Chapter Summary: Our reader prepares for a date, but will the pack's behaviour get in the way?
Chapter Warning: In pack fighting if that's a warning? Steve getting a bit lustful.
Steve leaves after super. The pair of you sharing the various salads, potatoes, meats, cheese and bread that the pack had filled the basket with. There’s a homemade tiramisu that you’re told is Wanda’s creation, which Pietro is apparently insistent he’s helped with. Steve raises his eyebrows when you moan obscenely at how good it is.
There’s another heavy make out session that starts with stollen kisses as you tidy up and ends with you on the counter and your alpha forcing himself to pull away.
You part ways at the front gate, another exchange between your lips.
As Steve leaves looking happy and a little smug, you call after him. When he turns you don’t meet his eyes.
“Are you sure?”
“I’m sure ‘mega.” He tells you.
You smile at him still a little unsure but turn and make your way back inside the cottage. Your nose picks up that Bucky is near and you feel another pair of eyes on you besides Steve but don’t look back.
You turn off the lights and head to bed, thoughts of your alpha running through your mind. He mind links to you as you drift off to sleep, wishing you a goodnights sleep.
The next morning after you’ve showered and wandered around the cottage cleaning and putting away laundry, a flurry of scents hit your nose and after a little wait, there’s a knock at the door. It’s light and your nose tells you it’s Clint and Laura’s pups.
When you pull open the door, there’s a squeal of excitement.
“Momma, she answered!” The little girl, you know to be Lila squeals looking behind her.
You follow her glance and see Laura, Wanda and Natasha coming up the path, the latter carrying a large cool bag.
“Lila honey, you can’t just dump your brother on the ground like that.”
Lila is flanked by her brothers. The older one, Cooper, smiles at you shyly. Another little happy squeal leads you to Nathanial, who Lila had seemingly set down on the floor. You scoop him up and he’s quick to nuzzle into you.
“It seems someone knows who their Luna is already.” Natasha says fondly as she ruffles his hair.
You invite them all in and ask Laura if it’s okay that you’re holding her baby.
“Of course it is. Although I’m a little jealous that he got to greet you first.” She tells you, before pulling you into a hug, holding you as much as she can whilst you hold Nathanial.
There’s something about the way she hugs you. You’re not sure if it’s her scent or just the warmth of her hug, but it feels just as a mother’s should. It brings a lump to your throat. Laura pushes the hair from your face and looks you over like she’s checking you’re okay.
“Hello Luna.” She says her softly. She hugs you again and doesn’t let go until you feel little hands join the hug. Lila has wrapped herself around your leg and Cooper around your back.
“Hello little ones.” You say.
“She’s so pretty Mama.” Lila tells Laura, before turning back to you. “I wished on a star for you.”
“What do you mean little one?” You ask, as she looks up at you.
“I wished on a star. When Santa came, I wished for Uncle Steve to be happy.”
“Oh.”
“Well it looks like your wish is worked.” Wanda says, stepping forward, she strokes Lila’s hair before her eyes meet yours. “Hello Luna.”
“Hello to you too sister.”
You reach for her with your free hand and she hugs you the best she can around the children.
“Okay maybe we should let Luna breathe.” Laura says, making them pull away.
“Mama can we eat now?” Cooper asks.
“We’ve brought a picnic.” Natasha tells you, lifting the cool bag.
“And he’s wanted to eat it since eight o’clock this morning.” Laura adds.
“Well let’s have this picnic then.” You say ruffling Cooper’s hair.
You spend the next couple of hours sitting in the cottage’s back garden eating the picnic Laura and Wanda have made, and playing with the children. Small talk is exchanged but soon leads to Steve.
“So I hear you have a date tomorrow night.” Natasha says casually, like she’s not digging for information.
“Yes Natasha. Steve and I have a date.” You reply matter of factly. “What else would you like to know?”
Wanda and Laura both snort with laughter at your forwardness, clearly already used to Natasha and her ways.
“Do you have something to wear?”
“Yeah, I think so.”
“Because if you don’t we could go shopping this afternoon.”
“I have something.” You tell her, thinking about the outfit you’d already thoughtout in your head.
“We could still go shopping.”
“I can’t this afternoon. I’m going to see Storm and the baby.”
Natasha huffs as Laura teases her about not being able to interfere.
As you say your goodbyes a little later, there’s a waft of scents coming from near the path, and your white wolf ears pick up growls.
The women at your side sigh and Cooper curls into his mother side.
“Mama, they’re fighting again.”
“Who is?” You ask, taking a sniff. There are so many scents mixed in, some you don’t know yet, that it’s hard to pick out who is fighting with who. “Sam’s upset. Oh and Bucky and Steve are….”
You pause as Steve mind links to you.
Omega, can you keep the pups up there whilst I deal with these idiots.
Of course Alpha. Do you need Natasha down there?
No, keep the little ones distracted as much as you can please.
You kneel down to Cooper and Lila, who are now both wrapped around their mother. Wanda holds Nathanial, whose head is buried in her neck.
“Why don’t we all go back into the cottage and watch a movie on Uncle Tony’s big, fancy TV. I can magic up endless popcorn and we can make a den with some blankets. My broom loves to help with dens.”
They both nod shyly and you guide everyone back inside. With a den made and the TV playing, you, Laura and Natasha gather at the kitchen island whilst Wanda watches the children in the den.
“How often is it happening? The others fighting like that?” You ask.
“Every few days.” Laura says sipping on a cup of coffee. “They need a luna.”
You raise your eyebrows in response.
“You know she’s right.” Natasha adds. “They need someone that’s firm but’ll also listen, and put them on their ass when they need to.”
“Well if they upset the kids again, they’ll be on their ass and up a tree.”
They go on to tell you more about the pack, and the rough edges that set everyone on edge. Most of it stems from Carol and Sam, but then there’s Bucky and Sam, with a the latter trying to be a shoulder to lean on and the first saying he doesn’t need it. Wanda pokes her head out from the den and adds they’ve been much better since you’ve been around. A common interest found in taking care of you and making sure Steve doesn’t mess it up. Carol and Natasha also come to blows more than they should Laura tells you, causing Natasha to shrug nonchalantly. Thor will ask repeatedly if Loki can visit even if the answer is usual no, although that seems to be a story for another day.
The afternoon moves on, and your omega rolls forward as Steve comes up the path. You can still smell the annoyance and anger on him from whatever has happened, along with the scent of the others.
You meet him near the front steps.
“Omega.” He says pulling you firmly and scenting your head. You attempt to pull away but he holds you tightly. “No, need you.”
“Steve. Listen to me for a second.” When he starts to nibble at your jaw your wolf takes a step and your voice turns firm. “Alpha.”
He stops and looks at you.
“Shit. Sorry sweetheart. My alpha, he needs you to help calm down.”
“I know but you reek of anger, yours and the others. The kids were unsettled Alpha.”
He kisses your head and holds you tightly.
“I know. Are they okay?”
You nod, explaining that they are tucked into a den with a movie.
“I know what it’s like to have a childhood when you’re scared and on edge, and I won’t have that here in the pack Alpha.”
“Nor will I ‘mega. Clint’s just lost his shit with the others too.”
“Good.”
You stay in his arms for a moment as he calms down and you soon find you’re purring at each other.
Steve agrees for you to cleanse him with a spell and then scent him to so not to risk the kids getting upset again. You also shoot a spell down the path to clear any lingering scents from the fallout.
As the others ready the kids to leave Steve pulls you to one side and kisses you firmly.
“Can I see you later?” He whispers in your ear.
“You’re seeing me tomorrow.”
“You’re gonna make me wait?”
“I’m going over to see Storm and the baby remember? I'm already late.” Steve huffs in reply. “You should probably keep an eye on your idiots anyway.”
“They’re going to be your idiots too.” You roll your eyes in response, before he kisses you again. “A nightcap then?”
“Maybe, if they behave.”
