Images from the TV special, Don’t Eat the Pictures: Sesame Street at the Metropolitan Museum of Art (1983).   The Sesame Street gang gets locked inside the Met and spends the night there,  as Big Bird helps out an Egyptian prince who is stuck on Earth due to a curse placed on him by a demon, James Mason (image 3).

I fell in love with this film as a kid. I mean really in love, up to the point I couldn’t stop thinking about it. It was aired during Easter one afternoon, I remember we went to my grandparents afterwards and all I could think about was this film: the echoing footsteps in the empty halls of the museum, the glowing evil demon, the shaggy monsters and the finely chiselled statues—everything. It’s a great film.
