Subaru Legacy RS

This is my blog following the resurrection of this very rare Legacy RS. It is a UK import as they were never officially distributed here.>> The car has stood under the trees for 5 years & was buried in leaves which had fallen each Autumn. Although the car was started & run occasionally, the thing never moved an inch in all that time. So with corroded, seized on brakes, the work begins . . . . . . .

Then off to the Autocentre for a 4 wheel alignment 👌

Repaint the front grill red to provide a subtle hint to the STi upgrade 😜

And adding some extra detail to reflect the STi suspension upgrade 😊

Slightly out of place because it failed to upload before. Shows the progress of the brake disc Shields.

Rejuvenating the side skirts & mudflaps. Re-secured with new stainless steel fasteners. Nice to see how stiff the chassis is now with the STi suspension fitted. 😆

And just for fun, & because the wife liked it . . . .

Prior to the MOT test, I renovated the nasty looking windscreen wipers & fitted new aero wipers all around.

Finally, each corner was reassembled. New Mtec drilled & grooved discs fitted, braided hoses connected, & braking system filled with high boiling point racing formula brake fluid.

The reluctor rings & the hub assembly were given the chemical kurust treatment too.

The disc splash guards were in a bit of a state, so they also had the 5 star refurb treatment.

Properly refurbed with new caliper seal kit & uprated braided brake hoses fitted. 😆

Calipers painted with the proper Hycote caliper spray paint. Four good coats applied.

Cleaning up the calipers, & treating them with Kurust anti rust treatment, prior to painting.

The discs were very rusty & pitted. Especially where the pads had stuck solid to them. Although they hadn't had much wear, & would probably skim up quite nice, I decided to replace them with a superior uprated set.

Next, the rusty, seized calipers had to be removed.

All reassembled & springs fitted.