“They better.” He purrs in your ear. You kiss him again and you pull away as his hands wander, reminding him that the kids are nearby.
Sure enough when you return late into the evening Steve is sitting on the deck of the old house, just like he has the last week.
He saunters over, a cocky grin on his face.
“Alpha.”
“Omega.” He replies.
Your lips soon find his and he carries you into the cottage.
The next day, when it's far too late to be going out shopping you realise your outfit is very much not okay.
Maybe you've watched Pretty Woman too many times, but you're pretty such you look like you could be an extra in the movie right now, and not the scene at the races.
Sure you look sexy but it's a little step too far. You're memory drifts to another time you'd worn this outfit. Billy had whistled, Frank had looked at you briefly over the paper he was reading and told you to change.
"You'll start a damn riot. Throw some jeans on."
Billy had argued they were jeans and Frank had argued back that cut off denim shorts with your ass hanging out did definitely not count as jeans. You'd changed and Frank had kept you at his side all night.
Now looking in the mirror, you could see what he meant. The white bodysuit pushed up your chest and pulled in your waist, and the shorts made your ass look like you could earn money from it. The two together with 'the boots', were a combination that would quite possibly lead to Steve getting into a fight and you being pregnant.
A text to Storm with a photo is quickly replied to with a bunch of peach emojis, and that you might give Steve a heart attack. She says to send options but once her responses slow and then come to a stop, you realise she must have fallen asleep.
So you decide to rope in your nosey new friend.
Y/N: I need help
Natasha: With?
Y/N: My outfit. Do you have a minute to come up here?
Y/N: Please. Bring Wanda.
Natasha: I thought you had something?
You can practically smell the sarcasm.
Y/N: Now, is not the time to be a know-it-all Natasha. I look like a hooker and I don't want to embarrass Steve.
Y/N: It's fine, I'll call Jean.
Natasha: We're on our way. Laura and Carol are coming too.
It doesn't take long for their scents to drift up the path, the one you don't know you guess is Carol and her scent is soured. Natasha and Steve had both already warned you of the issues between Sam and Carol. Sam had been dating Maria, when the pack met Carol, and it soon became clear that she was part of the pack. She was also Maria's mate and what followed had been messy and complicated. They'd been at each other's throats since. Along with Laura's words, Steve had also warned you during your supper that Natasha and Carol would also snap at each other on occasion, with the female alphas vying for rank.
You hear Carol before you see her.
"I don't know why I need to be here for this." You hear her say.
"We're helping our luna pick an outfit for a date with our alpha." You hear Wanda reply.
"Well, I'm not sure why I need to be here why you all play dress up." Carol huffs.
"You're here to so you can introduce yourself to our luna." Natasha replies.
"Maybe she should get up of her ass and come and introduce herself to us."
"Watch your mouth!" Natasha snaps.
Wrapped in a robe, you use your magic to silently open the door and a cloaking spell so they can't see you. Laura has her hands on her hips and shakes her head in a disappointment, as if she's watching her children bicker. Wanda looks around and clearly picks up that you're somewhere nearby but can't place you. Natasha and Carol go back and forth and start to square up to each other.
"Why would she come down and meet us when she didn't know what was happening between her and Steve? Or should she just wander down to watch you and Sam go at each other again?"
"You've all been babysitting her for days. It's obsurd."
"You don't know shit about her." Natasha snarls.
"No, because all you all do is whisper and you don't tell me or Maria shit. So what, she sits up here like a princess and you babysit her? Make her dinners? Is she a child?" Carol spits almost venomously.
You take that moment to stand directly at the side of Carol and drop the cloaking.
"No, I'm a witch with a tragic backstory."
She jumps away from you and let's out a yelp, tripping over her feet in the process. To say she was in the military, you're surprised by how she reacts, that's until she rights herself and steps back towards you. Was she going to swing or challenge you, or both? Either way you know as luna that you need to stand your ground.
When she takes another step you growl deep and dangerous. It reminds Natasha of that night in the woods.
You lean towards Carol who's eyes are wide and you snap your jaws at her. Her head lowers in submission and then she's pulled away from you.
More scents waft up your nose and there's another deep growl, only this time it's not from you. Bucky's broad shoulders block your view and his metal arm reaches around and lands on your robe covered thigh.
You glance to your left and see Natasha has pulled Wanda behind her. Clint is now also there with Laura behind him.
"DON'T YOU EVER CHALLENGE OUR LUNA AGAIN!!" Bucky snarls. "YOU SO MUCH AS LOOK AT HER WRONG AND I WILL END YOU! DO YOU UNDERSTAND!"
Carol whimpers in response.
"THAT'S NOT AN ANSWER! DO YOU UNDERSTAND?"
"Yes Beta." She says in a whisper.
"Pietro, get her out of here before I do something I won't regret."
You look around Bucky's shoulder to see Pietro manhandle Carol from the floor. She goes to pull away from his grip but his growl soon stops her.
"Carol" You call after her. "You try that shit again, you upset the kids with your behaviour or cause anymore upset in the pack, and you'll meet the wolf and the witch in me fully. Do you understand?"
"Yes Luna." She replies, her back to you.
You nod at Pietro and he leads her down the path, shooting you a wink as he goes. Bucky's eyes don't leave them until they're out of sight, his back straight and his scent full of pure anger and rage.
Natasha speaks first.
"Beta?"
"I'm fine." Bucky replies firmly. "I just need a minute."
For the first time, and the second time for Wanda, you mind link to the others stood with you.
Can you give us a minute please?
They nod and follow your request, with Natasha and Wanda heading into the cottage, and Laura and Clint going back down the path to check on the kids.
Bucky stands as though he's been frozen, hand still gripping your thigh.
"Beta."
He responds with a sigh.
"I'm sorry Luna, but I can't have her challenge you like that."
"Beta."
"I know you can handle yourself."
"Beta. I'm not mad." You tell him as you wrap your arms around him.
He let's out a sigh but it's different to the one a few moments before. That sounded like disappointment, this one feels like your arms around him are helping him calm down.
"What happened is probably my fault. I cloaked myself and snook up on her. Her and Nat were squaring up to each other and she started to talk shit about me. The others have mentioned that she's being a problem. I was trying to give her a little lesson."
"Good. She needs to know here damn place. You could of shot a spell at her and she still shouldn't have stepped up to you like that." Bucky growls.
You loosen your hands from around his waist to stand in front of him. The breeze picks up as you do and blows his hair across his face. You push it back, and place your hand over his unclaimed bond on the crook of his neck. His hands find your waist.
"Do you need help to calm down?" He doesn't answer immediately, and his face flickers with something you can't quite place. His scent sours. "Beta? Do you need..."
He pulls away from you abruptly.
"You shouldn't be so familiar with me." He snaps.
"Excuse me?"
"The touching, and calling me Beta. I'm not your beta yet! And I've seen how you look at me, when you think I'm not looking." He snarls.
Your wolf snaps forward.
"Beta. Watch your tone with me."
Bucky's eyes go wide, like he's shocked with himself.
"Y/N, Luna, I'm sorry. I don't know what happened. I'm sorry." He blurts out, before bolting back down the path.
I was tagged by @mariisawsume123 to write something fluffy!!!!
I’ve never done fluff before! I’m all slow burn and back story so here it goes……
P.S. I saw this chicken story on Facebook this morning and cried so this has come from that. Apparently I do have a heart after all.
This is an Avengers AU and a/b/o, they are a pack and in my head some served or grew up together.
Hint of possible friend to lovers............Alpha Steve Rogers x Omega Reader x Alpha Bucky Barnes
It's also Infinity War looking Cap and Bucky.
Here comes the fluff one shot.............
You were wrapped up in possibly the fluffiest and softest robe ever made, with matching fluffy socks on your feet. You were surrounded by pillows and had a blanket across your lap.
