Did some research on x-ray forensics for a graduate applied x-ray course, because I have exactly one (1) personality trait, and let me tell you:

Holy shit. Whenever Bruce or Dick or Tim or whoever yapped about their investigation findings, I always used to think it was kind of ex machina bullshit. It still is a little. But the specificity and detail of modern technology is INSANE.

You can detect as little as like half a microgram per cm^3 of gunshot residue from simple x-ray fluorescence techniques, down to differentiating between leaded and unleaded bullets.

There’s an entire database of diffractograms for different textiles based on the width of their Bragg angles. It was made by the FBI and stupidly easy to use if you have the tech.

You can differentiate the species of bioapatite cremains based on the fucking lattice constant it makes when it melts. You can tell a bird from a reptile from grandpa in your urn. You can even tell the type of bone, like a tibia from a femur, and you can glean information even from highly diluted substances.

Idk it’s very neat 10/10. Wish some Detective Comics issue would have Bruce pull out one of those portable XRF machines.

I also kinda wonder what Metamorpho would look like under one of those, because it’s dependent on excitation of inner shell electrons for different elements. Bro can shift his matter. He could absolutely become a disco ball.
