It felt as though they had been at each other’s throats for decades now, even though it had only been about a week since the fight first began. That was the magic of Lily – her presence had the unique quality of either slowing down or speeding up time, depending on whether or not she was happy. Perhaps that was why the time in between strained conversations and screaming matches felt as though it became shorter and shorter every go-around.
The sole bright spot in the dark that was their prickly interactions had to be the sex. Whether it was doting and tender or rough and savage, coming together for intercourse was a talent of theirs. Judging by the state of their latest casualty, the black and white guest room, they’d gone beyond rough this time though. The walls would require fixing, and all of the furnishings, bed included, were most certainly broken beyond repair. Debris was scattered everywhere as their bodies finally parted.
Vampires didn’t particularly run out of breath, but Ambrose was close to it. “There,” he huffed, the barest hint of a chuckle cracking his voice as he drank in the look of her as though it were blood, “you cannot possibly still be angry with me after that.” He could still feel her skin on his fingertips despite the distance, and it felt unfair as it often did that his wife was as beautiful as she was. Only a woman this resplendent could make him work so hard over something that really should have been resolved already.

Lily’s eyebrows furrowed in annoyance as she decided she didn’t like the arrogance in her husbands tone, despite the fact that his performance really had been something worthy of that kind of ego. “Are you willing to wager on that, Darling?” She asked petulantly crossing her arms across her bare chest, a sneer turning her usual sobriquet into a sarcastic insult. “This used to be my favorite guest room and now it’s been destroyed. Thanks for once again ignoring my preferences on our home décor in the name of our love.” It wasn’t a fair thing to say in the slightest, considering she’d been there the entire time and hadn’t once bothered to complain or suggest a new location for their lovemaking. But Lily didn’t really care too much about what was fair or made sense in an argument, she just wanted to be the correct one in her own mind.