You were situated in the corner of Steve and Bucky’s huge u-shaped couch. You could hear Bucky humming in the kitchen, insistent on making you another healthy snack. You’d been doom scrolling since he’d left your side. You came across a viral, probably not real post, about someone’s grandparents and found yourself get overly emotional reading it. The latest episode of whatever Real Housewives you were watching now faded into the background.
“Sweetheart?” Steve’s voice startled you as he approached the couch. “What’s wrong? Are you getting cramps again?”
You shook your head. You looked away from him, embarrassed by your tears.
“I was just reading something about someone’s grandparents and chickens and it set me off.”
“Oh honey.”
Steve slotted himself down at your side and pulled you into his lap. You leaned against him, your head on his shoulder as he rubbed his bearded chin against the top of your head to sooth and scent you.
“Tell me about it, what did it say?”
“A woman said her grandma was sick right? And she liked watching the neighbour’s chickens out the window but then the neighbour couldn’t afford them anymore so he was gonna have to give them away, but the grandpa paid for the chickens feed and stuff so the grandma could still watch them. He did it for years, just to keep her happy. Is that what it’s like?”
“What do you mean honey?”
“Is that what loves like? You pay for someone else’s chickens because they like watching them,”
Steve couldn’t help but smile at your question.
“Well Omega, I think love means a lot of different things for different people. Sometimes it’s the obvious things, like hugs and kisses and being held like I’m holding you now, and sometimes it’s remembering someone’s favourite takeout or how they like their coffee. Clint takes Laura a coffee every morning before the kids wake up. Natasha makes sure Bruce takes a break and eats a healthy lunch everyday. Carol and Val go out for a drive at least once a week just the two of them, and Vision and Wanda, well they’re building the house together.”
You hummed into Steve’s chest.
“Do you want some chickens sweetheart?”
You gasped and sat up.
“I’ve always wanted chickens, and a coop, and some ducks!!” You told him excitedly.
“Then I’ll get them for you. Bucky can build the coop, give him something to do, keep him out of trouble.”
Bucky appeared at the mentioning of his name with a tray in his hands. There’s a tea for you, a coffee each for him and Steve, and a fruit bowl, which you guess is for you too. You really didn’t know how these two were single after they’d taken such good care of you.
He grabs the tea towel that’s over his shoulder and places it over his arm, as he pretends to be a butler and passes you the fruit.
“My lady.”
You laughed and took the bowl from him. In between bites you started to ask questions.
“How would it work though? Would you keep them here? How often could I visit? It’s a long trip from the city. I like it up here though, maybe I should move. Be nearer so I can still meet Wanda for coffee. Would you mind if I was nearer? I know I’m nuisance and I know you prefer if random people aren’t hanging around the pack. How often could I visit the ducks and chickens? Maybe I could keep a duck in my apartment like Joey in friends, what do you think?”
“That’s a lot of questions sweetheart.”
“Sorry.” You said looking down at the bowl. Your family had hated when you asked lots of questions.
“No need to be sorry.” Steve told you, as Bucky took the now empty bowl from your hands.
“Come here ‘mega.” Steve told you as he pulled you back into his chest. You don’t see the look they exchange.
“You could see them everyday honey, and yes, our pack is closed off but I know Buck and I like having you here with us, so do the others.”
You hummed into Steve’s chest again. You thought about the last few days. How you’d passed out in bed with suppressant sickness. You’d completely forgotten that taking the emergency shot would alert Wanda, your alpha friend and former roommate, via text. An hour later her and Clint were breaking in your front door as Pietro and Bucky came in via the window and fire escape. You’d stirred in the backseat of Steve’s truck bundle in your duvet, firmly secured in Bucky’s arms as Wanda watched you from the passenger seat.
“You’re ok Y/N, we’re taking you up to the pack compound.”
“Don’t wanna be any trouble.” You’d murmured.
Bucky had kissed you on your head as Steve had assured you that you weren’t any trouble and that he and Bucky would be looking after you.
Wanda, Nat and Laura had helped you shower and change as Bucky had paced. Once he’d been told you were decent, he’d lifted you into his arms and put you into his den. You’d slept in the alpha's arms for twelve hours. You’d woken up briefly, eaten, and then fell asleep in Steve’s arms for another six hours. The days that came made you feel cared for and loved. The pack had checked in and helped too. Sam had brought you fried chicken. Pepper had brought you some very expensive bath products and Laura, Nat and Wanda seemed to be on rotation to help you shower. Carol and Val had snook you some chocolate, only for Tony to try and out do them with a more expensive selection.
When it was just the three of you, it was domestic, comfortable and it felt like you were exactly where you needed to be. It felt like home.
Steve read to you for an hour each day, your feet in his lap as you either dozed or watched the way his lips moved. You’d fought the urge to kiss them each time. Bucky would light a fire after lunch, worried about you feeling the cold. He’d tie his hair back with one of your scrunchies when he threw in the logs because it made you laugh. You’d do jigsaw puzzles together and watch black and white movies. You’d curl up together under the blanket that was now very much yours. Bucky always waited for you to invite him in. Wrapped in his arms and his hands on you made you feel settled and drove you crazy all at the same time. You’d never felt this adored and wanted by anyone. Being so well taken care of by two beautiful alphas made your heart flutter.
As Bucky fixed your blanket you drifted off to sleep against Steve’s chest for the third time in a week you wondered…..is this love?

Summary: Bucky and Steve have known they were soulmates since they were children. Fate bringing a then sickly Steve and the future King together. War takes them apart and throws them back together over and over, in and out of each other lives, arms and beds. But something is missing and throughout, they know they are missing their third and final piece. The kingdom is now Bucky's and Steve's, the latter now a leader and no longer a sickly child. Both are war heroes, with the respect of their country and those that surround it. They are a force to be reconned with, admired and respected within the other royal houses. They could have any maiden or princess they wanted, but they don't want just anyone. They want their soulmate. They want their princess. Even if she is known as The Feral Princess.
Chapter Summary: Bucky opens up to our reader and Steve sees a different side to her.
Bucky leads you down a gravelled path, your arm looped in his. Darcy, Natasha and Wanda follow you from a respectable distance, one that says to anyone watching that you are being chaperoned as any respectable Princess and her future husband should be.
Those that do see you walking are of course oblivious to the kiss you and Bucky shared or the fact you have stood naked in front of both of your future husbands.
You're aware John is somewhere nearby, quietly observing along with two of your Uncle's Robin men. To anyone else they're invisible, even John with his large frame, but certainly not to you.
Bucky leads you to a walled garden and heavy wooden gate. A waft of roses sweeps up your nose and he turns the handle, releasing you to prop it open with a rock. He gestures you to follow him inside and you're quick to see where the smell is coming from.
The walled garden is full of roses. Each wall with a different coloured rose climbing up it. You don't miss they are the Barnes colours. Different rose bushes fill the flower beds and there are occasional pots with rarer colours along the path.
Lavender, marigolds and other flowers make up the gaps between the roses, and as you look around you realise that some of them are familiar. Your thoughts go to Bucky's mother and as you turn to speak to him, you find he has left your side.
He's sitting on a bench inside a wooden arbour. He's hunched over, elbows near his knees and his hands clasped together, his forehead resting against them.
Warmth grows around your soulmate mark and you again feel the need to comfort him.
"James?"
He ignores you so you crouch in front of him.
"James? What is it?"
He fails to acknowledge you, but does look over to where Natasha, Wanda and Darcy have situated themselves in a corner of the walled garden, suddenly finding a corner of the walled garden incredibly interesting, as they stand with their backs to you. Bucky looks down to his feet, and you look back over your shoulder and whistle a brief tune at Darcy. She turns and heads back to the gate, the others following her. They stand the other side of it to give you privacy but leave it open so it appears you are still being chaperoned.
"What is it?" You ask again.
"This was my mother's garden." He says, a lump in his throat.
You reach forward and brush the stray hairs that have fallen forward away from his face.
"Thank you for showing me. I recognise some of the flowers."
