them tuna in front of your stray - making sure it got none despite waiting and hoping for scraps - it would come close to achieving the look Rythian is currently going for. Bonus points if you put the cat in a mask and got it to start monologuing.

Basically, he looks like shit, but that’s nothing new. You doubt he’s seen the inside of his eyelids in the past month, and you’ve been considering ways to force him to eat a solid meal(because you don’t care if he has a lifestone, people need food). What a pretentious asshole.

Rythian’s one of your closest friends at the moment, which probably says more about your bad taste in people than you’re willing to admit. Especially considering you spend more time arguing and fighting him than doing anything remotely friendly, which also probably says more about you..

Even so, you like to think you get each other. You’ve told him some personal things you probably should not have, done things you definitely should not have, and he still likes you well enough. Even if he does think your opinions on everything are wrong and that you should feel ashamed about having them.

That’s just friendship, you guess.

Examine! Work Table

> It’s... well. It’s certainly a work table. You’ve got a sort of ‘organized chaos’ system going on in your little studio, and the table full of clutter is no exception. While every other room in the tower is pristine and kept organized, you let that one run free for ‘creative purposes’.

Old projects and misplaced ideas litter the surface of the table, all waiting for you to find a spare moment to tinker and sketch. You vow you’ll get back to it any day now, but.. well. The life of a solutionist is a busy one.

Back where I came from, there was a ‘system’ for how things worked- one small thing that determined your place in the world, what your life was like and how you were treated. 

If you were lucky, you could end up being treated like royalty- or even be royalty. If you weren’t so lucky- you’d probably be looked down on, left in the dirt, and expected to either become a soldier and die as cannon fodder, or labor your days away until you pass away. 

It was all in the blood. You were expected to fit into whatever role your blood color had for you, and-- Well. Let’s just say with green blood, I wasn’t lucky with the systematic-life-lottery.
