Val accepted his explanation and nodded her head.  “I missed that.  Those girls owe their lives to you.”  She gave him a small appreciative smile.  “Alright. so where are we going now?” 

“No where. This is the church.” Jamie said as he looked around the room. “He would be attracted to a priest who might sympathize with his predilections. A rapist to absolve him of his sins. They would both speak of how thye wish to make the dirty clean once more. Like they believe the forgiveness of Father is in their cocks and cum.”

Val shook her head.  “Whatever you say.  But seriously, how did you know about the priest. You saved those girls.”  

Jamie tried to think of what he could say to make Valandra believe him. “One of the girls flinched when he went to touch them. It wasn’t hard to guess after that.”

Val cuffed the priest and a black and white cop car showed up to take him in.  Once the officers took the priest away, Val walked back out to Jamie.  “What happened to you back there.  I’m surprised you didn’t want to take a part in having the father arrested.”

“Men like him are why God has left Heaven.” Jamie growled as he stared the man down. Then he sighed as he looked back over at Valandra. “I can’t explain it really. But I couldn’t go in.”

Val gave the priest a look of disgust and fury.  “Yeah you’re going to get one.  And you’re going to need one.  Hands up, on your head, interlace your fingers.”  She moved towards him still holding the gun and waiting for him to comply.  “Girls, I need you all to go back outside.  Sit in a pew together.”  

The priest put his hands on his head just like he was told to do. 

Jamie growled as he saw the priest just giving up. Fucking coward. He would have to get Maze out to kill that fucker when he made bail. No way that he was going to allow him to live another day.

Val didn’t ask for anymore proof.  She called for backup even as she went back into the church and into the sunday school room.  She drew her gun when she saw the priest with his hand under one of the girl’s dress.  “Get away from her, now.”  She said in a cold deadly voice.  

Jamie watched on with pride and jealousy brewing in his chest. He was so proud that he had chosen a woman like her. But he wished he could punish the priest.

The priest cried out when he was finally caught and held his hand. “I-I want a lawyer.”

Val shook her head at him.  “How do you know that?  Did somebody tell you this?”  She was already getting her phone out to call for backup.  

“If you don’t hurry he’s going to take those young girls into their class for the next hour.” Jamie growled as he watched those young girls gathering around the priest. It disgusted him. How could Father allow a man like that into his “house” but he, a former angel, was not allowed in?

Val turned to say something to Jamie and found that he wasn’t besides her.  That was odd.  She frowned but turned back to the priest.  “I understand, er, father.  Here’s my card if you think of anyone with that description, and please warn the women in your… congregation to be careful walking home at night.  Thank you for your time.”  She looked around once more and then left.  “What the hell?  I turn around and you were just gone.”  

Jamie didn’t find anyone in the church that fit their description, but that priest in there... “That priest is molesting little girls.” He said as soon as Valandra came over to join him. Then he smirked at her while coming up with an excuse as to why he couldn’t come into the church. “I was trying to see who would react to a cop being in the building. Nothing suspicious.”

Val got out of the car as he parked.  “It’s my job, Hayes.”  She headed into the church, keeping an eye out for anything that made her instincts flare up.  She flashed her badge at the priest or whatever they called a man in his position.  “We’re looking into the recent murders in this area.  We believe the suspect might be somebody who failed to be a priest.  Maybe somebody who attends multiple sermons a week, anybody match that description?” 

Jamie tried to enter the church but his whole body started to burn when he tried to enter. Fucker. Father just had to continue to mess with him in this way. Now he couldn’t even protect his woman from a deranged man. Oh well. He could work his powers from out here. Taking a deep breath, he focused all of his energy on finding the person with the most frayed desires.

“I plan for the both of us to dominate Valandra together. To string her up with beautiful rope and take turns using her body for our pleasures. Then we’ll press in together and fulfill her naughtiest fantasies.”

Val frowned at him.  “I’m the detective, Mr. Hayes.  You’re the one who’s just consulting.  You don’t jump into danger.  You can come in, poke around with me, maybe ask some questions, but if the shit hits the fan, you take cover and let me handle it.  I’m the one with the gun.”

Jamie gave Valandra his best chastising look at how she was trying to protect him. “I do not need a gun to take down a suspect. People just tend to do what I want them to anyway.” Then he looked her up and down as he parked. “Do not put yourself into any unnecessary danger, Valandra.”

Val gave Jamie a dirty glare but settled back in the seat and leaned her head against the headrest with a soft sigh.  “When we get to the church, let me do all the talking.  You’re just a civilian consultant, not a police officer.  Let me do my job.”  

“I’m not going to leave you in total danger. Besides, there is no one that can provoke a psychopath like me.” Jamie grinned then stepped on the gas pedal to get them there faster.

Val let out an exasperated huff of air.  But at this point it would take longer to argue than it would to just get in his car and let him drive.  She got into the car and whipped the seatbelt on with annoyance.  “Happy now?  And like I would ever say that.”  

“Good girl.” Jamie said as he got in himself then started to drive them to Saint Catherine’s Catholic church.