"You grow the same ones at Lionheart or in the Loxley woods?"
"Both, but that's not what I meant. Your mother sent a wreath in a mix of Lionheart and Barnes colours to the Queen's funeral. I remember it because it was one of the prettiest ones there."
"She probably arranged it herself. She was always good with flowers. She tried to teach Becca a view times but she doesn't have the concentration for it." He paused for a moment before letting out a sigh. “She would be so disappointed in me."
"I'm sure that's not true."
"You didn't know her." He snapped abruptly.
"No, but I knew of her, and she wrote to me on occasion."
"What?!"
"On the Queens passing and a few times after. I think she suspected I, or the dragons, had been responsible for what happened to Rumlow. She gave advice on how to help Richard with his grief, with the children and how to manage a kingdom, who to trust, who not to. So did Frigga. Your mother came to the Queens funeral. I was heavily guarded and wasn’t allowed to speak to anyone but I saw her there. Everyone was surprised she had managed to convince your father to let her attend. Her and Frigga kept looking over to me like worried mothers do. They only stopped after Marion and Robin spoke to them.”
Bucky sat in silence for a moment as he pieced together what you had told him, what Richard had shared and his own memories. Had his mother known you were his and Steve's?
"What makes you so sure she would be disappointed in you James?"
He let out a huff and shook his head.
"I have not treated people as I should have."
"How so?"
"You saw how the cook and the kitchen staff reacting when I went in there. That poor woman used to sneak us sweet treats as children, now she can barely look at me."
"It is not too late for anything to be undone, for you to make things better."
"Mrs Brooks is not the only person I should make amends with."
"Then you make amends, one by one."
"I would look weak."
"A strong man admits when they are wrong. A weak one denies it."
"You sound like my mother."
"Well, she was a very wise woman." You say with a smile.
"She was." Bucky paused before taking you in, knelt before him. A breeze swept through the garden, blowing your hair across your face. He reached for you and pushed it away. "She would have adored you Tulip, and she would have been very amused that you have kept me busy."
You watched as his eyes filled with tears.
"James."
"I miss her. I miss her so damn much." He tells you, his voice breaking as a tear ran down his face.
You stand abruptly and Bucky rubs at his face, embarrassed and annoyed that he's shown you weakness. He goes to stand but is stopped by your hands in his hair. You stand between his legs and pull him into you. His head rests somewhere between your chest and stomach, and he wraps his arms around you in return.
You stay like that for a while. One hand holding on his shoulders and another combing through his hair.
You pause when you feel eyes on you and you snap your head in the direction of the gate, annoyed that someone has interrupted such a private and delicate moment.
You find Steve looking back at you. His eyes sweep over you, taking in the scene in front of him. Bucky's arms are still wrapped around you as you comfort him and he hears you speak softly to Bucky.
"Your husband is here."
When Bucky pulls away and stands, Steve sees his red rimmed eyes, and watches as rubs tears from his face. He goes to say something. To tell you off for upsetting your shared soulmate and his husband, wondering what you've done to upset him. He stops himself as you pull a handkerchief from your cleavage, causing Bucky to let out a huff of laughter. You dab at his face, before placing a soft kiss to his cheek. You whisper something and Bucky nods glancing at Steve.
You stride towards the gate, causing Steve to side step out of the way.
"Your majesty." You say, as you pass, not sparing him a glance.

Chapter Summary: Steve's annoyed, and the reader sees another side to Bucky.
It takes just over an hour for Steve to come storming into your room.
You hear him before you see him. Muffled voices and then John’s booming voice. No care that Steven is a king, as he tried to force his way passed him. For a man of his size you don’t hear John raise his voice often. His sheer size is another to intimidate anyone and you’ve only heard him use it a handful of times.
The atmosphere in your room is very different. You’re laying in the bath that Wanda had arranged, running a sponge up and down your arms. Darcy is perched on a stood at the side of the bath whispering to you. Wanda throws another log onto the fire and pokes at it. The voices get louder. You ignore them.
Lady Dawn finishes rooting through your bags for a gown to sleep in, only finding one she doesn’t approve of, she huffs and lays it out on the bed.
There’s a bang against the door as if a scuffle has started.
“Are you going to do something about that Tulip?”
“Do something about what Lady Dawn?”
Another bang and Bucky’s voice is now in the mix of things. There’s the sound of swords being drawn and Dawn calls to you again.
“TULIP!”
“Fine, let him in.”
She turns and heads towards the door, missing the wink you send to Darcy, who as if already aware of your plan, moves from the side to the end of the tub with her stool. Wanda raises an eyebrow.
The moment the door opens the hallway falls slient, the men expecting to see you.
“King Steven, do you wish to see the princess?” Lady Dawn asks.
Steve doesn’t reply and barges passed your Lady and into the room. Bucky follows him and closes the door. Steve scans the room and fixes his eyes on you and storms towards the bath.
“You stabbed him!”
You continued to bathe yourself, unfazed by his behaviour.
“Don’t ignore me Y/N!!! You stabbed him! You stabbed our soulmate! My husband! Your king!”
“James isn’t my king, just the same as you aren’t.” You replied not sparing him a glance.
“Excuse me!?”
“You just said James is my King. I am not of Winter’s Hill. He and you are not my kings.”
“But we shall be!”
“Will you?”
“You are our soulmate,” Steve said in a growl “and you will be our Queen!!”
“People often believe that my feral behaviour means I am uneducated Steven. I was raised by many and sometimes in unorthodox ways, but I was educated by governesses, ladies, queens, outlaws, courtesans and kings. I know when a man acts too forward towards an unwed woman. The same as I know when a king seeks to start a war.”
Steve goes to speak but stops as you stand. He couldn’t have been sure from his position before with the water so full of flowers and bubbles, but he sees now that you’re not wearing a bathing shirt. You stand before him completely nude, droplets of water running from your hair and down your body. Steve tries to not look, he really does but it has been years since he’s seen a woman naked. He’d even wondered if any woman would ever grab his attention again but the stirring in his soul, and elsewhere, tells him you definitely can. His gaze follows a droplet from your neck downwards, but it’s stopped abruptly as Lady Dawn holds a towel up in front of you.
“Maybe your majesty should ask his husband as to why I stabbed him before barging in here in a moment of privacy.”
Steve scoffs and turns, leaving and muttering about privacy, stabbing and you standing naked in front of him. He pulls the door open as Bucky turns to follow him and you shoot the latter a wink as he closes the door.
“REALLY TULIP!”
The room fills with laughter as you and Darcy brake into fits of giggles. You glance at Wanda as she tries to hold in her amusement.
“Sorry Lady Wanda, I should have got to know you better before I flashed you my arse.”
“Oh do not worry Princess, I’ve probably seen more ladies bottoms than their majesties!” She laughed out. “I lived in the maids quarters before I was promoted and then I shared quarters with Natasha before I was wed.”
“Oh you’ve seen my soulmates ass before me?” Darcy said amused. “I’m jealous.”
“Well it’s something for you to look forward to.” She replied, a smirk on her lips.
“Really girls! Must you talk like this? It’s so uncouth!” Lady Dawn told you all.
“Lady Dawn, I think you forget that you were once a young lady. A young lady of court if I remember the story correctly.” You told her.
“Well we didn’t speak like you all do!”
“Lady Dawn, are you saying the late Queen of Lionheart is a liar? Because she told me a tale or two of balls and certain Lords.”
“Oh hush you!” She quipped back, flicking you with a towel.
“I am also a married woman Lady Dawn and I’ve seen and heard a lot of things.” Wanda replied.
“Oh do tell us!” Darcy quipped.
“That’s it! I’m drinking the wine! And I’m having the cheese too! I’ll take it as tax for putting up with you all.” Lady Dawn replied throwing herself into a chair.
“And she says I’m the dramatic one.” You quipped.
When the next day reaches lunchtime and there’s no sign of you, Bucky and Steve dress in their finest tunics and come to your room. When they get there they are surprised to see no sign of John or your Loxley men at the door to your room. In fact the only guards are two of their own. They stand to attention and salute as they approach. Bucky nods at them before knocking at the door. There’s no reply.
“Is she in there?” Bucky asks one of the guards.
“Sorry your majesty but I don’t know. We’ve not heard anything but we have just changed guard.”
Bucky knocks again, louder this time. He sighs before trying the handle.
“Tulip! I’m coming in whether you are decent or not.” He calls, opening the door and peering around it.
The room is tidy and the only person there is Lady Dawn, who has no idea of their presence as she dozes in a chair. A blanket has been placed over her and there’s a half eaten breakfast on the table to her side. Steve goes to talk but Bucky stops him, placing a finger over his own lips.
“She’ll be exhausted. She’s been with them since they left Lionheart, she goes where ever Y/N goes. Let her rest.” He whispers.
“There’s a perfectly good bed in the next room for her.” Steve whispered back harshly.
“And she probably didn’t take it so to watch over Y/N.”
Bucky scans the room to see if there’s any indication of where you’ve gone. Your riding gear is there and appears to have been washed as it dries by the fire. Your other bags, albeit few, have been put away and Bucky’s thoughts go towards what you could be wearing if your riding clothes are here. The thought of you in a gown stirs something inside him. He’d heard of the gowns that the ladies wear now in Lionheart and Loxley. He turned quickly almost colliding with Steve.
“What is wrong with you?” He whispered harshly.
“Her riding gear is here.”
“And?”
“And Stevie it means she might be in a gown. The type they have in Loxley.”
Steve’s brow furrowed for a moment before his eyes went wide.
“We should find her.”
Bucky smirked at him.
“Thinking of her again Stevie, as you did last night.” Bucky whispered, pressing himself up against Steve.
“Stop.” Steve replied firmly, casting his eye over at Lady Dawn still sleeping.
“You know I hear their gowns have a slit right up to here.” Bucky told him as he ran his hand up Steve’s thigh.
Steve swallowed hard.
“You should take the west wing and I’ll take the east.” Steve replied flustered.
Bucky stepped back.
“You’ll take the stables and I’ll take the kitchens. I may not know her well but I know that’s where she’ll be.”
They leave the room in a quick but quiet manner, closing the door softly behind them so not to disturb Lady Dawn. Once they are gone Lady Dawn smiles to herself and drifts back to sleep.
Bucky’s right of course and finds you in the kitchen with Wanda, Darcy and Mrs Brooks, the cook. The kitchen staff are going about their jobs but watching you when they can, somewhat in awe of you. Rosie, Mrs Brooks assistant looks like she might burst with excitement.
You’re asking questions about fresh catches and how often food is caught, as you exchange conversation with Mrs Brooks. She mentions about the cold store and helping feeding the neighbouring villages and towns over the winter.
“I noticed that some of the houses have small plots to grow food, do they grow winter crops?” You ask.
“Yes Princess, but the winters are so harsh they can only grow during the very first month than it has to be harvested.”
“We give them baskets.” Rosie blurts out.
“Rosie! You cannot just blurt out words at the Princess! You should only talk when asked to!” She scolds.
“It’s okay Mrs Brooks, she can speak to me, you all can.” You say, before turning to Rosie. “Now Rosie do tell me what’s in these baskets you give out.”
Rosie goes on to tell you that’s there’s a mix of jams, breads, and fresh meats. Cheese too if they have enough. Mrs Brooks tells you it’s all proportionate to the household and can last a couple of days. She tells you that King Steven would like them to have two a week this winter.
“Can you accommodate that Mrs Brooks?”
“We’ll have to Princess and we are more than capable.” She replies, her eyes cast down at the last moment as though she’s worried she’s spoken out of turn.
“Please Mrs Brooks, I am not saying you aren’t capable. Your kitchen is the cleanest I’ve seen, your staff are well turned out and go about their jobs without fussing and questions, meaning you have taught them well. I just wonder where you would store it all. By the time the baskets are done and being passed out, you will need to start the others, they’d be an overlap and with the castle to feed you may struggle for space, even with the ice room and cold store. Do you think you would benefit from more storage?”
Mrs Brooks let out a sigh of relief.
“Yes Princess, I do. It’s been a worry. We may not have daily court or hold balls and plenty will say we have it easy because of that, but it’s a lot of people both within and outside of these walls.”
“Then you shall have more storage Mrs Brooks.” Bucky spoke, startling everyone but you, when he stepped out of his hiding spot.
The room stopped to bow and curtsy. Mrs Brooks gasped.
“I do not mean to speak out of turn your majesty.”
“You don’t Mrs Brooks, but you should have told us that Steve’s request would have caused you issue.” He replied, as he came to your side before slipping an arm around your waist and kissing your head. “Good morning Princess.”
You didn’t answer as you watched Mrs Brooks gape, her mouth opening as to say something but stopping herself.
“What is it Mrs Brooks?” You ask.
She shakes her head and you notice how her demeanour has changed since Bucky entered the kitchen. You glanced between them and then at Rosie who seems to have gone silent and incredibly still. The room had stopped being the hustle and bustle of the house and had now also fallen silent. You frowned at Bucky, as he also seemed to become aware of their change.
“Is something wrong Mrs Brooks?” You asked. “You may speak freely.”
She lifted her head a little and glanced between you and Bucky, before looking down again.
“It’s me isn’t it?” Bucky asked.
“Well you have been incredibly grumpy Yasha.” Natasha said, gliding into the room.
“Is that the issue Mrs Brooks? You did not want to bother James because of his temperament.”
“I should not speak of such things.” She whispers.
You glare at Bucky. You know you cannot make a scene in front of his staff, it is his castle and kingdom after all. But as you glare at him, you see his expression seems to have gone from confusion to disappointment.
“You will have your extra storage Mrs Brooks and I apologise if I have been unapproachable or difficult. That goes to all of you.” He says, looking around the room. “The last few years have not been kind to me and I’m sorry if that has caused me to address or speak to any of you poorly.”
“Thank you your majesty, but I’m just a cook, I know my place and you need not apologise.”
“Well, I’m sure my sister would say otherwise, as would my late mother, and you’re not just a cook. You keep a castle and a kingdom nourished, do not underestimate the importance of that.”
Mrs Brooks nodded and the room stayed silent for a moment, thankfully Wanda breaks the ice.
“Would you like lunch to be served your majesty?”
“Tulip?”
“When would you normally eat?”
“Around now.”
“Is it ready Mrs Brooks, no need to rush if not.”
“It is Princess.”
“Oh Lady Dawn is resting.” You realise.
“I’ll send someone to wake her.” Bucky says.
“No, she’s exhausted from our escapades, but she’ll be annoyed if she misses our first official lunch together.”
“May I make a suggestion?” Rosie asks.
“No, you may not!” Mrs Brooks scolds.
“I was just going to say the gardens are nice then it’s less official.”
“What do you know of official!”
They start to have a back and forth, which you watch in amusement. When you glance at Bucky, he still looks as if he’s disappointed in himself. You place your hand over his metal one against your waist and squeeze softly. You’re unsure if he can feel it but the kiss he plants into your hair, along with a sigh tells you he can.
“Ladies!” Wanda calls, stopping the back and forth between the kitchen staff. They stop, as Wanda turns to you. “May I make a suggestion?”
“Of course.” You reply.
“A lunch in the gardens would be less formal and may avoid upsetting Lady Dawn. Lady Darcy, Natasha and I can accompany you, and act as chaperones.”
“James?” You ask, glancing up at him. He nods and you look back to Wanda. “That would be lovely Lady Wanda, thank you everyone.”
You turn towards Bucky, and take the chance to truly take him in. His hair is freshly washed and part of it is pulled back from his face. He is wearing a tunic in Barnes colours and it compliments his broad shoulders. The look in his eyes though seems somewhere between confused and lost.
There’s a pull in your chest and around your soulmate mark and you feel the need to comfort him.
“James? Would you show me the gardens before we eat?”
He looks down at you and seems to force a smile.
“Of course Tulip.” He replies, as he releases your waist and offers his arm. You take it and he leads you through the kitchens, back into the castle hallway and out through a door that the guards push open as you approach.
You glance up at him again as the sun catches you both as you step outside and realise you maybe warming to him, and it doesn’t actually make you want to vomit like you thought it would.
It takes a lot for a man of his standing to acknowledge his faults. From what you’ve heard his father never did.
Maybe James isn’t so bad after all. Steven on the other hand…..
Meanwhile in Loxley……
“Send the quickest birds to Winter’s Hill and Lionheart.” Robin instructed one of his men as he passed them two sealed notes. “Then come back for one for Asgard.”
“What will you do?” Marian asked.
Robin gave her a look that made it clear what his actions would be.
“You remember that she pardoned them.”
“She was six years old and didn’t know better. Now though, she has defended kingdoms, has dragons, royals and outlaws at her calling and knows plenty, and she’ll soon to be wed to the Kings of Winter’s Hill. If Richard has told James everything and he still pursued her, I doubt James or Steven will let them live.”
A knock at the door brought John’s oldest son with news.
“You have a guest Uncle Rob.”
“Oh, and who might that be?”
“The Punisher. He says he’s been sent by James. He wants to talk to you about Tulip’s mother and stepfather.”
“Let him in then lad, let’s set him on the right path. Bring me a true map of the woods.”
Robin smiled to himself. After all these years, your mother and stepfather might get what was coming to them after all.

Chapter Warning: Mentions of injuries.
You woke with a jump as your ass bounced on the seat. You winced in pain as the knock vibrated up and into your broken ribs. Your eyes tried to focus as you continued to be bounced around. You pulled the straps tighter, realising Clint had left them loose probably in a bid to not hurt you. You glanced forward expecting to see him or Natasha in the pilots seat but found both the pilot and co-pilot seats empty. There was another harsh bump and as you focused you could see through the jet’s window that you were in the middle of a storm. A bad one. Quite possibly a hurricane. Any standard jet would be in serious trouble right now. Who the fuck is flying this thing?
Checking the dials and screens of the jet you realised the AI was piloting. Another harsh bump, a yell and a smashing sound caused you to release yourself from the confines of the seat and head to the back of the jet. The door to the back of the jet was open and the wind was blowing at force through it. Bruce seemed to be setting up three medical beds. Clint and Nat were near the opening on lines securing them to the jet. What the fuck was going on? You suddenly remembered Nat’s previous statement. Wilson. Barnes. Rogers. Trouble. Bruce spotted you before you had chance to move any further.
“Ermmm guys?” He said turning to glance at Nat and Clint and gesturing at you.
“Go back to the front and strap in.” Clint ordered. You frowned at him.
“Please sestra!” Nat yelled over the wind. Spotting something on the outside of the jet, your eyes went wide when you realised what it was. You went to yell but nothing came out.
“DANGER” you signed and they ducked as the rescue line whipped in the wind. The rescue cradle at the end smashed into the ceiling and sides of the jet before flying back out again, the winch pulling as it went.
“What the fuck is going on?” You signed as Nat and Clint righted themselves.
“Rogers, Barnes, and Wilson are in the water.” Clint shouted. You went towards the opening as they all called for you to stay back, looking out into the stormy darkness you could see the jet in the water. The three alphas on the roof as the emergency inflatables kept it afloat. You saw Barnes try and grab for the line before it hit Rogers hard in the side of the head as he held onto Wilson. They were being battered by the waves and you were sure if two of them hadn’t been super soldiers they’d be dead, lost in the water. You stepped back and signed to Clint.
“Retract the line.”
He went to speak, ready to argue with you but he knew you were right. It was too windy for the winch and line. Too dangerous for him or Nat, and if Bruce, or rather the Hulk, went out there the force of him landing on their jet would sink it and he’d probably damage their's as he jumped back. Clint hit the button on the wall of jet and retracted the line.
“What are you doing?” Nat yelled.
“You know what I’m doing.” He replied glancing at you. They watched as you grabbed your bag from the cargo net Nat had stowed it in and pulled it open.
“No!”
“Nat, you know it’s the only way to get them up here safely.”
She huffed as she watched you pull out a spare suit. Bruce fussed around you, helping you when he could as your injuries caused you to grimace. He quickly taped your broken fingers together as you wiggled in your suit and zipped it up. Clint and Nat smiled briefly at each other. They always amused by the little wiggle you did. You pulled out your flight glasses and Clint instructed Friday to connect them to the jet so they could see what you were doing. You signed the passcode for the AI to connect them.
“Be careful.” Nat told you as you made your way to the open door.
“Grab Wilson first.” Bruce shouted. “He’s the worse injured.”
You signed asking for the wind speed and direction from Friday, before nodding and leaping from the jet. Your wings appeared, pushed from your back as soon as you were clear of the door, the nanotech in your suit reacting to make room for them. The wind knocked into you and took your breath away as you dipped and soared to reach the alphas, still being battered from the storm.
As you neared you caught a flurry of scents that immediately spurred you forward.
Your omega stirred in the back of your mind and you pushed back. Not now. She stirred again and purred. You neared the three alphas but found your eyes drawn to two in particular. Your omega reacted instantly.

Chapter Summary: Steve opens up about his rejection.
Chapter Warning: Mentions of rejection (if that's a warning!).
*Runt is a derogative term in this universe.
“I’d never really had a girlfriend before, not through lack of trying though.” Steve tells you. “I wanted, more than anything, to have someone to call mine, to be mated, but I was a runt.”
“Steve!”
“I was honey, and I know that’s hard to believe now but I was. Bucky had a line of girls back then, all pining to date the beta that could have been a model, and he’d always ask for them to bring a friend. I got a couple of kisses here and there but I’m pretty sure they were out of sympathy.” He paused for a moment and sipped on the wine he’d pulled from the basket and poured for you both.
He sat on the edge of the sofa, his plaid shirt pulling across his broad shoulders. His scent soured and you reached forward and gave his shoulder a squeeze. He glanced at you and gave you a worried smile.
“I stopped growing really early on. I was sick all the time. After Mom passed I didn’t have anyone, apart from Bucky and his family. Bucky would spend days taking care of me. His Mum and Dad got me an appointment with a fancy specialist, who said I’d probably never present. Suggested some clinical trials that might help, gave me some leaflets and sent me away.” He paused let out a sigh. “Then Bucky and I tried to join the army. He got in and I got practically laughed out the building. I applied in anyway I could, even under false names.”
“Steve! Isn’t that a criminal offence?”
“Yeah, but I was desperate to join, to make something of myself, and I thought that was the only way.”
You squeezed his shoulder again and he sat back on the sofa. You shuffled closer and he placed his arm across on the back of it to allow you nearer, and you positioned yourself at his side, trying not to curl into him too much and crowd him.
“I had a scholarship for Art school and Bucky pushed me to go, and with him off to god knows where, I didn’t really have much else. Art school was great and I lasted nearly a year but I still kept trying to join the army. The last time I tried the Recruitment Officer recognised me, spotted I used a false name. I went to run, tripped over my feet and fell into one of the army medics. The leaflet about the clinic trial fell out my jacket pocket. I’d forgot it was even in there. Turns out the army had a trial too. They had a bunch of non-presented working in bases here and abroad. The war in Afghanistan had started and they’d found that when the non-presented had been exposed to extreme trauma they’d present suddenly, so I signed up.”
“So you signed up to basically traumatise yourself, and have them do it for you too?”
“Pretty much.” You sit in a silence for a moment, before he continues. “I was placed at a base here in the US first. I’d run errands for the senior officers, make coffee, that kind of thing. Every now and again they’d do something, jump out on me, show me photos of the injuries the guys out there were getting, they pulled me from the bed in the middle of the night, put me through torture training, all kinds of things. Then one of the senior officers was moved to another base, nearer the fight. He could pick who he wanted to take, and I was one of them. He said he liked the way I pressed his uniform and organised his paperwork. The base was international, so there’s a mix of other countries and their units, and that’s when I met her.”
“Who?”
“Peggy Carter.”
“Why does that name sound familiar?”
“She works for SHIELD now.”
Your brow furrowed and you vaguely remember a conversation whilst you were in the hospital. You’re looking out the window as Storm strokes your hair. There’s a back and forth about who will be with you when the different agencies interview you. When it’s said who’s coming from each agency Logan and Frank both bark out a growled no. The name of Carter is mentioned but that’s not who comes to see you.
“Omega.” Steve says, snapping you back to reality. “You okay? I lost you there for a second.”
“Sorry, I think she might have been someone who was meant to interview me about the docks, but I have this vague memory of Logan and Frank saying no, but I was still a bit out of it.”
Steve nods in understanding.
“Peggy can be manipulative. Frank and Logan both know that. She was probably going to try and recruit you.”
“For what?”
“For SHIELD.”
“Well she can fuck off.” You say bluntly, making Steve let out a huff of laughter.
You sit in silence again and feel his arm move to partially wrap around your shoulders. His hand begins to move in a soothing motion and you realise he’s comforting himself in the process as his scent levels out.
“She was my mate.” He says suddenly. You nod in understanding. “She came bursting through the door of the Colonel’s office. Being an Alpha she’d smelt me from across the base. I still hadn’t presented so I didn’t know until I saw her. The disappointed look on her face said it all and she left as quick as she came in. I pursued her for months, followed her around like a lost puppy, just wait around her office and quarters in the hope she’d speak to me.”
“Did she speak to you?”
“A couple of times but it was always to say how disappointed she was, that she was disgusted to have me as a mate.”
“I’m so sorry Steve.”
“Don’t be. I know now she wasn’t the match for me.” He tells you, pulling you closer.
You place your head on his shoulder and allow yourself to curl into him.
“You don’t know for sure I’m the better option.”
“I do. For a start the pack like you, they certainly don’t like her.”
“That’s understandable if she treated you like that.”
“Some of them actually knew her before I did.”
“From serving?”
Steve nodded.
“Bucky and his unit were at our base between rotations, he’d already been warned about Peggy.”
“What?”
“Some of his unit were working with a special task force and it was made clear they weren’t to discuss it with anyone. I remember Bucky telling me to stay away from Peggy, that this alpha female special agent had warned them about her. He couldn’t explain why, but the agent knew what she was talking about. She was also slightly terrifying and Buck didn’t want to get on the wrong side of her.”
“Natasha.” You say, piecing together Steve’s story and the one Natasha had told you about them meeting.
“Yeah, and she was right.”
“Of course she was.” You quip.
“Peggy buzzed around them the minute they arrived. A lot ignored her, but there was one that didn’t. A beta. She’d whisper in his ear, run her hands all over him, all whilst she’d be looking at me.”
“What a bitch.”
“Bucky had it out with her. I was mad at him, thought he’d ruined any chance of her coming around to the idea of us being mates. He left the base to go back to the fight and we were barely on speaking terms. Peggy left base for a week or two and I managed to get some flowers and a few other gifts for her. The Colonel confirmed she was back and I went off looking. I found her around the back of one of the armouries fucking the beta.”
You’re not sure what you’d expected Steve to say but that wasn’t it. You lifted your head from his shoulder.
“I dropped everything I was carrying and she laughed. Like really laughed, I remember saying her name, and she told me she’d never be with me, that I was a runt and then she rejected me. Right there, while the other guy was inside her.”
You’re jaw clenched and the lights started to flicker. Steve heard a rumble of thunder and looked to the window that looked out into the rear garden. The clouds turned dark and rolled over the cottage.
When he looked back your eyes met and Steve could see yours were now flicked with gold. His brow furrowed before his eyebrows shot up.
“Is that you? Omega, is that you doing that?”
You dipped your head and shuffled away from him.
“Sorry.” You mumbled. “I’m better at controlling them than I was but maybe not as much as I thought.”
Steve glanced down at your hands and saw they weren’t moving. You were doing this without even a wiggle of your fingers. He moved so he was back closer to you and placed his hand over yours. Placing a kiss to your forehead.
“Hey.” He says, trying to get you to look at him. “You don’t need to be worried. I’m not scared of your magic. I just didn’t know you could do that, with the thunder I mean. Bucky heard it, he mind linked to ask if we were okay. When I said I’d told you about Peggy, he told me that was probably you, but I’m not scared Y/N, I was just a little surprised.”
“Where is she now?” You ask quietly.
“You’re not going after her.”
“We’ll see.” Leaning away from him to pick up your glass of wine, you take a sip and turn toward him again. “Is that what did it? Is that what made you present?”
Steve nodded.
“The pain for the rejection ripped its way through me and caused a reaction. I stumbled away and I found myself heading towards a wooded part of the base. It was used to practice camouflage tactics and certain terrains. I hid there for a week. The Colonel found out what Peggy had done and made arrangements to have her shipped off to another base. When I wandered out the woods I was pretty much like I am now. An alpha. A true alpha. Less facial hair maybe, few less wrinkles and I was a little blonder.”
“Do you have a photo?”
“Of when I presented?”
“No.” You smile. “From before.”
“Oh yeah.” Steve shuffles at the side of you and pulls a photo from his back pocket. “Buck and Nat said I should bring it. They thought you might not believe me otherwise.”
“I believe you.” You say taking the photo from him. “Oh my goddess! Look at you!” Steve’s scent briefly goes to worry, before you continue. “You were so cute!”
“Cute? Like in a puppy?”
“Like as in you were cute Steve. Sure you were smaller but you have the same eyes. Kind, strong, as bright as a summer sky, like they’ve seen a lot of things.”
You sit quietly again for a moment before Steve sips his wine again.
“Anyone ever tell you that you have a way with words omega?”
“Once actually. By a famous novelist I know.” You tell him, causing Steve’s eyebrows shoot up. You brush over it and pass him the photo back.
“What happened after you presented?” You ask. “When she saw you were an alpha?”
“She tried to take back the rejection.”
“Wow.” You say sarcastically.
“But I cut her off, accepted her rejection, and then the Colonel's plans to have her reassigned came through. We’d bump into her on occasion and she’d try to talk to me. I concentrated on training and moving up the ranks. Now I’d presented I could actually join the army fully.”
“And that was how you met the others right? Apart from Bucky?”
“Pretty much.” Steve paused, leaned forward and placed his now empty glass on the coffee table. He let out a sigh and looked up at the ceiling “I just wanted to be sure that you were okay with it, with how I presented late.”
“Why do you think I wouldn’t be okay with it?”
“Well, our kids could go through the same thing. Sometimes my alpha gets snappier than he should, which is apparently usual with runts who present late and become true alphas, especially when we think something is being taken away from us or not going our way.”
You curled into him again and cupped his face, turning it towards you.
“And if that happens alpha, if our kids late present”
“They could be runts.”
“If they are, they’ll have a father that knows exactly what they’ve been through. A witch for a mother and a whole bunch of aunty witches who probably know every remedy possible to help them too. And, as long as you’re sure about me, and you can put up with me, no one is taking me away from you.” You say with a sudden serge of confidence.
“I’m sure about you.”
Your lips met softly at first, before Steve pulls you into his lap. You straddled him as one his hands came to rest on the back of your head and the other strayed down towards your ass. Your hands found your way up his chest and on to his shoulders. One stayed there and another made its way to his hair. You melt into each other as the kiss becomes more passionate. You can’t remember the last time you were kissed like this. You pull away as a memory flashes of the last time your lips were on another’s. You don’t get far as Steve tightens his grip on you.
Your faces stay close, noses brushing.
“Steve?” You ask in a whisper, the earlier confidence gone. “Alpha, are you sure?”
“I’m sure ‘mega.” He tells you as he begins to kiss you again.
Neither of you see your phone lighting up with missed calls, tossed to the side and on silent as a text comes.
Tyler - Call me back Y/N. Stop fucking ignoring me. We need to talk.
I really surprised myself with how much I read this morning! I hope you enjoy this fantastic fics too, if you do please consider letting your friendly neighbourhood fic writer know with a comment and/or reblog.
If you don't know what to say a simple heart is still very much appreciated !

Being so well taken off by two beautiful alphas made your heart flutter.
As Bucky fixed your blanket you drifted off to sleep against Steve’s chest for the third time in a week you wondered…..is this love?
Pairing: Alpha Steve Rogers x Omega Witch Reader, eventual ? x Omega Witch Reader and Alpha Steve Rogers X Omega Witch Reader
Theme: A/B/O / True Mates
Series Warnings: A/B/O, eventual smut, violence in parts, witchcraft, shapeshifters

“Never tell Natasha Romanoff she was right” - Clint Barton
Chapter Summary: The past causes a problem, and another side to reader makes a surprise appearance.
Chapter Warning: Mention of harassment, stalking, past childhood abuse and violence, attempted kidnap.
Clint Barton knows when someone is about to throw up. He has three kids after all. He also has a wife who suffered with morning sickness so he knows the signs. The colour draining from someone’s face, sometimes a flush of the cheeks depending on the person, a gulp of trying to push it down, then a silent heave.
And he sees the signs as he looks across at you. The gasp of shock when you look at the screen, the colour that drains from your face, the heave that comes when you stand abruptly, knocking the chair to the ground. When your hand goes to your mouth, he knows the heave will come again and will probably be followed by you being violently sick.
So he moves silently, knowing you don’t know where the downstairs bathroom is, and pushes open the door. He calls your name as you heave again and your freehand follows the other to your mouth. You trip over your own feet as you make your way to him, Steve and Bucky hot on your tail. You proceed to be violently sick into the toilet, as Bucky barks orders for an ice pack as your body burns up. When your vision blurs you hear Sam’s voice and then he’s by your side, attaching you to the monitor from earlier in the day. Bucky’s knelt at your other side reassuring you softly, before calling out harshly in Russian to Natasha. Steve’s behind you, a hand around your waist and you’re sure he’s holding you up.
When you’re finally done Clint’s hand appears between the huddle around you, and a cold bottle of water is offered to you.
You say a quiet thank you, before you rinse your mouth with it. Someone tabs your mouth with tissue and you take a few more sips.
“How?” You ask.
You don’t see the men that surround you exchange glances. Bucky strokes your head softly.
“What do you mean fae?”
“That picture. The photo.” You say confused.
“The last one?” Steve asks, and you nod in reply. “Who was it?”
“That’s him. The one they sold my wings too.”
Bucky moves instantly, a growl in his chest. Darcy slides into his spot, a worried look on her face.
Then there’s yelling.
“How dare you? How fucking dare you come into our home and lie?!! I want you out now!!”
“Sergeant Barnes, the incident today is part of a wider investigation.” You hear one of the detectives say.
“I don’t give a shit! OUT!!!”
“Sergeant Barnes, if you or anyone else hampers the investigation we will have cause to note it as obstruction and”
“And what? You’re going to arrest me? I’d like to see you try.” Bucky growls.
“Detectives, you might want to remember that you’re on our private property and that you came here so Y/N could identify those that attempted to kidnap her today. Their behaviour was a direct attack on a dragon’s mate. James’ reaction is completely understandable. We only agreed for you to be here if you were accompanied by Colonel Rhodes, who is in fact a military and government official, who you have apparently lied to. If this is the man that Y/N’s parents sold her wings too, this is much bigger than the NYPD. Isn’t it? Stalking. Kidnap. Maybe even trafficking. Then there’s of course the possible human collection of those like us, or worse parts of us.” You hear Natasha say.
Stalking. Kidnapping. Collection.
You lose track of what Natasha is saying as you process her last words.
Collection. Collector of things. The Collector. That’s what your mother had called him. You feel a stir of something in your chest.
You move abruptly.
“Careful sweetheart.” Steve tells you as he helps you to your feet.
“Easy Y/N. Careful of your blood pressure.” Sam warns you.
You take a moment to steady yourself and catch Darcy’s worried expression. You reassure her you’re okay and squeeze her hand in insistence. You hear a further commotion from outside of the bathroom, the opening and closing of a door and then Tony’s voice, followed by a women’s voice you don’t know.
You hear Steve mutter something and Clint leaves the bathroom and then comes back.
“She wants to talk to Y/N, Nat’s right, looks like this is passed the cops remit.”
There’s another loud back and forth and you hear the detectives arguing with the woman. Bucky’s voice gets louder more and there’s a mention again of him being an obstruction, and him being arrested. A boom of Thor’s voice follows, along with a threat from Loki.
Something surges over you. Something you haven’t felt in a long time and you’re suddenly moving out of Steve’s arms towards the noise.
Tony is the nearest to the bathroom. He has his back to you. He’s flanked by two blonde phoenixes. One is Pepper. The other you don’t know. Not until she turns at the sound of your footsteps.
Sharon Carter.
Phoenix. CIA Agent. Steve’s ex-girlfriend.
You feel her eyes on you but don’t look at her as she steps to the side and you step between her and Tony.
Bucky turns sharply and pulls you into his arms. He sniffs you throughly, and you hear one of the detectives huff. There’s another pull of something in your chest and you turn to look at the detectives sharply.
“Were you threatening my dragon?” A voice asks. It’s harsh and threatening and you suddenly realise it’s coming from you.
“There she is.” Loki says amused. You ignore him.
“He’s done more to protect me than you have. A restraining order that took months, repeated phone calls to 911 and the local PD, being stalked. I had to move because of that human asshole.” You pause and turn towards the female human Police Officer, who looks like she’s about to pass out. “No offence.”
She waves you off.
“If you’d have done your jobs properly then, today wouldn’t have happened.” You tell the detectives, as you take a step and end up nearly nose to nose to the one that’s standing nearest to Bucky. “And now, you think you can ask me about him. About the man that helped ruin my childhood.”
“Y/N.” Steve says your name softly to start with as he slips an arm across your waist. When you don’t respond, he glances at Loki as the fae takes a step forward to take you in more. Steve says your name again, firmer this time. You blink quickly and smile softly at him, before curling into his side. You feel Bucky behind you as he presses into your back.
“I think it’s time you headed out, let Agent Carter here do her job.” Rhodey tells the detectives. “Expect a phone call from the Commissioner on your way home.”
They don’t move right away and the atmosphere in the room changes. It feels like the friends around you move, even though they don’t. You’re still curled into Steve’s side when you hear the door open, footsteps and a quip from Tony. The room settles and is silent for a moment.
“Y/N.” A voice says and you turn towards it. Sharon. “I need to speak to you.”
“No.” Steve says firmly.
You lean away from him and your eyes meet Sharon’s. You’re not sure why but she takes a step back.
“Do you have him?’ You ask. “The Collector?”
“We do.” She tells you. “The delivery guy gave him up, Daniel followed soon after. Seems they were concerned with your involvement with Barnes. With all of you.”
“As they should be.” Natasha tells her, a bite to her voice.
“Are you sure fae?” Bucky asks, lips placed tightly to your ear. You nod. “We do this and then I want you gone. She’s needs rest.”
Sharon nods and Bucky guides you back over to the table. This time you sit in his lap. Sam places a blanket over your legs. Steve stands as close as he can, hand on your shoulder.
You watch as Sharon pulls out her phone and sets it up to record your voice. She says the date and time, and then clears her throat.
“Y/N, please can you tell me how you know The Collector.”
